I thought the black outfit was scary, I didn't realize it was tied to the romance. Its like he buttoned up to the neck for Serious Business. The closed jacket says a lot, symbolically. It's his "I love you but I kind of regard us as 'over', because of what I'm about to do" outfit.

I agree; I didn't like the black outfit.  It made me sad.  The feathers look nicer, but it was overall a depressing change.

I thought his outfit change was the only change that wasn't tied to romance?

I think both of his outfits are really cool. The black one looks great with Justice glow. :)

...Actually, anything looks great with Justice glow. But the black outfit matches!

Really? I had a romance with Fenris and he had that black outfit.

I need your input. Do you think this Prince of Persia: Two Thrones song would be an excellent Anders theme song, or well, about the romance?

The storyline sort of mirrors the Prince's, he manifests a darker side from his suppressed rage and despair, who starts influencing his deeds.

I Still Love You.

Okay totally random, I just loaded an old save before the Justice quest and if you choose the red fist option after he tells you about the ingredients he needs to collect you go something like "WHat are you not telling me?" and he responds "Oh many things I'm sure. Did I tell you that I had a dream about the grand cleric in which she was basically naked except her (something) and there was a giant glowing cheese wheel"

.... hahaha a cheese reference! Maybe Anders IS Maric's son after all

He looks really excellent in the black get-up. Partially because it suits his coloring and it doesn't look like he just got done delivering a set of triplets, and partially because it's fierce as ****. Look at those feathers! If I were Hawke, I'd be spending way too much time touching his pauldrons.

Yes, Hawke spends lots of time thinking about touching his... pauldrons. ::ahem::

If I knew where it was, I would post that hilarious picture of naked Lady Hawke going "Your shoulders are sooooo fluffy" XD

I think of that picture a lot. I can totally see my Hawke doing that. Grumpy Anders is too cute to think about, too.

Anders: I have to work on my manifesto!
Hawke: But I'm naked! Half the work is done for you!
Anders: *shrugs out of pauldrons* Play with it for a few minutes while I finish up this paragraph
Hawke: eeeeeeeee!
Anders: *comes to bed after a Justice fueled writing session to find Hawke curled up in nothing but his feathers*
Anders: Goddammit, Justice.

This is pretty much EXACTLY how my crazy Lady Hawke is.  She is easily distracted by fluffy or shiny things.

I honestly think that drawing influenced my characterization of her a lot. XD

My impression is that he'll get that outfit if you complete the Justice quest with him, he gains that outfit.

The black outfits for me means he's ready for serious business and Hawke get the hell out of the way if you're not going to help.

Which is why I haven't let him change into. He changes into that when he puts the bomb in the Chantry and I never help him do that.

I'm almost positive his is tied purely to helping him in Justice while the other three get new outfits if you sleep with them.

I love Isabela and Fenris' matching red bands in my game. I imagine them bringing them up at inopportune times once Hawke settles down with Anders. (And Anders is all "Where's my red band?" and Hawke just shrugs and mumbles something about only having so many tokens of affection to dole out.)

omigah every time I come back to this thread it's like twenty pages later and I've missed all the excitement! You guys are awesome.

On the (belated) topic of noses ^ my current-playthrough rogue Lady Hawke kinda has one, though it's more-- uh, for lack of a better term, no-pun-intended, hawkish than anything? XD Most of the odd shaped noses on the Lady Hawkes are decidedly less charming than on the Man Hawkes, though.

It is tied to helping him do the entire Justice thing, my husband's Anders was wearing it and he only romanced Merril in his (first) playthrough. He did not wear it in my first MANHAWKE playthrough because my dude refused to be emotionally blackmailed. You tell 'im, Alexander. That stuff ain't cool.

Ah well that makes sense then, it is meant to be a serious business outfit.

...goddammit Anders.

I just did "Justice," and agreed to help. I have to distract the Grand Cleric first, for him to change, don't I.

It was sort of funny, my husband was all, "Whoa, why did Anders change his outfit." Then he looked at me and I looked at him and he narrowed his eyes and was like, "He's going to do something really stupid, isn't he?" and I smiled innocently while I CRIED INSIDE. Waaaaah!

I thought the black outfit looked good, but it was way too ominous for me too like 100%. He would just stand there in Hawke's house, looking down on everything. Every time I saw him up there in that outfit, it depressed me. But then he gave the hilarious dog/bed speech while in that outfit and it lost some of its edge.

As to the M!Hawke vs F!Hawke, I just always prefer playing as a girl. It's nice that you can at least make hot male characters in BW games. However, since I usually am a warrior, or something equally aggressive, it just feels more satisfying to do that as a girl. Lady Hawke with a giant two-handed sword is just epic. Plus, the idea of fem warrior babying Anders always gives me chuckles.

I loved the black outfit, but I own the entire Sisters of Mercy discography, so that's probably to be expected. ;)

And I feel like I'm the only one with a semi-virginal Hawke for Anders. Not that she didn't WANT to get her groove on, just that she thought getting that close to anyone was too risky what with the whole "I'm an apostate, sis is an apostate, dad's an apostate" thing. (that, and I wanted a change from Maggie "tower mattress" Amell this go-around)
Meeting Anders was a happy day for her. He pretty much had her at "Knight-Commander's head on a spike."
