Hawke: Seriously? A bomb? So you'd win at Jenga?
Anders: I removed the chance of you winning, because you win too much at Scrabble already.
Hawke: You're so lucky you're cute.
Hawke: Now it smells in here. What was in that bomb?
Anders: >.>
Anders: On a completely unrelated topic, I need to go down to the sewers. Care to join me?

Hahahaha. Also... eww.

EDIT to add Anders cheating strategy for TOP:

This. Oh, this.

I have made up a Thedas version of Scrabble called Wordsmith. My Hawke is terrible at cards, so she and Anders (and sometimes Merrill) play it when they're both at the Hanged Man. It keeps Anders from losing money he doesn't have, it keeps her from losing clothes that she shouldn't be losing and it makes Fenris jealous (because he's illiterate and got pissy with Hawke when she offered to teach him to read).

And yes, I have actually thought about this before today. #obsessed

I can completely imagine Fenris trying to join in anyway, just to try to show up Anders and Merrill. Then he puts down "askjgd" or something as a word. Then he magically fists the board when he is informed that it isn't a word.

Pretty much, yes. Actually, he just "accidentally" bumps the board when he gets up to get more wine.

Then Anders tells him to put it back the way it should be, but oh, he can't. Because he's illiterate.

And then they glare at each other for the rest of the night.

Now it HAS to go in my story, although I like Yami's version better. I love the idea of Merrill trying her hardest to sound out "askjgd."

Merrill: Ask juh good? As kaj god? I don't understand, Fenris. Is this Tevinter? It must be hard to speak if it is.

Harking back to the debate you were having at 1.30am GMT *shakes fist* (That and the fact my brain is swollen with circle/chantry codicies after researching the manifesto).

Whilst Anders was ostensibly acting alone with the whole Jenga thing, his point of view and beliefs that the circle be free of Chantry involvement was definitely not crazy or without its supporters. His stance as a Libertarian aligns him firmly with the largest opposition fraternity to the the Aequitarian & Loyalist coalition. That those two fraternities had to even form a coalition suggests that the Libertarian's have enough support to make the College of Magi/ Chantry nervous. Which again was echo'd by Lelianna's comments about the Resolutionists (an zealot off-shoot of the LIbertarians) and their being 'tolerated'. However, as we see through the game Anders eventually aligns himself with more strongly with the Resolutionist agenda;
"They have declared that unless mages are freed to rule themselves, they will show every person in Thedas how little protection the Circle of Magi actually offers."
Remember that Anders was at the Ferelden Circle at the same time as Uldred - who was an outspoken supporter of the Libertarian view, and if he didn't witness the carnage at the circle he certainly heard about the lengths that the mages would go to to free themselves from the Chantry.
I think that rather than have every mage turn to blood magic out of desperation, he (with the guidance of Justice) understands the need to force the issue and make the College of Magi realise its power is conditional on the
whims of the Chantry, and that it needs to wrest control for itself.
That Anders actions finally cause the Aequtarian fraternity to switch alligance is a fantastically planned and orchestrated move, by a desperate man.

/end rant.

Yeah, so I love him even more after researching all that stuff. Anders bleeds awesome.  Posted Image

Wow you did so much research on this - how epic! ^_^

What makes me tingle with love for Anders is also how scholarly and educated he is, I assume he has taught himself arcanum and is constantly occupied with his research and studies. I like to think the bomb he made was either an actual tevinter thing that he researched and built himself or he actually figured out the qunari formula or developed Sandal's boom. Either way it proves how smart he is - so he's got the eyes and the smile AND the brain. Ouch hot!

