Because a toolset makes them NO MONEY.
Because it means people wont buy fancy DLC from them as much.

No sane business spends money or time on something that makes no money.

Yeah and a dev said this before, if we've moved on to new games, the likelihood of us buying their DLC decreases. Mods add TONS of replay value to the game, so I'd still be playing it when they release said DLC. Right now I'm just trying to keep myself occupied until 11-11-11 \\o/ Anders certainly is helping


The notes say that the player has just insulted his performance and he is trying to lighten the mood or something like that.

I always have to wonder when I hear people say that, just how official DLC is affected by the existence of a toolset. It's not like you make actual armor models and stuff in the toolset. Honestly, I don't think it'd affect official DLC sales as much even if you could. How much more popular are new campaign modules made by PC modders versus official DLC campaigns, especially when you have to take two consoles worth of sales into consideration?

I don't really see it being a factor as much as working on releasing the toolset not being as profitable as making DLC that all platforms can purchase, and the fact that there might be some licensing issues with software and such. Or maybe I just don't have a kneejerk "EA IS AS EVIL AS ELEVENTY BILLION DEVILS COMBINED" reaction, lol (even though they totally are moneygrubbing jerkwads, there are other explanations for the lack of toolset than modder competition since that seems so unlikely to me).

I don't hate EA. I am just stating that the reason I was into DAO so long was because of mods...I love DA2, but without some mods it won't have the same replay value for me. If I'm still playing I'll order new DLC immediately. If not...maybe someday. That's all.

Oh I don't think EA's evil. 

They're just greedy. Like most coporations. Which wouldn't be so bad if they were greedy and still delivering top notch service. Sadly that looks like its falling by the wayside more and more.  A toolset probably takes effort, testing and the likes to release. And it would be free.

Oh, that was really directed at Giggles' comment. I should have quoted, but I got lazy.

And yeah, I do think EA's products do end up suffering because of their business tactics, but I think the lack of toolset isn't necessarily just a product of modders 'taking away' sales from them. Because what, they think make better stuff and therefore no one will buy DLC, even the thousands of console players? Doubt it.

Would a toolset be nice? Hell yes. But I feel there's a bit of entitlement when it comes to that, as wonderful as it'd be to have it.
