Anders is one of three characters that more or less consumed me. I haven't romanced him yet, but I have watched his scenes on Youtube The rival version is something I really like. So, I'm wondering what sort of character you use for rivalmancing and how you justify the Hawke/Anders relationship. I'm thinking just being an unrepentant blood mage and dealer with demons isn't enough.

I'd imagine when he told my Hawke about that she just patted his cheek. "You know, you always make me laugh. We're revolutionaries on the run from, um, EVERYBODY and you honestly think either of us will live anywhere near that long?"

I think I was oblivious to the dark-side switch from sleep deprivation, but his new clothes originally hit me as a positive sign, lol. I was like "YES! He's cleaning himself up, no more hobo duds!" And it never occurred to me to wonder why. e_e

When I rival-manced him I went with a 'The Circle is a necisary evil' type character. It's funny how much that gets under his skin. Throw in a couple of pro-templar and pro-Fenris comments and you can have full blown rival-mance with out being a complete d***head.:innocent:

I knew that he was thinking about doing something suicidal after I saw him trying to give away his pillow as a gift. After after beating the game twice (executed him and let him live) and am now playing a mage hunter, I get the feeling that he WANTS to die and is disappointed if you don't kill him. He even has dreams of becoming a martyr for mages everywhere. I pretty much feel like I'll let him live out of spite for now on.

I scared my boyfriend because I started yelling at the screen, "Why'd you change your clothes, Anders? Why'd you change them, HUH? WHAT DID YOU DO?"

Semi OT - There's a short fanfic I read that illustrates the rivalmance from a certain perspective really well;

Failsafe by elysium_fic (NSFW, M!Hawke/Anders)

The story is not the pro-bloodmage/demon, and is more pro-Circle, which is another way to get rival points (without going full pro-templar, I think). Granted, I haven't done the rivalmance myself yet, though, so I'm only theorizing.

Ahahaha I was still naive enough to think of it as him taking a step back towards his impeccable Awakening!Anders persona, where he was all about the clean and the shiny. HOW WRONG I WAS. *weeps* Seriously, I thought he'd gotten a handle on Justice and that's where his resolve was coming from.

The dark theme didn't register on my radar at all - it's actually similar in colour to his rags (which I've always seen as faded/extremely worn) so I was thinking he went out and got a tailor to make him an outfit how his current one would have looked if he hadn't been wearing it for years. ;^;

I think the "creepiness" of large age gaps is subjective.  I personally like older men.  Old enough to be my father?  No.  But I don't think Anders is THAT much older than Hawke.  Maybe five or six years?  That's not that huge a difference, personally.

Yeah, I'd say he's 6 or 7 years older.  Maybe around 29 or 30, while to me Hawke is 23.

It makes his "Don't threaten me, little girl" comment much more interesting, IMO.  But I found that strangely titillating anyway. 

more dialog I missed lol? Where does he say this, I did the friendship and rivalry romance and missed this...

I'm lovin' the screenshots, y'all. I really don't take any, and when I do, they're at the exact wrong time or they just look like crap, because I'm on the Medium (no high res pack) setting. >_>