Anyways, you'd make him proud with all the work you've done, Elle! <3

What can I say, my love for him is both epic and scholarly! Posted Image

We always knew that targetting the Chantry was a deliberate choice designed to provoke Meredith into action, but reading all the codicies just made it clearer how this would then impact the rest of Thedas. He wasn't seeking to force individual mages to fight individual battles, he was looking to get the College of Magi - specifically the Aequitarian fraternity - to change alligances, well aware this would result in warfare.
As a case of tipping one, much more powerful, point of view (rather than the views of many individuals) his actions suddenly seem a lot clearer and a lot more likely to succeed.
He wasn't crazy in the slightest, he just had something world changingly important to do. Posted Image

And yes... I hope he'd be proud - I'm that much of a fangirl. Posted Image

This is SO very true. Also, I am very glad I am not the only Anders fangirl sitting around researching Thedas politics and planning for the revolution... *types*

I completely and totally hear that in Merrill's voice. Sometimes I wonder how much she is messing with people. I like to think that sometime in the middle of those seven years, she started figuring things out... but just thought it was more fun to keep being Merrill.

I do wish she weren't a blood mage, mostly because my prototype for a mage egalitarian society is the Dalish... since it's basically the one civilization where mages never cause any trouble ever. Except for poor Merrill. Stop messing up the premise of my manifesto, girlie!

Hopeful speculations...

Factoids:

Unconfirmed report that Staton and Lennon have recorded Bethany and Carver for an upcoming DLC

Mike Laidlaw interview talking about player feedback

Images of new areas for an upcoming story DLC. The title mentions "Griffons" and it quite possibly involves the Wardens.

Elsewhere in this thread, somebody posted Adam Howden's tweet "Redleatheryellowleatherredleatheryellowleather"

Speculation about what, precisely, the Wardens were doing in Kirkwall or why they were interested in the Deep Roads has been running rampant on the BSN since the game came out. References too numerous to link.

So, making a wild leap, perhaps this is related to some kind of story DLC ala Return to Ostagar where Bethany or Carver, potential Wardens, and Anders, a former Warden, have special content. Maybe, if we're really lucky, it might feature other well-loved Wardens such as Nathaniel or Alistair. Maybe even Sigrun!

If Bioware makes DLC with Sigrun, Nathaniel, Anders and Carver I'll probably die from happiness. But such DLC is probably too much to hope for.

I would also die a billion times.

Especially if the DLC was about investigating the Warden's disappearance. It would be a good way to integrate them into the story without having to deal with reskins/voices/whatever.

I like to think that Anders still cares about his old Warden, and about Nate, even if he's lost faith in the organization as a whole after what they did to him.

And then Fenris finally puts down one word he knows how to spell.

Merrill: F-E-N-R-I-S Oh, that's nice. See Anders, Fenris can play with us.

Anders: You do realize that the rules of Wordsmith clearly states that you cannot use Proper Names as a words. You've been disqualified.:D:D:D

Fenris: Festis bei umo canavarum!

I realize you're making fun of Fenris, but adult illiteracy isn't really something to make a joke of. Can we knock it off, please? There's plenty of other things to joke on about him. Floppy hair.... overcompensating sword....

Just... leave the (il)literacy alone.

Yeah, making fun of his illiteracy isn't so great. I mean, he did choose to be illiterate after he was no longer a slave, but yeah, like Sialater said, let's make fun of him for other reasons.

All in good fun however, this is an Anders thread, not a lets-bash-Fenris thread.

No, he doesn't.  I teach him with my Hawkes.

Still nothing to make fun of.

lol well I yelled at him to get rivalry at that point, telling him that "slaves aren't taught how to read" wasn't an excuse anymore, that's what I meant.  He got all growly for a second then relented, as per usual.

Thick leather squares patched onto... looks like leather back, if you paint it, quilting (sewn quilt pattern) shading doesn't work, they are like really thick squares, the white edging, and the little dots could be grommets. Then the sleeves are extremely patched small pieces all sewn roughly together. ... *ramble* I'm painting his jacket yet again. That's why I'm quiet. I have to get this finished today so I can actually write, not draw, for the prompt.

*checklist what's left: 2 hands, belts, pouch, large ring, wrist guard, feathers*

Please, please ramble away!  I've no particular artistic talent, but I'm a crafter, and so hoping to eventually sew an Anders outfit.  Others' ideas about how it is put together is most welcome!
