Dragon Age 2: The Musical.

Karl, he was once my lover,
but now I've got to jump for cover,
cuz those Templars are a coming
while this song I'm a humming!
but now for hawke i feel the hots
i miss my cat ser-pounce-a-lot
those bastards took my cat
and that was that
then i up and ran away,
so i could bom chantries another day
elthina was so very deserving
on the fence was no one serving
so sela petrae - drakestone stew
i made, and then the chantry blew

The Fenris/Anders duet would have to be a reworked version of "What is this feeling?" from Wicked.

Or a little Sweeney Anders:
Posted Image

They all deserve to die.
Tell you why, Ms. Hawke, tell you why.
Because in all of the whole human race
Ms. Hawke, there are two kinds of men and only two
There's the one they put in his proper place
And the one with his foot in the other one's face
Look at me, Ms. Hawke, look at you.

Now we all deserve to die
Even you Ms. Hawke...even I
Because the lives of the wicked should be made brief
For the rest of us death will be a relief
We all deserve to die.

And I'll never see Ser Pounce
No I'll never hold my cat to me - finished!
Alright! You sir, you sir, how about a stave?
Come and visit your good friend Anders.
You sir, you sir? Welcome to the grave.

I will have vengenance.
I will have salvation.
Who sir, you sir?
No one in the chair, come on! Come on!
Anders' waiting. I want you bleeders.
You sir - anybody.
Gentlemen don't be shy!

Not one man, no, nor ten men.
Not a hundred can assuage me -
I will have you!
And I will get him back even as he gloats
In the meantime I'll practice on less honorable throats.
And my Karl lies in ashes
And I'll never see my cat again.

And agree with general consensus re Reeves, Anders is an emotionally expressive character. Mr. Reeves, to put it politely, is not an emotionally expressive actor.

I once had to listen to an hour long rant from a Canadian lecturer on why Reeves was the worst Hamlet she had ever seen. Needless to say, I can no longer watch him in ANYTHING.

ALSO - he murdered Jonathan Harker in Dracula. Utterly murdered. I actually wept every time he spoke.

Haha sounds like a rant I would have enjoyed immensely!

LOL @Yami

I tried to make No Place Like London work, but fell apart when I realized no cities in Thedas rhyme with Peru. Also, switching out a cat for a wife was creeping me out.

Karl is Lucy and Ser Pounce is Joanna.

I wanted something magical to replace shaving, but then couldn't think of a good rhyme to replace grave.

I totally agree that he's at the whim of his emotions, but whereas pre-JAnders he would have taken his pleasure where he will and wouldn't have cared if he hurt someone emotionally, he's now got enough perspective to put it off and off knowing that he's going to hurt Hawke. Which I think is a massive step up in the responsibility scales, and he gives a f!Hawke plenty of warning that it isn't a smart idea to get involved with him, even though he would really want it. Which makes me wibble. All over.

And waffle all you like, I love a bit of internet banter. Posted Image

Going back to this (if that's ok Elle!) I can see that (so it's a case that he's more responsible as he is taking his relationships more seriously and is more considerate of the feelings of others that we assume he would have been less concerned with in Awakening (I'm saying assume simply because I don't recall if there was any real insight given into his romantic inclinations back then)) but I'm still not quite sure...

I guess my take on it then is that yes it could be indicative of being mroe responsible but the overriding issue for me is that he forms an unhealthy attachment to Hawke very quickly because of his insecurity and his reluctance to get involved with him/her stems from feelings of idealisation rather than from maturity. I've talked about attachment before (aaages ago though) but I understand Anders in terms of being characterised as having a preoccupied attachment style (very briefly, negative views of self as unlovable and positive views of others who you seek validation of self through gaining their acceptance. More intense, clingy, and coercive behaviours and at times jealousy is pretty typical). Hawke's acceptance of Anders despite his merging with Justice gives him that much needed validation (a la "Wow this capable and attractive person isn't horrified by me and actually *wants* me around, maybe I'm not the abomination others see me as) and in my mind triggers why it becomes so important to him not to hurt him/her. He absolutely could not bear to hurt the most important person to him and will readily hurt himself by denying himself the close relationship he really wants (and if Hawke has shown an itnerest, knows he could get) because of his insecurity-induced idealisation of him/her.

Of course I'm probably totally wrong lol but it's just one of my interpretations of the character.

Of course it's fine Posted Image, I love picking up the ends of debates from pages back and pumping some life back into them. Posted Image

And that's a lovely idea - and it makes me want to protect him even more!!! He does come across as overly clingy to me personally, but my Hawke is pretty much messed up by that point (no family left etc etc) so welcomes his obsessive idealised love because he'll take just about anything from Hawke. Which makes the rivalmance more upsetting for me, because he just accepts Hawke's negative view of him. Posted Image

I was talking to someone else about the rivalmance and how you basically destroy him by the end and he's just a husk of a man. You have effectively stripped Justice and the Templars, and there is nothing left. On the friendmance he's validated and able to build from where he is, because lets be honest he's not going to get back to what he was. Better to start fresh and help guide and support him, in my eyes anyway.

Stupid work *grumble*, boss has just given me a massive stack of paper to sort and file. Bloody busy work so browsing is more difficult. grrrrrrrrrrrr

This is absoltely my thoughts too! I've not done the rivalmance but I will when the next patch is out - I know that it's going to be an absolutely emotional gut-kick because my understanding of it is that Anders has the same preoccupation with his idealised Hawke, but in this instance is constantly having his negative perceptions of himself confirmed ie confiming that he is a monster and an abomination. His mental state must be so broken down not only from Justice/Vengeance but after years of having his negative self-perceptions reinforced by the woman/man he loves more than anything, it's just heartbreaking to me Posted Image

For my mageHawke Sorscha, it was heady because she fell for him instantly and couldn't believe that this man she admired loved her. For my rogue Niamh it was a bit much for her at times, she didn't like having such responsibility over another person's well-being. My rogue Garrett just took everything with a pinch of salt "I would drown us in blood to keep you safe" "Oh you, silly goose*"

*I've been watching too much Supernatural lately with Lilleth and her evil ways, I love her "silly goose" talk!

Hmmm I think in the rivalmance it is still up to you on how you want him to understand that merging only caused him and his friend Justice problems. In my rivalmance playthrough I wasn't really THAT mean to him [and as much as possible I do not want to be agressive because I do support the cause it's just not the means] So anyway, I'm really gonna wait for the patch to see the bug fixed. And by then, I'll see which of the romance is better.
