I think the "creepiness" of large age gaps is subjective.  I personally like older men.  Old enough to be my father?  No.  But I don't think Anders is THAT much older than Hawke.  Maybe five or six years?  That's not that huge a difference, personally.

Yeah, I'd say he's 6 or 7 years older.  Maybe around 29 or 30, while to me Hawke is 23.

It makes his "Don't threaten me, little girl[/i]" comment much more interesting, IMO.  But I found that strangely titillating anyway.

You have to be a complete jerk to him when you first meet.  I think Hawke says something like "Hand over the maps or else!"  It's pretty uncalled for.  Hilarious, but uncalled for.  XD

Anders is one of three characters that more or less consumed me. I haven't romanced him yet, but I have watched his scenes on Youtube The rival version is something I really like. So, I'm wondering what sort of character you use for rivalmancing and how you justify the Hawke/Anders relationship. I'm still trying to justify the rivalmance I planned out between Anders and a FemHawke who's a templar (a templar that wants to change the system, but still). I normally pair characters with others who agree with at least almost everything they say - the "opposites attract" thing doesn't work for characters like mine who would hate their opposites, so I focus on the things they have in common.

Anders and this FemHawke both believe the current system needs to be changed (so much that she'll end up siding with the mages in the end), they both want to help people, and they're both the type to punish anyone who commits evil acts with death. They have a strong sense of justice. That's a lot to have in common, but the fact that they disagree about how the system should change is probably enough to get her a full rivalry... at least, I hope it is. They're relationship won't work out in the end though. She won't kill him for destroying the Chantry, but she just can't forgive him for it. Unlike Kaya, who wanted to help him blow it up.

I'm not sure if that helps you at all. Our rivalmance Hawkes are very different. xD Yours sounds more like my Fenris rivalmance FemHawke.

That's a nice screenshot.
I love it when the mages all sync up their spells, it looks really badass and things die nice and quickly.
Particularly if it's Mage!Hawke and Anders.

So...my husband is playing Awakening for the first time. Getting ready for DA2. It's a little heartbreaking to watch Awakening!Anders and Justice.

They just had the banter where Justice tells Anders that it is not just to keep a pet. I wonder if that is why Anders never gets a new cat.

I can't figure out what Justice's opinion on this might be.

Maybe the Templar spec won't help either but I think it's about time someone teach Justice some naughty sexy time play. The "unwilling participant on the threesome" doesn't sit right with me.

I know Anders gets his vengeance on when he's doing his staff-thumping denunciation prior to the explosion, but does our glowy blue friend come out to play at any point after the Chantry has been destroyed? I haven't explored all the possible dialogue options or the Rivalry, Rivalry-romance or pro-Templar aspects, so I'm relying on your most intimate knowledge of the dear boy's mood swings.

I romanced Anders because I'm a human apostate, he's a human apostate ... we seemed made for each other. I was disappointed. We had sex a total of TWICE and he so rarely says romantic things to me. I read all these Fenris fan blogs and I'm jealous. Fenris whispers sweet nothings in your ear, and Anders leaves copies of his manifesto everywhere? Then goes all V for Vendetta on the CHANTRY?! I LIKED the Grand Cleric! I started complaining to my real-life fiance about my Dragon Age boyfriend and what a jerk he is.

Basically, I regretted romancing him. He was better in Origins. Anders sans a sense of humor is a sad mage indeed.

@PerpetualCheck Anders is a tragedy. My Hawkes are having a hard time just trying to get Justice to let Anders into sexy times.

Fenris does give much more flirty content. When you click on him he says, "I'm yours" with a sexy husky voice.

*sigh* Anders is too busy hiding his manifesto in the mansion. If it makes you feel any better, Act2/Act3 codex says he's a devoted lover to Hawke when they're together.

I was kinda sad too about losing Elthina....until I played again and paid extra special attention to just everything she says. She's really no better than Meredith, or the Qunari, or ANYONE with her blind ignorance. I'm no fan of terrorism but she was so freaking oblivious to what was happening I'm not sorry she's gone.[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/uncertain.png[/smilie]

I really think Anders was onto something.
