I don't know if the Anders' playlist is still open to new songs or not. If so (or if anyone's interested), I've been listenint to The Zolas recently. "You're Too Cool" definitely has a few overtones that remind me of Anders:

I can tell we'll never be safe
'Til the walls fall down
Every morning chipping away
'Til the walls fall down

On the road I dream of home and at home I dream of action
Our apartments are all haunted by the ghosts of satisfaction

There are more lyrics, but those are the ones that stick out as being Anders-ish to me. Plus, it's an epic song.

Edit for top:

ETA: One thing to consider is that prompts can ruin the flow of discussion, especially for those who don't read or participate. Since I have a feeling the thread will pick up once the next patch comes out and once we get some DLC, we might want to take that into consideration. I would suggest a group, but formatting is balls enough on the forum. Does anyone else have any thoughts or suggestions?

Well, if we don't want a group on the BSN, there's always livejournal. Or...okay, I'm out of ideas and I live under a rock. Somebody who's not an ignorant buffoon in matters of where the cool kids go to join groups might want to jump in here. *shakes her stick and tells those whippersnappers to get off of her lawn*

I make no claims on being a 'cool kid', but there's always DeviantArt (plus there's already an Anders-centric group there), and Facebook, if people don't mind using real names/making a new account. LiveJournal is probably the best mix of usability + forum like discussion. Plus, the prompt tables I've found (if people would like to use them), come from there. I didn't realise but there are actually 5 different ones! I would also say tumblr, but that place just confuses the hell out of me!

There's a few different ways I've seen prompts done, word constraints, time constraints etc. Some are more free and loose though. The one I've seen most often is the 'weekly prompt', where a random prompt, or prompts, are chosen say on a monday, and people have until the end of the week to create a fill and post it to the group. Not sure if making it competitive would be a good idea though, just purely as it might put newbies off, and then it might stagnate. Just my two penneth though. /Teacher mode.

In other news: that Anders fellow, he's a pretty awesome guy isn't he?

Edit: Apparently the internet hates me today, bear with me, fixing! Done!

Alright... well, I can at least fill a weekly thingie once, should be doable :) I'm not a big fan of social networking though, but we'll see where this goes. As long as there's no sushi.

I think... in January or way back before Anders was announced in DA2 (so, before my life was complete) a lovely Live Journal lady started it. It's closed for writers now but open for artists still. It's like a long-term fic project, where everyone pledges to write something (in this case, something bioware related, either Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Baldur's Gate or whatever else they do.. they do other games, right? Like I care!) for that fandom, then they get paired up with an artist who will illustrate it for them.

Has to be 10,000 words long at least.

Here's a link to the site: Bioware Big Bang

I'm late to the party, as always, but does anyone know if they have thought about doing this again?  I would adore something like this!  I suppose it's too soon to say as they haven't even started posting the results for the first round yet.  :?

Edit: never mind.  I saw the post about the DA Big Bang that's still signing up writers.

I am both against taking the prompt goodness to a different social site (read: I'm an old fuddyduddy, too) and against competition and short time limits. Worst case I just won't participate, though.

Ditto Hi-C on whether or not the playlist is still being added to. But anyway, I have two suggestions:

This lovely picture

Made me think of this beautiful video, which was linked to me by a fellow Fander! Thought of You
I thought the song kinda fit, as well as the video being very appropriate.

And also this song: Pause - Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo (which is also the theme to The Shadow Line for any UKers!)

Who am I now without your love?
Who am I alone in a day that has gone?

Without your love to return upon,
I'm a featherless bird in a sky so absurd

Why oh why's there so much movement
When all I long for is to lay down in love's pause

And dream I know something of truth
Oh hide me deeper in your peace further
And lose me in this greed I've found in your need

Maybe we could post it here and discuss/comment in a group? That way more than just participants will see it and it keeps the thread from being dominated by prompt discussions.

And the time limit is not mandatory. It's just a guideline to keep those of us who have a tendency towards overdoing these sorts of things *shifts eyes guiltily*. Especially since it probably won't be competitive, we don't really need it.

A word limit is helpful, though, if we're posting them here.

I really think keeping the stories/ discussions out of here would be for the best, other threads that do have them seem to just turn cliquey very quickly. I think the prompt posting here with a link to the LJ/Group/DevArt whatever people want to post the stuff would work. Then if people are participating/are interested they can go, if not, the silliness/earnest discussions can carry on uniterrupted.
And ditto about the competition element, just keep it a free and easy all comers type thing.
As for guidelines - time or word count is fine by me. I wouldn't go for anything over 1.5k personally if we do it weekly.

@HC - The Zola's are funny, they remind me a bit of The Darkness. ^_^

I definitely agree that posting the fics here would be too disruptive to the thread and that competition woudl not fit well with the kissing everybody aspect of this thread.  Profiles here come with blogs, though, right?  Might it be best if everyone just posted their responses to their own blogs and let whoever does the organizing where to find it?  A group might be difficult to navigate if people are starting a new thread for each response and commenting in groups here leaves quite a bit to be deisre in terms of figuring out to what a person is responding.

In case that was unclear, I'd definitely be interested in participating.  ^_^

I think a group might be nice. Or, you know, anything that doesn't require me to start a new account somewhere (I'm looking at you livejournal). If nothing else, we can post the actual stories wherever (deviantArt, ff.net, blog posts on BSN, etc) and then discuss them in the group after posting links.

I don't know. I'm pretty clueless about these things. I just know I wouldn't mind giving it a go. Oh, and um, Anders. Yeah. He's an awesome guy. I bet he would approve of prompts.

I like this idea! I can get it started.

So, Yami, could I possibly use your keen manifesto-writing Anders as the group image?

I'm currently fighting a battle FOR GREAT JUSTICE! A friend of mine is asking around for good names for the orange tabby she just adopted. I just need to find a good way to convince her that Ser Pounce-a-Lot is the best name ever. I'm finding it difficult since she doesn't play DA.

Oh yeah, go for it. It seems a rather appropriate image.

It's regal and it makes him sound prince like.  Also what cat doesn't like to pounce, even my Mao(who is a big lady) does it. And seriously a prince like cat, completely awesome.

Oh and the most important reason, the name is so damn cute!

Yami, convince her on Pounce because it's cute and awesome, and then you can just call the cat by the full name and it'll stick eventually. ;)

Yes yes, the sneaky approach! Anders would definitely approve, especially as it's for great justice!

it seemed like good evidence that any cat named Ser Pounce-a-Lot would end up as the awesomest kitty ever.

So...Group!

Any more thoughts can go over there. In the absence of feedback, I'll just throw a prompt up on Tuesday morning and we can get started.
