Chiming in to add--in the back of the guide, Jennifer Hepler says that "for Anders in DAII, I really wanted to try doing a cursed Angel-and-Buffy-style romance..."

Also you make me feel really old. I am 31.

Been wanting to ask, too -- are there major differences between romancing Anders as a mage vs. as a non-mage? I thought it was super-romantic to pair my rogue Hawke with Anders because she wasn't fighting for her own safety -- she was doing it for the people she loved. But I'm curious if a mage gets any extra, special Anders loving...?

That's funny, because I was totally bringing up Angel as soon as the whole Justice angle was revealed. I thought it would be more Justice seizes real control, but the helplessness of it and the whole being able to kill him thing is even more heartbreaking.

Cute smile, to counter the heartbreaking:

How are people saying Anders gay kissed them in surprise?

Do people even bother listening to what people are saying? Or choosing anything other than the upper dialogue wheel choice?

The mind...it boggles.

Not only that, but you have to choose the heart 2 TIMES IN THE SAME CONVERSATION before you get kissed.

Anders is a sexual predator, apparently, or so the forums lead me to believe.

I'm starting to think these people just pick the uptmost conversation choice without bothering to read or look at the icons and then act surprised when things happen because they didn't bother reading. <_<

My faith in human intelligence is plummeting.

I've heard of people who skip the dialogues completely. "Boring, I wanna fight."

If I could skip the fighting I'd be very tempted!

Well... they're probably the same people who didn't know what an Antivan massage meant.

If him saying scruffy exterior doesn't raise any flags already, then I'm afraid you've dug a hole for yourself.

I would buy that so incredibly fast. I would LOVE to play a round of cards with this crew. It wouldn't even need sexytimes.

Unless sexytimes with Isabela involves an abandoned warehouse. Or sexytimes with Fenris involves him not talking to you at all because "it's too soon"...Oh! and sexy time with Anders is all lightning'd out. Posted Image

But still, cards would be fun.

I would pay a lot of money I don't have for this.

I do not understand.

Why play a BW game if your going to skip the dialogue. Most of BW games have "meh" gameplay. =] It's not terrible but there's a lot better.

Maybe that's just me though.

In reference to the whole Angel/Buffy thing didn't Buffy save Angel in the end though they ultimately went their separate ways? I haven't seen the show in years but that's what I seem to remember happening.

At any rate...there's a party at the Hanged Man you say? Time to get Anders drunk and see if Justice tries to lecture us.

I would too.  For a second I almost believed it too!  Not sure I would like to play cards though... I doubt my Hawke is better than me. Maybe Isabella can coach me.

They went their separate ways because he got all old fashioned and protective of her.  Not something I can see Anders doing. Not to Hawke.

So they could complain about the gameplay.

I've never got this sort of stupidity either, these are not my friends :P

Fenris is totally Spike.

*swoon* I have such a thing for Spike, cannot be believed.  I think Fenris = Spike makes sense.  Both hot! And so so fire and flame, oh my!

But Anders is 100times better than Angel.  And hotter.  Just my take.

Fenris doesn't remind me of Spike at all. Fenris reminds me more of Angel than Anders does, actually.

Nothing really major, but there were some subtle differences in dialogue, that I can recall off the top of my head anyways. During the Questioning Beliefs quest in Act 2, he mentions how awesome it is to have an apostate Hawke making a name for themselves and the mage plight in Kirkwall. As a non-mage it's something more along the lines of he wouldn't expect someone like Hawke to take such an active interest in their cause. That's for Friendship romance, anyways.

I recently did a Mage Rivalry romance with him and it's pretty tense. He's infuriated that a fellow mage would "turn on your own kind", and he seems to really hate himself for falling for you -- "I don't know whether yo kiss you or kill you".  I haven't finished that game yet. I had to break from it because it just felt so...wrong. :?

I think the "creepiness" of large age gaps is subjective.  I personally like older men.  Old enough to be my father?  No.  But I don't think Anders is THAT much older than Hawke.  Maybe five or six years?  That's not that huge a difference, personally.

Yeah, I'd say he's 6 or 7 years older.  Maybe around 29 or 30, while to me Hawke is 23.

It makes his "Don't threaten me, little girl" comment much more interesting, IMO.  But I found that strangely titillating anyway.

Is there video of such goodness?  Cause that I would enjoy seeing (rather than the end rival romance bits where Justice comes out... that was PAINFUL, my poor heart broke for Anders)

The more I read the threads, the more I'm convinced that an Anders rivalmance is never going to happen for me. It's just depressing sounding, even though he's adorable when he reads his manifesto. There should have been a friendly version where you can correct his grammar or something.
