On a Anders and Fable 3 note. I could've sworn I heard Howden in the game. I just can't remember who.

I believe it is Andy the Villiger in Brightwall.

If I recall correctly, I was told that the villager that Howden voices says something about needing to have washed his armpits that day? :-P

Yeah I thought it was funny mostly because he was in Brightwall.

I was like damn Anders in Kirkwall and Andy in Brightwall.  I see what they did there.

 Nice.

And playying Fable 3 makes me look at DA2's severe lack of combat finishers in disappointment. I love the varying finishers in Fable 3. I have to say my fav is the jump on the humanoid opponents shoulder with the neck snap between the legs. <3

That and the grabbing the wolf by the throat when it tries to bite the hero and gutting it.

I love that one!

Also yeah I miss finishers too.  I so hoping for them when I saw mage Hawke rip the Orge in two, I was like "Oh hell yes!"  I was expecting some epic mage fnishers, since they got none in the first game.

It's a very sexy finisher.   And I love the other guys "Oh sh*t!" reaction when you do one. XD

Yes the exploding ogre finisher would've looked nice on humans. I don't even recall any finishers outside of the cutscenes (Feynriel got a finisher if Hawke killed him, the high dragon, the ogre in the prologue, the rock wraith in the primevial thaig...I can't recall the other finishers outside the rogue explosive one with Feynriel's kidnapper.)

And yes I was totally looking forward to some shattered enemies (or burning) mage finishers. Alas it was not to be. Doesn't feel like there was any rogue/warrior finishers either. :(

Nope just explody corpses when we crit like mages. Just on the boss fights as it were.  So sad.  Granted te way combat looks, I feel like a badass anyhow.  Mages look so much better in combat now .  Thank all that is good for that.

Indeed. And yes nothing beats killing a foe with a backstab + twin fangs. (Well other than the neck snap.  ) And yes no more pew pew shooter. :wizard:

Imagine Anders and Justice fighting with the pew pew shooter staffs. Poor guys.

I really kinda wish Anders did more limb ripping like the in the short story. Now THAT would have been cool.

That's a great Janders piccy. Nom.
And yes, I do miss the decapitations and ogre stabbing from Origins but mages got diddled in that game (mage warden even had to use a sword on the archdemon). I do like the new staff combat moves - very badass.

Flipping hell, it all kicks off as I go to bed? Lame! I do so enjoy a good serious debate.

Anyway, gonna drop in my tuppence because I didn't see this view posted. And it is based on my own view that nothing will seperate Anders and Justice. So if you disagree with that pov, you're probably gonna disagree with what comes next. :P

As I see it Hawke's interaction directs how Anders deals with the internal conflict with Justice. The merge must be fairly fresh by the time Hawke and Anders meet, and Anders has yet to find a way to cope with it fully - which is why he throws himself into work, because if he's working he doesn't have to think. My starting point is that Anders must be incredibly strong to start with to have not burst into a full abomination, as Justice (if it is the Justice from DAA had already shown worrying signs of desires - how is it 'just' to terrify Kristoff's wife? Horrid bit of the game. My Warden gave him a telling off).

The rival-mance path then works to undermine the joining, but it fails to strengthen Anders, so Vengence gains ground and 'assumes direct control' a lot more. Intentions may be to show him the error of his ways, you may agree with freeing mages but not the abomination, but all that I see happening is that you're weakening the one thing keeping Vengence in check - namely Anders.

The friend-mance path works to support Anders, you don't have to be militant mage-rights, but just sympathetic to their plight, and understanding of what Anders did. You don't have to agree 100% that it was the right thing, but just acknowledge that he had good intentions when he did it. It confirms his world view and strengthens his resolve, which in turn makes him more confident in his choices and decisions. He and the part of him that is now Justice are pulling towards the same goal, however I also think that if something came up that Anders and Justice disagreed with Anders would have enough strength to over-rule him (the noticeable absense of 'direct control' in the friendmanced path).

The uncomfortable thing with this pov, is that friendmanced you have to acknowledge that Anders blew up the Chantry in a calculated move, knowingly and willingly. Which I am happy with, and would 100% condone within the confines of the game.

RL issues, I'm sure we all have them, and the type of help individuals need varies. But even friendmanced Hawke does get to disagree with Anders methods, and tell him vociferously in the Justice quest. Just because you love someone doesn't mean you're a doormat.

/End

Edit
Best rogue combo - stealth + lacerate + backstab + twinfangs. Takes down an ogre/ Revenant instantly in a interesting explosion of gore.

Very nice picture. The crow - which reminds me of Zevran, thus linking my two favorite Dragon Age NPCs - is very well done!

Hmmm...ElleMullineux does have a point.

Besides for me, I find being rivals with your companions hard. I mean I want to be friends with my companions as much as possible but that doesn't mean I agree will all the things they want. I still have my own set of beliefs that are not complementing my companions. But it would be good if they would accept mine just as I accepts theirs. In Anders case, I find it really complicated. I like him friendmanced but in rivalmance there is more drama in it and more emotions. But if I'm going to be asked in real life, of course I'll prefer the friendmance one than the rivalmanced.

Edit: And just to share it. I always play my first playthroughs based on what I believe so with that, I really support the mages as well as condoning Anders despite not really accepting the means. With that said, I'm going back to what I'm doing now

Same. I have rivalled Merrill (as a friend, I've not romanced her) but she's a friend in the current playthrough. The only one I like to rival is Sebastian so that he accepts his birthright. All but one of my Hawkes have been pro-mage (understandably, given the magic in the family lineage) so didn't approve too much of his Chantry leanings.

My pro-templar Hawke had 100% rivalry with Anders rather quickly and ended up killing him. That was a hard playthrough and I didn't enjoy it much but it was good to see the rival dialogues, especially the one where he admits he's losing control. (And then I immediately made a new mage Hawke and went back to romancing him. What a relief).

Haha, that's great. Anders should have just gone to Hogwarts when he first escaped the Circle. I think my Hawke would say the same and she's not even a mage. Rather be a janitor or something in Hogwarts than anything in Kirkwall.

I always rival Merril and Fenris - Merril I think needs to be able to stand on her own two feet. And Fenris... I like to be able to shout at him and tell him he's still a slave because he can't let go. And I like the Angry sex. It plays out better in my headcanon that way, and then it's super cute when he's all defensive of Hawke when out walking with Anders in Act 3. :D

Oh, and I tried to rival Seb, and gave up and friended him instead... in the hope that he'll stay in the Chantry and go boom (wishful thinking, I know) - plus he would suck at being a prince. Anyone who thinks they might be good at it would totally fail. I can't wait to kick his arse in the DLC/Expansion/DA3/Wherever his troll face turns up.

I managed to take a snap with my phone of the buggy bit of Isabella's Act3 quest at the Estate... *sigh* This is the most intimacy I'll get from Anders for the rest of the game. :(
