I'll confess, music is a huge part of my writing process. I just stare at the blank white page for hours without it (and, if I'm honest, sometimes I do the same thing even with it; I'm a terrible procrastinator that way). For "Promises, Promises," I found myself listening to The Choke by Austra. (The video's a bit random, but it's the only mention of it I can find on youtube.)
