Yeah, I know.  I may be Christian, but I can talk about it as literature without getting emotional.  I honestly think they were playing with this and we can't really keep dancing around the elephant in the room.

Especially with the bit where Seb gets all cranky over the Anders/ Andraste comparison. It's obviously there - not even necessarily as the judeo-christian religion (although with the game made in and for a primarily christian culture... now now, I'm not saying everyone is, just that you know, Christmas, Easter, etc etc, it's the stories we grow up with). How far you want to take that comparison is up to the individual but I think it's an interesting layer on top of everything else.

To me, it meant what Surely said.

And on an entirely different note:

I just figured something about about Anders versus Andraste.

Everyone assumes that Andraste is the Christ figure.

She's not. She's Moses. Andraste didn't WANT to sacrifice her life, she was reluctant to become a martyr. Anders, however, from healing the sick  and the infirm, to willingly becoming a martyr -- however relieved he might be to "let that cup pass him by," -- he is the more Christ like figure considering the sacrifices he made in his life prior to blowing up the Chantry.

The blowing up the Chantry, though was his "walk with the devil," which he failed and then marrs his Christ-figure traits.

Hawke is either John or Judas, depending on how you play her.

This is only based on what I think Bioware was trying to accomplish, not that I think they succeeded nor am I entirely happy they went this route. And I'm not willing to turn this into a modern day religion debate, only pointing out the literary parallels. So...let's not head down that road, shall we?

I agree with you, pretty much.

I think Anders is gonna end up the Christianity to Andraste's Judaism. Anders's manifesto is the new testament and the Chant is the old testament HUHUHUHUHU BUT AT LEAST THEY'LL HAVE THE BANKS AND THE MEDIA AM I RIGHT </insensitiveantisemiticjokes>

Which begs another question... I hate the idea of killing him, but what if it really was the best thing?

I assume then that it's one of those lines that's intentionally ambigious to allow for differing interpretation, so that makes me feel a bit better that it wasn't easily apparent to me. I love your interpretation of it SurelyForth, if I'm understanding correctly then it's that feeling of "We're both so emotionally involved that it doesn't matter what happens tonight, to lose each other would feel the same if tonight happened or not". Yeah I really really like considering it in that way :)

@darkgriever oh I LOVE your new siggy!!! That's seriously awesome!

Exactly!

And darkgriever, your sig is very nice. I love the background.

Thank you!  Yes I love the background as well. I found that cool pattern and downloaded it and I thought, "Why not use it to make an Anders/Justice siggy?" Plus the inspiration came from this picture http://25.media.tumb...dz4lko1_500.jpg

Ok so...back to business I don't know what to comment so I'll post another pic of Anders

Ok, I have a question regarding Anders' and Hawke's conversation at the mansion just before their night together and it's probably going to make me look very dumb (Posted Image) but I'm just wondering what others think. When Anders says it would kill him to lose Hawke, with snarky Hawke, his/her response is "This won't change that" or words to that effect. Am I correct in understanding that what is meant is that one night together doesn't mean he's not going to lose her/him? It's a practical attitude no doubt but seems just a tad cold so was just wondering what y'all thought Posted Image

Edit: @Madzilla that's really beautifully drawn, I'm going to have to read through previous entries for sure!

I always took it to mean that them getting "together" isnt going to lessen the feeling that it would kill Anders to lose Hawke, but that it will make their bond even stronger and make that feeling that Anders has even stronger.  ie: what they are doing isnt going to change that feeling but make it "worse" as it were.

Good morning everyone!  ^_^

I did worry about that, but the mages rebel anyway, so I figure a leader that disappears into the mists may work just as well. Or else he manges to do something.... else later on.

Plus my PC's make bad and selfish choices for love, and I wouldn't have them any other way.

Yeah... My Fenrismancing Anna Hawke may have to be the one to play Judas while Margaret plays John.

As far as his potential legend goes, I think if you don't kill him there, he'll still end up dying in a suitably martyrly fashion. Or even if he dies of foot infection in a cave somewhere someone will spread the story that the Divine personally crucified him or something.

Oh god. It just came up on my playlist and now I can't get the image of Anders (and random Darktown NPCs!) singing and dancing to this. I don't care if it doesn't totally fit, because the mental images are ****ing hilarious.

You just took my favorite Billy Joel song EVER and made it even more awesome. The mental images lol Anders would so be singing that about my Gina ^_^

True enough. Still, I can't kill him there. Only did it once on my side with the templars playthrough and it was depressing. I'll stick with Hawke protecting Anders until he/she gets kidnapped by Flemeth or whatever the hell else we'll find out happened to him/her

Speaking of depressing, I wanted to see what happened if you broke up with him after sleeping with him.  It was so very sad!!!  :crying:  Waaaaaay sadder than any of the other break-up scenes.  I had to play it again and have Hawke tell him that he loved Anders to make it all better.

Although, when he angrily says "You used me!" I couldn't help but to think "well, I guess that road goes both ways now, eh?"

I'll agree with that. Though even if I play the templars side and need to kill Anders [since the bug is not yet fixed] I always stop playing. I really don't have the guts to kill Anders even if I didn't romance him because he's still a dear friend. Plus I needed a healer :pinched: So if BW really intended Anders to be killed, I'll take the chance and just let him die from other types of death but NOT in my hands.

I've only ever seen it on youtube.. so sad. I'd have to do an instant reload as well! I can't stand sad eyes. It's why I'll never break up with Anders after sex or give Fenris to his master.

edit:
@darkgriever The only time I killed him I was on a hypocritical spirit healer who was romancing Fenris

Yeah, I saw that one on youtube.  Seeing Fenris just completely give up and give in is very disturbing.  Poor guy!

However, if it was a choice between Anders' life and giving Fenris to his master, I'd hand Fenris over with a bow!

You mean this one? Breaking up with Anders or You're Breaking Up with Me? Yes well either I don't romance him or if I do romance him, I won't do that. :pinched:

Edit: Wait actually I accidentally did that one in my first playthrough. I only considered him as a friend and I was romancing Isabela that time so...yeah I had to avoid triggering the romance. As for my other playthroughs, I didn't do any of that and most especially breaking up with Anders after sleeping with him.

Havnt played ME...yet.  I was a die-hard Final Fantasy fan and raaaaarely played any other games.  But FF13 blew so hard, and many of my friends were singing the praises of DA on facebook (this was just as DA2 was released) that I decided to give DA and Bioware a shot.  Woah am I hooked.

Then allow me to recommend both ME1 & 2. ;)  And yes, you have to play 1.

Garrusssssss...... That break up kills me. He just seems so defeated. He only wanted one thing to go right Shepard. Just one thing! Why so cruel? :crying:

I've seen the Anders breakup on youtube, and it was sad but it didn't seem as sad to me as when you break up with Garrus or Jack. I can barely watch either of those on youtube and could never do it, even for science, in game myself.

Honestly, I thought the Anders breakup scene was... hilarious. Snark Hawke's YOU JUST WEREN'T THAT GOOD and Anders's taking-it-deathly-seriously reaction slays me. I mean, it felt pretty bad, but also hilarious.
