Can I just say how much I missed Anders' earring in DA2? Does Justice disapprove of jewelery? Is it an icon from a simpler time? I don't really care. I want Hawke to notice the damn hole (I could make a joke here, but it's too easy; feel free to fill it in with an obligatory "that's what she said," though) and pick up something shiny and purdy for his apostate BF.
In short, I support Give Anders an Earring DLC.
Hate that damn thing xD
You Arishoked me? For that!?!
Oh, fine. No earring for Anders. You'll be sorry though. I bet lots and lots of purdy things are all it would taken to snap him out of his depression. Now we'll just have to drag a whiny, mopey mage around the Wounded Coast post-Jenga while Hawke does the Put a Ring on It dance.
Man...I'm seriously sleep deprived or something.

I always thought that he had to sell off his earring (and anything else of value) while running the clinic in Kirkwall. It's not free running a charity, charging nothing.

Don't know whether to be impressed at hubby's perception of the inner working of my mind, or try to pick a fight.
Earring... I think it was just rendered poorly. If it was all nice and normal looking you'd love it. It makes him look roguish and ever so slightly louche.

Give him a kitten with a shiny bell collar. Works infinitely better than any smelly earring. Also the kitten is a mage.

And Anders would get to be the King of Hearts, since I'm wary of the Anders is a Woman! stuff.
i was going more for the gay side of things...
Well, I haven't played a male Hawke, so he's not been gay (or bi, rather) in any of my playthroughs.
I just can't get on-board anymore because of other comments on other boards I've seen where they say that Anders is feminine because he's clingy, or obsessive, or emotional. Which he's all of those things, but they don't make him a woman (because, heaven knows you can't be a clingy, obsessive or emotional man).
And it wasn't really aimed at you, kromify. I just have my hackles up because of a conversation I've been having IRL about those sorts of things.
Technically speaking, he'd still be bi. It's canon that Karl was his first whether he mentions it to f!Hawke or not (and believe me, I wish he did; I think it's a great conversation and it's a shame LadyHawke doesn't get to hear it).
But I agree with you completely about stereotyping Anders as female because of his personality. It also implies that all women (or at least a decent chunk of them) are also clingy, obsessive, and emotional. And when we're not, we get accused of "wearing the pants" in the relationship, as though somehow being aloof and independent is such a feat for us delicate womenfolk.
Nope, I'm not bringing personal bitterness into this. Not at all.
*delurks* to just agree totally with this. A lot of my studies focus on examining differences in emotional attachments and there really are no gender biases in terms of whether someone is of the emotional clingy/jealous/obsessive type or stand-offish/emotionally distant/uncomfortable with closeness type, it's a total cliche but it's so much more to do with the experiences people have growing up that will determine whether or not they feel either insecure about their partner or whether they need to maintain independence and shy away from commitment than what gender determines. So when I hear talk about a man (or male character in this sense) who is more emotionally invested or insecure in his relationships being labelled a woman it just riles me up! *whew* sorry, end rant

Look at Anders. Now look at your man. Now look at Anders. Now look at your man. He's not Anders. But he could do a spicy shimmey like Anders if you poke him long enough. Now look at my hand. It's a fluffy kitten in a jingling color. Now look at me. Back to my hand. The kitten is magic.
Yeah...it's the first place my mind went. Sleep. I need it. Sadly, still have two pages of a paper on Synge left to write and three more chapters of Ulysses to read.
Edit: Also, now I'm picturing OldSpiceGuy!Anders. Someone with photoshop magic should make this happen. *wishes she could say "Make it so, Number One" without looking like even more of a giant geek*

I am not fundamentally opposed to earrings. I am opposed to ugly big hoops, especially when combined with the worst ponytail ever. Now, a small cuff-style earring or a plain metal stud or something? Fine. I don't think it'd suit him as he is now but it wouldn't disgust me like that ugly hoop earring did. Anyway, we all know Varric and Isabela have the monopoly on sexy piercings, Anders missed the boat.
Well, I agree with you about the ponytail. Anders' DA2 style is a huge improvement. But earrings have their uses. Particularly when teeth get involved. I concede your point about it not really suiting his DA2 personality. I can see my Hawke finding the hole, though, and completely geeking out. But knowing Noah, he'd just end up getting a piercing himself rather than plying Anders with shiny, pretty things. And if we're lucky it'd just be his ears.

So, Anders types.
If I were to attempt to dig up one of the Anders tribute-type videos that showed up here at some point or other, is there an easier way of doing so than painstakingly digging through the entire thread? Is there an archive, ready to be perused at leisure? I do love me some perusin'.
My favourite one still is
Anders/Justice Tribute, by AronaBFC
Followed by these two
Hurricane, by Arona BFC
Memories, by Xeriana11
Meh, I had to read Ulysses too and I concluded that, for as much as I like Joyce, Ulysses is not readable. You can study it if you have, but it's not a read >.<highcastle wrote...

Speaking of earrings, my ears refused them. After a week of struggling with infections, changing every type of metal, the effort and pain just wasn't worth it. I was little, maybe ten or so, I have horrible memories. The holes closed in two days :°D
Sometimes I would like to try again but...I think I'll survive without.

And I'm on my third attempt at piercing. The other two got badly infected before we realized I was allergic to nickel.

Interesting. Mine, despite having them since I was 14, and I assure y'all I'm quite a bit older now, start healing up within a month. And I wear hoops bigger than Anders did.
Clearly this means only one thing: you have superpowers. Are you Wolverine? Claire Bennet? Is it save-the-cheerleader-save-the-world time?
And I'm on my third attempt at piercing. The other two got badly infected before we realized I was allergic to nickel.
Bah. We just established conclusively that you have superpowers. You can't be allergic to nickle. Unless it's like your kryptonite. Mm...kind of lame. Though still better than the Green Lanterns and the color yellow. :/

Besides, he's a healing mage. He could close that thing up with a wink and a smile.

Any Hawke will do. Though, if we want to be technical about it, lady Hawke might be best since it starts with "Hello, ladies." But I'm willing to ignore that.
