*takes deep breath*

Finally! Chapter 6 just went up to FF.net. It might take it a few minutes to show up, but at least it's done.

it's arrived!

Okay, I read this originally as playing cards, not title cards, and now I'm thinking about having a whole deck of DA2 themed playing cards and I want it like burning.

That would be unspeakably awesome. I have a pack of Fallout New Vegas playing cards, which are amazing, but DA2 would be better.

Now I'm kicking my own ass for not making my fic titles card-game themed. Especially since the show Community did their Western spoof and used card names for all of the characters. I could have ripped off the idea!

And Anders would get to be the King of Hearts, since I'm wary of the Anders is a Woman! stuff.

Can I just say how much I missed Anders' earring in DA2? Does Justice disapprove of jewelery? Is it an icon from a simpler time? I don't really care. I want Hawke to notice the damn hole (I could make a joke here, but it's too easy; feel free to fill it in with an obligatory "that's what she said," though) and pick up something shiny and purdy for his apostate BF.

In short, I support Give Anders an Earring DLC.

I could just be a DLC where we decorate him with all of the gifts he lost from Awakening. Get him Ser Pounce, his earring, a pretty scarf...

While looking for reference pictures of Bethany, I figured the most disturbing thing I would see was an abundance of boob shots. I was wrong!

Anders... what happened to you! And white Izzy. *hiss spit gag*

Oh, look.  Gossip Girl comes to Kirkwall! *

*No offense to fans of that show or its characters.  That just what they all made me think of.

Well, I haven't played a male Hawke, so he's not been gay (or bi, rather) in any of my playthroughs.

I just can't get on-board anymore because of other comments on other boards I've seen where they say that Anders is feminine because he's clingy, or obsessive, or emotional. Which he's all of those things, but they don't make him a woman (because, heaven knows you can't be a clingy, obsessive or emotional man).

And it wasn't really aimed at you, kromify. I just have my hackles up because of a conversation I've been having IRL about those sorts of things.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: whitewashing companions is ridiculously offensive. I'm against mods that change their faces to begin with, but skin tone...really?

Not to mention they all look like they're maybe 14.

Really. She's, what, the only companion who can be considered dark skinned? And even that is so offensive that someone has to mod her white.

But it isn't racism, apparently. Just a preference. I don't even.

Technically speaking, he'd still be bi. It's canon that Karl was his first whether he mentions it to f!Hawke or not (and believe me, I wish he did; I think it's a great conversation and it's a shame LadyHawke doesn't get to hear it).

But I agree with you completely about stereotyping Anders as female because of his personality. It also implies that all women (or at least a decent chunk of them) are also clingy, obsessive, and emotional. And when we're not, we get accused of "wearing the pants" in the relationship, as though somehow being aloof and independent is such a feat for us delicate womenfolk.

Nope, I'm not bringing personal bitterness into this. Not at all.

~Stands right beside Hi-C in the lanes of personal bitterness~

When my husband and I met some members of a different board for the first time IRL, they were surprised to find that he and I have an equal relationship.  Somehow, because I speak my mind, it had been assumed I dominated him.

Anyone here think Hawke of either gender dominates Anders?  (And no, I don't consider the rivalry path dominating him automatically.)

Oh, I know he's bi. I was just saying he's never been with a male Hawke in my game, so I don't mentally default to Gay Anders (which he never is, anyway).

And, if anything, Hawke is the Queen of Hearts considering all the people s/he can hit then quit.

I actually think Anders would be the King or maybe Ace of Spades.  Being a death card and all.

I haven't played the rival path, so I wont comment on that one. On the friendship side, though, at least he and m!Hawke seem pretty egalitarian. Anders might look to Hawke for comfort after the Justice quest, but he also offers comfort after All That Remains. There seems to be a fairly equal give and take, at least in my eyes.

I feel your pain. The fiance and I consider ourselves egalitarians, and we're currently planning our wedding. Everyone assumes I am in charge of this thing - that I make the decisions.

Truth is: weddings terrify me. I like parties, and I want to be married because we are committed emotionally and I feel that committment needs legal protection (believe me, the horror stories of cohabiting couples in difficult situations after the death of one partner are awful). I turn up to most wedding related things and say: I dunno. My partner is 10x more fussy than I will ever be, he usually has some idea of what would be nice.

When I explain this to people - they assume our 'roles' have been 'reversed'. That I am the 'man' in the relationship. They also assume that I am somehow unromantic or unsentimental, despite the fact that I have been with the same, lovely human being since I was 16 years old (that's 7 years).

Sometimes, people drive me crazy.

Yeah, I figured as much. But there's so much Anders-can't-be-bi-in-my-game-that's-icky outside this thread, I think my hackles snap up automatically. Some part of my brain goes, them's fighting words and then I start typing out manifestos on sexuality and...I'll stop now.

Hmm...playing cards, playing cards. I think my Hawke would be a Joker, personally. A wrench in everybody's carefully laid plans and always trying to liven things up. Anders...Anders is a whole hand. Aces and eights, baby.

oh lord... try and be witty just once and screw it up
i like that anders is pansexual. and whilst i'm sure part of the reason he likes hawke is because she is strong (and because of popular demand after awakenings) i know that doesn't make him weak. quite the opposite in fact since he isn't threatened by it.
though it's hard to imagine he has time to be threatened by anything not templar related...

Yeah, no.Not a hang up I have. Anders is openly bi in my Lady Hawke fic (although she had to ask him about Karl (stupid game)). Pretty much all of my Wardens/Hawkes/Shepards are bi or lesbians (sorry "lesbian", in Shep's case), and I've always assumed that Anders appreciated the hot (or, in some cases, nice), regardless of gender.

And that's another one of the areas where DA2 bugs me. Anders is bi. My Hawke is bi. Isabela is bi, and Zevran shows up all open to fun*. Whyyyyyyy can't we just ride that wave of awesomeness to its inevitable conclusion? Seriously.

*Also, Anders has been, at the very least, in an intimate situation with Isabela, who (in my game) has slept with Hawke AND Zevran. Hawke should really be able to cajole Anders in, for nostalgia of a time when he longed for a harem and a bunch of nubile mistresses if nothing else.

so what would the other characters be...?

i can get on board with anders being the joker. i think seb gets to be 2 of clubs, issy can now be the queen of hearts, and aveline is the 9 of diamonds (the safe bet in newmarket)

There should definitely be an option for Izzy, Zev, Hawke threesome. It's in keeping with all their characters (unless Zev is in a romance with the Warden). But I get why Anders maybe wouldn't want to participate. He went four years denying himself Hawke, to whom he was not only attracted, but also in love with. So I can see why he'd turn down Zev, at least at this point in time.

Also, being bi doesn't mean wanting to jump everyone's bones (I'm sure that's not how you meant it, but speaking again from personal experience, you have no idea how many times I get to explain that one to people; it's why I like the term pansexual).
