I almost spit my tea out looking at this. Sigh I should be working on chapter 17, but nine hells I am stuck. Anders is griefing me and I don't know how to dance around an issue I found.

Okay here is mine, his name is Galen Hawke (should have come up with better name, too similar to Gamlen, eek). I have this tendency to try to age my Hawkes at the beginning of each act. For me F!Hawkes, usually longer hair but try to keep something the same like how bangs are styled. For my M!Hawke, he went from stubble, to edges only, to full beard. Not a fan of beards, but the gradual changes over time I felt like he needed the beard, I was more accepting, if that makes any sense. He's diplomatic/snarky.
edit: Anders reminded Galen a lot like his father. Who was also an apostate. Anders selfless care for the refugees, putting himself in danger of discovery, all these things attracted him. Galen felt an overwhelming need to protect Anders, using his status, with the help of Varric, I'm sure, from the Templars.
And to not leave Anders out.

Avoiding what I should be doing, I decided to switch the words around to the mermaid song in the new pirates movie to fit our loving apostate, I regret nothing!
Upon one
summer's morning, I carefully did stray,

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the stuck on beard look but it can look OK (although he looks most handsome in the first pic, I think). Looks as though your Galen is based on the same preset as my Malachi.

Yeah they do look very similar. I downloaded that mod that lets you alter the default, but without that beard, he was scary. Please no one post that pic, it gives nightmares.

Ok! I have a new guideline/suggestion:
If you're posting a picture without Anders in it, please at least explain why. What is your roleplay with said character? Why would they go for Anders/how did they deal with Anders, etc. Posting (and then quoting) lots of contextless screenshots of Handsome Hawkes is pretty much the sort of thing that gets threads that are this long locked.

You don't have to do it retroactively! It's not a big deal, just something to be mindful of. The original Alistair gush thread got shut down for spamming images with Alistair in them, but because there wasn't enough Alistair-centric discussion happening, and the thread was so long, it got locked.

So....I've been thinking a bit more about Anders' clothing, and it has occurred to me that he probably made or altered some of it himself.
Namely, the sleeves and leggings. Given their abundance of seams, I'd say they were patched together from leftover bits of the material used to make his cape (which I think is the same cape from Awakenings, just slightly modified- I'm thinking an apostate on the run probably wouldn't spend money to replace clothing unless absolutely necessary). Also, given that all the seams are highly visible, which would not have been considered artful in that society, I'd say those sleeves and leggings were made by someone who doesn't sew professionally. Finally, given that they fit skin-tight, they would have to have been made by someone who either had taken very good measurements, or had regular access to Anders' arms and legs. So, all in all, it's got me thinking he might have made those items himself.
Second: the black outfit. I am convinced it is indeed his first outfit, simply dyed black, which I think he would have probably done himself. I mean, maybe, since he was expecting to die and all, he would have allowed himself to blow the money to have that done by someone who knew what they were doing, but then again, I'm thinking that walking into any clothier's shop and saying "I want all my clothing dyed black" might be a bit suspicious for an apostate...

My headcanon Hawke is named Gaelen. Hardly any difference, though the meaning is probably different. 'Gael' apparently means 'stranger', which I liked, but on itself it sounded to feminine so I stuck on the -en. Of course, Gamlen thinks his nephew was supposed to be named after him but Malcolm screwed it up on purpose
