Camilladilla, should the cats in your Nyanders pic look like flying pot-tarts?

Edit: I can't believe that bit of stupidity got ToP. I keep trying to attach a pic, but it won't let me. Sorry!

Quick! What's the Sisyphus-esque quote Anders has about rolling a rock up a hill? And does anyone have a youtube link of it?

It's for a good cause. I need it to harass my husband. =P

RE: Nyan cat.

Do y'all know about "Know Your Meme?"  It's very helpful.  Nyan cat makes slightly more sense after you read this page, and the linked page, "Cat Bread."

http://knowyourmeme....at-pop-tart-cat

Now, here's another Nyanders (not mine) titled "Dancing On Rainbows."  Apologies if this already got posted, I can't remember how I found it.

Is it realistic to expect people to instantly recognize memes that have been in existence for ONE MONTH? Troll-face, OK, that's been around a while. Ditto "Forever Alone" and the rest. Your link shows that Nyan cat appeared on the scene on April 12th of this year.

Sorry for the rant. It's just frustration at constantly feeling left behind.

Er... yeah... Andersbutt. Better throw in necroboner and shameboner for good measure.Posted Image

One of these days when searching the internet, I'll learn not to click on random links that I know will enrage me.  <_<*grumble grumble* Righteous Andersrage *grumble*

@Yami: What link was it? (Clearly I've learned nothing from my own experiences wandering into threads where I'm clearly not welcome; it's like those old Westerns where the piano stops and everyone looks at you and...tangent, stopping now.)

And I couldn't find a youtube video of the boulder scene, but I think the quote's something like, "If we had a giant rock to push uphill this would perfectly summarize my life."

Actually, this is perfectly relevent. This is the only safe thread on the forum. Somebody is bound to disagree with you at one point or another, but no one will eviscerate you over it.

Solution: Stay here and talk about Anders!

Oh, as far as BSN goes, I only lurk in the Garrus thread and post here. However, I ventured outside the forums entirely. I was just searching google to see if I could find that quote. Somehow I ended up finding an article about how the Fenris romance is way better because the Andersmance isn't even really a romance. He's just using Hawke and all that. Nothing new and I didn't get all the way through it because I started mumbling to myself halfway through.

Conveniently I was working on a picture of Anders and Fenris glaring at each other, with Hawke in the middle. Artistic venting or something.

Yes! Thank you.

He Tweeted about Sysiphus while he was working so I had to tell him he was becoming Anders. :P

Aw, poor Yami! And I hate those kind of arguments. As though it's not possible for Anders to love Hawke at all just because he's more dedicated to his cause. *sigh* Some people just need to learn to appreciate angst. Delicious, delicious angst.

I have a read of some of the other threads/sections but most people aren't actually discussing anything, they're just shouting their views and stomping their feet if no one agrees with them. Kinda pointless. Posted Image

The ME2 boards were better for a while, but then there was a whingefest a while ago about LIs and stuff that chased me away. Funny thing is that the whingefest was about Anders a lot, and it made me replay Awakening, then buy DA2 and end up here (well, combined with a bunch of other factors, but it was a major influence).

The problem with Anders is that he hits some hotbuttons on topics where people simply do not allow themselves to acknowledge any nuance. The Andersthread and the Garrusthread are, for some strange reason, the beacons of reasonableness and acceptance on BSN. I actually used to like Kaidan and Fenris just as much as I liked Garrus and Anders, but the friendlier tone of the Garrus and Anders threads have made me warm to them even more.

"If we had a giant rock to push uphill, this would perfectly sum up my life."

Ooof. The delivery of that line is definitely one of the sexiest Andersthings in the entire game. It feels like something DA:A Anders could have said, but the hopeless angst is perfect for DA:2. It's funny that it could be a darker moment for Awakenings, but it's a lighter moment for 2. And so... they meet.

I do quite like that we can have thoughtful disagreements in this thread. Although I have to catch them at just the right time of day or I have no ability whatsoever to add my own arguments. Unless it's morning or evening, I tend to be useless. Other times of day, my brain seems to melt into something along the lines of, "No... but!... Andersbutt. Heh."

I must be crepuscular!

I love that about Anders, actually. Some people say his sense of humor is gone, but that's not true. Especially at the start of the game, he still manages to get off a few good one-liners ("A wizard did it," in that perfect deadpan is still one of my favorites). Then Life proceeds to take a big dump on him and he gets increasingly less able to see the humor through the injustice.

I think the best example of this is when he's trying to help Varric get some catharsis about Bartrand by joking about all the ways they could kill her. When Varric tries to start the same conversation with one of the same lines about Meredith in Act 3, Anders just can't handle it.

How're we coming on that give-Anders-a-hug mod, guys?

Yeah, sometimes I feel weird when I come back to discover that an interesting argument happened while I was away, but the discussion has progressed to andersbutt or nyanders or Lonely Island songs or what-have-you. It's always hard to gauge whether or not to bring up the old topic.

On that note, when people were discussing "I just had sex" yesterday, I immediately thought of this: Oh Anders, ur doin it wrong.

If you had walked away in slow motion, nobody would hate you. Instead you have to actually watch the explosion and acknowledge the possible casualties.

Heh, devArt is for Andersbutt... it's always there... waiting, just behind a tab.

My only complaint about the disagreements/juicy debates is that they all happen in the evening US time Posted Image

I'd say feel free to bring up old arguments. I think it was decided ages ago that this thread is a good reflection of Anders. We have a bunch of serious, thought provoking discussion and then break the tension with jokes. Cracky discussions are our coping mechanism.

A lot of them happen when I'm asleep. So, I think it must be Central or Western time in the US. Sometimes they come up just before I wake up and that works out nicely. Even though I am so not a morning person, for some reason I have had my best debates on this thread just after rolling out of bed.

Haha, If I'm up at like 5.30am I'll usually catch the tail end of something and will bash out some incoherent rant that needs editing after I've had a shower/coffee/walked dog.

Just coming back tot his for a second....

You know how hard I heart the Act 3 'Key to your Heart' flirt option (you know you do) - it's precisely because you see him all happy/ content/ smexy. Despite everything else that's going on (and I know it's just for a flash, but seriously I find that couple of seconds hotter than the kiss) he's happy with Hawke. And compared with the unrelenting bleakness of the rest of his Act 3 dialogue it just makes me melt.  Posted Image

I was dying for a bit after I first beat the game because I couldn't find any youtube videos of that scene. I'm completely with you. I <3 that bit. It's just the smallest flash of domestic happiness. It may not be much, but it does show that Hawke and Anders do have their "normal" couple moments. Not just all delicious angst.
