Honestly, I thought the Anders breakup scene was... hilarious. Snark Hawke's YOU JUST WEREN'T THAT GOOD and Anders's taking-it-deathly-seriously reaction slays me. I mean, it felt pretty bad, but also hilarious.

Hah okay the snark line I have to see. *loads up save.. for science*

Edit: whoops just noticed I was TOP. I give you... Assassanders

Is it worse than the Garrus or Jack break up?

Havnt played ME...yet.  I was a die-hard Final Fantasy fan and raaaaarely played any other games.  But FF13 blew so hard, and many of my friends were singing the praises of DA on facebook (this was just as DA2 was released) that I decided to give DA and Bioware a shot.  Woah am I hooked.

Then allow me to recommend both ME1 & 2. ;)  And yes, you have to play 1.

Because Mass Effect 1 has Kaidan as a squadmate! Voiced by the same guy who did Carth! ^_^

Just finished my Fenris-romancing Hawke. I think it's time to do a male mage Hawke. He'll probably romance Merrill and be buddies with Anders.

Edit: And the sarcastic line in the breakup is hilarious. It makes me snicker. And then I reload.

It's amazing. The ****-eating grin that goes with it is almost as good.

I think it's worse than the Garrus break up. Basically he's so ****ing psyched to tell Hawke that he loves her/him and Hawke's like "Whatevs. You weren't that good in bed/I'm not that serious about you." His face is just so expressive, it's brutal.

And it makes sense that it would be worse, just because Garrus isn't as obssessed with Shepard as Anders is with Hawke, and it's clear that their friendship would at least remain intact.

Also, I giggle sometimes when I think about the whole "You used me!" line, just because...there are way easier ways for Hawke to get laid, Anders.

True, the snark is funny, but it is also cruel and A LIE.  I mean, c'mon, we all know Anders has to rock in the sack. <3<3

Well, I think emotionally- for him- the break up with Anders is probably much worse. However, the scene itself doesn't kill me as much as the Garrus break up. I'm not sure why. I think it's probably partly the timing. Garrus could die in a couple hours, while Anders at least has a few more years ahead of him.

At any rate, I couldn't do either of them in game. I rely on the bravery of youtube posters.

I think Garrus' break up is worse in comparision to Anders.   Because at that point the man has had his entire team killed by mercenaries, had his face blown up, and later on you find out his mother is dying of a so far uncurable disease.  Shepard his his one bright spot in the world. Which is why I could never do it.

Anders' going through things but on the scale of "why did you do that Hawke/Shepard?"  Garrus wins hands down.  lol

I tried it once just to see, and I gotta be honest... I laughed. I'm a terrible person but there was just something about it... I think the way Anders was animated was spot on, I think Howden's delivery of the lines was spot on.. but I don't know why I found the scenario funny. I mean, the implications of the scene are horrible in that Anders has waited to be with Hawke for years and confesses his love only for Hawke to coldly say not moments into what he sees as the relationship he's always wanted that either he just wasn't good enough or that it was a mistake. Thinking about it, maybe for me then it was just so brutal and cruel that I just couldn't help but laugh.

I have been here a long time, but I mostly avoid the boards since DA2's release. It's good to know there are others who love Anders as much as I do :D

The Garrus breakup is def. worse than Anders. Poor Garrus first gets seduced by someone not even of the same species, gets his hopes up and tries to make everything work all right... and then gets dumped. It's just so wrong and uncool. Just not done, even without knowing of his mother and stuff.

Anders on the other hand is the u-haul lesbian (genuinely freaky to ask to move in after shagging on the first date) and manages to say something hypocritical even when he's upset for being dumped... so no matter how much like a kicked puppy he looks like, he doesn't beat Garrus.

Not that my Hawke's would dump him. Except for science once, and then I had to reload. I did that with Garrus once, too. I'll do anything once, for science.

yes.

I had to reload to try it again because I could not stop the fit of laughter. I got the snarky reply to it the first time too. I felt like a **** but could not take it seriously.

I just see Garrus as being way stronger than Anders, though. And I think he knows he has Shepard's friendship and support, even if they aren't together. With Anders, it's handled so cruelly and he's so ****ed up that it's like pouring salt into a wound with big dark eyes and a very effective pout.

And, at that point, Anders hasn't really used Hawke. That's still three years and a few ten mental breakdowns away.

So, new topic: We know that Anders is not his real name. Anyone hazard a guess on what his real name is?

 Hi there,
so I have a question: I am rivalmancing Anders and I wonder... am I the only
one that will never be able to look at Justice the same way again whenever I
play awakening?... I seriously hate him now... <_<

I don't know, I think "I don't want to do this after all, let's just be friends" is a bit less damaging than "I'm going to string you along for 3 years, use you for sex and then insult your performance and dump you the moment I've had what I wanted". The Anders breakup is basically every HE SLEPT WITH ME AND THEN DIDN'T CALLLLLLLL BAAAWWW scene ever.

We dont know much about the Anderfels, but it seems to have a generally Visgoth/ German base.  Therefore, I would assume Anders' real name is somewhat germanic sounding.  Hmm.  Here's some info on the Anderfels:
http://dragonage.wik.../wiki/Anderfels

Now, the Anderfels are pretty far away from Ferelden.  How did Anders get in a Ferelden Circle?

It's going to be a while before I play Awakening again simply because I find the situation really sad, but I feel differently to you about Justice, I don't hate the character because my view is he's as much a victim/at fault as Anders is. They both agreed to merge and their unfortunate amalgamation is a result of each entity corrupting the other. It's a tragic situation for both of them really.

I thought his parents moved him to Ferelden as a small child?
