It's sad but I did a run through anyway for science. And to see the manifesto get read. It was kind of interesting that even rival Hawke is all "I want you right here til the day we die!!!!!" Also, Justice is one scary SOB on the rival path. (My apologies for my computer sucking).
At any rate, I made my Danny to make up for Pinky McPunk!Hawke being mean to him. I couldn't do that again.. but I am curious to see what happens if you rival him but cave and side with the mages at the end (no way I'm killing Bethany!) whenever things get fixed

I tried to rival him with my Fenris-mancing Hawke.

Failed miserably. I know you can get enough rivalry points without hating mages, I just couldn't seem to manage it. Anna was still anti-Abomination at every turn, but it wasn't enough. Gave up when I realized she was more than halfway to Friendship and to try to gain rivalry at that point would slam him back into the middle where he goes nuts.

This!  I've been wanting to try the rivalmance and have been waiting for the latest patch to do so, but the more I hear about it, the more heartbreaking it is! It genuinely makes me sad to think that his losing his fight against Justice/Vengeance slowly strips away who he is to the point where he wants to die, and that if you don't grant him that wish, he can't trust himself to do anything, make any decisions and so must rely on Hawke's judgements. I remember a while back someone here made a comparison to Ketojan at this point which just fits (tragically) perfectly; he was incapable of autonomy and just wanted to to follow orders, which I recall Anders very strongly vocalising his opposition to that line of thought. To think that on the rivalry path he himself becomes almost exactly that...

Ohhhh nooooooo! That's even worse. Ketojan made me cry on my second run through, first time I'd given him back because he seemed to want it. The second time I forced freedom on him and.... :crying:
I can't make Anders become mindless and in need of direction. That's just too horrible.

*looks up at Camelot on the TV* - There are a suprising number of boobies in this episode.

I don't think his state of mind at that point is entirely permanent.  No one can stay like that forever.  But that's a story for fic.

So on a slightly funny note on rivalmance. I just woke up and the song "Tainted Love" was playing on my radio and since I was in that I am asleep and waking up mode, I got this image of Anders and Fenris singing the song in those damn 80's sunglasses whilst in nothing but boxers(Anders had kitties on it and Fenris had doggy bones) It was funny, Then "when doves cry" starting playing...we don't need to go into that. Then I read the thread and I am glad I heart the friendmance, to me he seems more there, but that is all based on opinion so. I have a rivalmance saved for the patch.

I dreamt last night of Fenris synchronized dancing around a bunch of trees with a clan of Fenris-like elves who had the markings and such. He looked so embarrassed. I was amused by this dream until I realized it was the first time I have had a DA character appear in my dream... and it wasnt Anders! Hey guys! I actually completed the rivalmance, and LOVE it. My first 4 playthroughs were all friend, I was scared to try rival. But I did it, and I like it just as much as friend. Once it's fixed without using the console, I will do it just as much. My issue was siding with Merideth, that is the only thing that got me about it. I mean anyone can see that woman has lost her marbles in act 3. But as far as Anders goes, there were more convos, and it was so dramatic.

But I won't say 1 is better than the other. I like friend ending, and TBH I think it can be for the best, with Hawke's support. What can I say? I love mages and think they need their freedom. I believe the pair can make a difference.

Edit: but why can't I get a kiss on the friendship route? D:< Toolset please!!!!

Wow, the comic is very emotional and provoking... love it! And LOL at sitting on the Box of Shame.

I eventually plan to do a rivalmance run-through. Will be tough, though. But not a complete templar playthorugh, though... someone mentioned doing a rivalmance but ultimately end up siding with the mages anyway, and that's kind of my plan for Margaret the S&S warrior.

But right now I'm too distracted by completely new territory... have not once done a bi or homosexual playthrough. I'm a chick and have done plenty of the heterosexual ones both as a male and female character in DAO and DA2. Now, I've finally bitten the bullet and made a sarcastic, smarmy archer dude (see current avatar) for Anders... and I kind of want to pinch Garrett's cheeks. He's so cute!

Granted, it will be utterly hilarious whenever my husband inevitably walks in RIGHT when they start the on-screen snogging. LOLOLOL

Wanna know what is pathetic? I'm already planning IRS - Anders....and that is the first addition. Now all I need is the toolset....

Seriously though, IF we got one, I am really content with what is in game. I might do a character swap and add 1 scene where it is suggested in Act3....but I mostly want a dang kiss at the gallows on the friend path >:{

So yes once the patch is released I'm definitely going to load my rivalmance of Anders. Then I'll see which is more dramatic [though I'm guessing it is more on the rivalmance than on the friendmance but hey....I'm really a pro-mage so I'm just going to do this for science! :lol: I honestly don't like siding with the templars even during DA:O]

And I'll have to agree with the kissing scene. Got my a little disappointed because all the other LIs have the final kissing scene and Anders doesn't have one on the friendmance. Such a shame.

Yeah in siding with her you get the better socpe that she is past in the deep end, she is out in a ****ing ocean.  Seriously though, that whole city was siting in the ocean.  My first Hawke was so far gone, she coulsn't be mad with Anders(poor girl was severing from reality with everything that happened to her.) 

now Michael Hawke, was going to kick his ass into the next age after they got out of the mess.

Sorry got side tracked.  I really don't get how people miss her crazy in the first place, hell she basically has a Vegas neon sign over her head that says she is.

LOL...I see people saying how she did nothing wrong and I'm like wait....did we play the same game??? Regardless of how you feel about Anders actions...it's clear she's freaking nuts. Tbh....I think some people just hate Anders so much that they don't want to agree with anything he does. And yes I've seen this first hand. Half of these people haven't even maxed him either way, which imo you shouldn't really decide on a character until you have done so.
