You know the best part about it? Garrett's arm doesn't look like it's about to fall off his shoulder from the sheer weight of it. Seriously, the arm in the champion armor gives me all kinds of wiggins, which is too bad as it's otherwise the coolest armor set in the game.

I'm the opposite, I don't read anything that isn't F!Hawke. Mostly because I don't play anything except F!Hawke, but I do love F! Mage Hawke with Anders.

Being female I usually have trouble roleplaying male characters. I tried to romance Anders with my male mage but this playthrough stopped shortly after Anders told about his relations with Karl (a dialog which female Hawkes can't get
). What is strange to me is that I can't read fanfics with F!Hawke and Anders - I simply don't enjoy them even if they are written by talented authors. But fics and artwork with M!Hawke and Anders
- I like them very-very much!

I personally, don't have a problem with either pairing. I have a male mage who rivalmances Anders and a female warrior who friendmances him. My warrior happens to be my canon playthrough, and she was my first character, so I kinda have a greater emotional attachment to her and Anders than to my mage and Anders. - But I don't prefer one romance over the other.
I just think maybe the M!Hawke/Anders - pairing is just a lot more popular than the FHawke/Anders pairing, regarding fanart/fanfiction, and therefore it seems more natural and ... more familiar than Anders/Female Hawke?
I don't know honestly, but that's one possible explanation. Because personally I don't think that either the homosexual or heterosexual romance is better, they are both good in their own ways.

Now I'm sort of over it and am, in fact, about to make my first male Hawke ever. I like to think I might NOT go after Anders as LI in this but somehow I think that's exactly where I'll end up.

Hawke/Anders is canon. F!Hawke is canon, M!Hawke is canon. Some of use prefer one over the other, but disparaging either pairing is not cool, especially since we have a lot of artists and writers in this thread.
Also, besides being exactly the sort of thing that makes people not want to post in this thread, it also leaves us open for people who believe strongly the other direction which...big ****ing can of worms that I would love to avoid.

Do it! There are really some great differences in dialogue that make both genders of the Handsy relationship (it will catch on, I decree it!) unique. I don't feel like either one is more or less canon than the other. And my opinion on the reading and writing of fanfic is that we're all playing in the same sandbox with more or less the same tools, but the unique snowflakes we were, we all produce something a bit different. Even reading someone else's m!mage!Hawke and Anders fic, I know it's not my m!mage!Hawke. And that's just fine.
Maybe I've been reading too much Philip K. Dick and all of his alternate universes theories, but I have no problem conceptualizing Anders with any other Hawkes. And it's interesting to read stuff where he's with a LI vastly different from my own. He's a complex and fascinating character. I look at every fanfic as a "what if" scenario offering insight into how the story would play out under other circumstances.

We've had three-day long debates on this. And considering some threads on the DA:O side got permanently split over this issue, we're trying to keep it to a minimum.

Although, I adore the fact that the Techno Turian was included in the sas list of unromanceables. But, on topic, I totally tried to animate Anders dancing the techno turian and got lazy when I realized how hard it was.
