I have a confession. I love drawing Fenris! I... I would possibly be tempted into Fenders just to have a reason to draw more of him. But then my brain might implode or something, so I better not.

EDIT: Ugh, what a thing to have up top.

EDIT 2: Mother of... I'm just gonna go cry again. Photobucket hates me. >_>

There isn't anyone I wouldn't kill to be hired to storyboard DA3 D: Or just to make everyone coffee and squee all over the place. Annoyingly all the good stuff get done in Canada and the States, the Irish studio handles boring programming and advertising and crap, no creative work at all.

I love how more and more people decide to brave twitter for Howden haha

That sounds unhygenic.
[/Ridcully]

I'd love to work in such a creative environment, though!  Trouble is, as soon as I start getting paid for anything I actually want to do, it becomes a chore, and I cease enjoying it :pinched:

I went through the same thing you did, minus the Fenders thing and with writing. He's hard to write for, but fun when you can get him right.

And he looks awesome, too!

He's made my main devArt page look hilarious. The way it's laid out currently, Fenris is glaring at Anders and while Wil smirks at him. Something along the lines of:  <_<>  <;)

I'm an Anders girl at heart (of course!) but I do like Fenris too (working on some fanart at the mo actually). I love how you've drawn him, that expression is just perfect!

LOL It's the same in my favorites box, only minus Wil. I love seeing him all glare-y.

Regarding the Bioware offices - they started in Edmonton but it's not a very desirable place for people to go. After my stint as a games journalist, I worked in games industry recruitment (this was up until last year, in fact) and despite the fact most games devs would fall over themselves to work for a company with Bioware's reputation, you'd be surprised how many turned down jobs there due to the location. Often it wasn't them, it was their wives or girlfriends who dug their heels in. Bioware were brilliant at looking after families and would usually invite the spouse and child(ren) over as well to see the location at great expense but it didn't always work.

But then they opened the other office in Montreal, which is a better location for a lot of devs to go and work (plus the local government has been offering ridiculous incentives for companies to relocate there).

The Austin office houses the SW:TOR team and is a little different. The problem with the US is that it's insanely hard to get a green card if you're from overseas. There are enough good US-based programmers and artists, of course, but international talent will find it much easier to get to Canada.

Bloody glad I'm out of recruitment, anyway. I was far too honest for that business.

Anyway, nice arts, ladies.

OMG guys, I had the best dream ever. I was my canon Hawke and I was traipsing about in a very Lord of the Rings style adventure. Instead of Gandalf, Flemeth was leading this merry band about. Anders was also there (of course). And the best part, so were a bunch of you guys. Except, since I don't actually know what anyone looks like, everyone became their avatars. Surely was Wil, Elle was an elf mage girl, and- totally best of all- hi-C was a boat that was always floating along in the background.

Gah, it was so epic. Then my husband woke me up and I was sad.

Lol

Not that long ago I had a dream that Anders had love children running around. It was a strange thing to wake up to. Especially since it took time to remember the dream and why I was feeling disgruntled.
Then I felt pathetic for having a dream like that.

i feel the need to say hi to all you guys again.
i've been super busy the last few days and only had time to read a few pages
whilst eating brekkie and before going to bed. it'll be good to post stuff and
not simply stalk (though creeping is good when anders related, right?!) :bandit:

i'm also making a resolution to start reading more
fics... other than pouncing on HC's new chapters which TOTALLY ROCK btw

I also need to read more fics. Those that I have read by people in this thread have been amazing. You'd think that would be enough to convince me to read more.

That, or I need to write more. Elle pointed out that I claim to be a writer on my devArt site, yet have never actually shared any writing. Sadly stupid Anders refuses to remain in a short story and wants to force himself into a novel. I feel guilty enough every time I get a review or someone watching my other long fanfics to ever do that again.

Reading fics before bed is a good idea. I usually am reading this thread just before I go to sleep. That results in dreaming about writing replies to thread topics. Or, dreams like I had last night of adventuring around with my fellow Anderstians. Oh, and the one of the OldSpice!Anders gif, except it was a real commercial and Howden was narrating it.

I know it's a couple of pages back now but I had some thoughts regarding the whole sexuality issue. I'm wondering if part of the problem people have with it is that people want Anders to be totally and completely into their Hawke. Knowing that he's also potentially attracted to another sex makes them feel like their Hawke can't possibly be everything he desires in a companion/sex partner. Maybe it's part of the stereotype of the bisexual having to have sex with everyone all the time and can't be satisfied with one person? It's kind of silly because sexual preference is a separate thing from level of promiscuity. Someone who is pansexual can still be completely in love and totally sexually attracted to and focused on one person.

I guess what I'm trying to say is maybe some people have a hang up with having to define his sexuality because if he could potentially like someone of a difference sex then that might take something away from his relationship with their Hawke.

I'll admit that it's a silly hangup to have but one that's subtle and tough to overcome for a lot of people - myself included. I dated a man for a while that was bisexual. I was a little taken aback by his admission that he had also been with men. Ultimately I did realize that it really had no bearing on what was between the two of us - just as what he had done with other women in his past didn't didn't either. Well, other than contribute to his past in a way that shaped him into the person I was attracted to - as all life experiences do for good or ill (channeling a little Isabella there lol)

Had to log on quickly because I've just seen the Old Spice ad on the telly - and choked on my booze!

And Yami, get a drabble at least out there! I challenge you to write... 300 words, no more no less. Do it.

I love it when stories can be interpreted so many different ways. I think Tolkein actually had a word for writing a story with the intent that anyone reading it could make of it what they willed (for example, Tolkein never actually states that elves have pointed ears). I consider it a similar case here, that different players can interpret Anders' sexuality any way they really want. It's not like it's gospel. It's part of a story, and the information available about the situation changes depending on who your character is, so you can choose to read it any way you want.

Regardless, I had the amusing thought that while Anders is free and open about who he's really attracted to, not letting silly things like looks and gender get in the way of his fun, he portrays himself as a rabid skirt-chaser so often because it annoys the templars. I think it's in a conversation with Wynne in DA:O where we figure out that same-sex pairings among mages are encouraged. After all, mages are more of a threat when they're breeding, right? With Anders going on in front of vow-of-chastity male templars about how awesome women are . . . well, let's just say I can totally see him rubbing their noses in "living the dream."

Once DA2 starts, though, I think it's safe to say his sexual orientation doesn't really matter anymore because there's only one person he's interested in (read: Hawke).

Not particularly my best articulation ever, but that's my 2cp.

@Elle: Lucky Number Slevin is one of my favorite movies. I geek out like Lucy Liu everytime I see it. I'll officially spend the rest of lit class thinking up quotes
