I don't want to get into any of this but I will say.  He shouldn't but did, yes he is unstable and even people who are aware of their state are known to act out despite what they may think of it.  Their minds will justify it or tell them there is nothing else left.  I get you think it is because of this he shouldn't have but he did, no changing it now, it has already happened.

Yea, I know and I do not recall arguing that Anders didn't do it.

I think some here are.

Not saying they are wrong. Just expressing my opinion that I reject giving him any credit.

we give him credit for starting the war. not for winning it. (or losing but that won't happen lalalala)

For me, starting a war is not intrinsically valuable to give credit to Anders for that. Furthermore, that's the easiest part.

Considering there's already part 3 planned, I'm pretty sure we can't judge his ultimate actions yet in any event.

I'm really hoping we're not forced on a side to begin with. And can choose which side to push towards victory (even if a Eldtrich abomination/archedemon turns up at the last minute to completely screw it over).

Agreed. Someone brought up the possibility of playing as a Chantry Seeker, and I immediately balked. First, I don't want to support the Chantry. Second, how will I be a mage? Plus, if I can't be Hawke in the next game, I at least want to dedicate myself to his and Anders' cause, and run around Thedas bestowing kittens on people who are down on their luck.

BLAM! "You just got kitten-ed!" It'd be the fluffiest, fuzziest revolution ever.

And okay, because kromify told me to, I guess I better get Chapter 11 up soon. :innocent:

Agreed. I really, really don't want to support the Chantry, especially not by default. I'm opposed to it on far more levels than just the mage question, but I can't imagine we will be railroaded in such a manner.

Er. I hope we won't, at least. That would be bad.

And I approve of fluffy kitten revolutions and more chapters :D

That time could be a little faster. T_T Every second is torture. Checking back on FFN everyday praying and hoping the fic's been updated. But nooooooo. No update. :crying: And it's always right at the "OMG WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN NEXT!?!" point. All of you are pure evil! EVIL I SAY! :crying:

everyone here on the anders thread acknowledges that he is not the best strategiser. the point is that no one else was prepared to strategise.

As such, no one should have done anything imo. The world is not going to end. Mages are not under an imminent threat of extinction.

The problem is, Anders is fully accepting of the idea that mages being eradicated is better than the life they are leading now, so I do not think he thought of victory or change that much. A premise I reject.

meredith had already sent for the rite of annulment. they are under a pretty damn big threat. even if it was rejected (which i don't think it would have been considering divine justinia was considering an exalted march) they are still being tranqiled left right and centre for minor infractions. illegally.

and i don't believe anders does fully accept the idea of mages being eradicated being better... he wants open warfare because it gives a mere chance of hope. but this is kinda subjective depending on how we interpret his words...

Those are the mages in Kirkwall only.
And Anders wants the RoA to happen, he is not trying to prevent it.

And considering how pathetic mages were in the battle, I don't think they have that much hope.

Yes. I would totally start stalking you if that was the case Sia. :innocent:

And don't tell me you have HP/LOTR fics or I *will* start stalking you.

Uh, no ma'am.  My insanity only extends to Bioware.

And the only reason I haven't started DA2 is because Zevran's drowning out Anders.  Probably to get back for the whole ****blocking thing.  :D

I don't agree with this premise. Anders is risking either total annihilation or even worse oppression.

Sad for me...lucky for you.

Now you should know better than to ****block Zevran Sia! The man has a healthy appetite.

But has it improved a little? Your handle on Anders? I'm trying to replay the rivalry path to get a handle on rival Anders but the stupid Sunder bug has killed my drive. :(

They're already oppressed. So that's not a risk, it's a certainty. As for total annihilation, kromify just told you Meredith sent for the Right of Annulment. So...yeah. Not a risk either.

*promises she'll get back to work soon, but this thread is like crack*

Also, is it wrong that when we talk about oppression, I just flash back to Holy Grail?

Can't you say the mages sucked in battle, because of gameplay? I mean if they did good and Orsino saw the Champion cleaning the floor with Templars and didn't turn to blood magic, the end game would have gone a little differently. Even siding with the Templars, mages do bad in combat because of game play and they are meant to be fodder before a boss, also you have plot armor and weapons...

So judging how well they would do based off the game seems kind of umm hollow. (?)

For me, no. There are many more Circles involved. Anders is risking all of them.

So why do they think they can win a war against those very Templars?

Hence *worse* oppression.
And total annihilation to all mages everywhere.

Anders wanted the RoA to happen in a very specific circumstance that he could manipulate to his political advantage.

I'm getting my Single Shepard through ME1 & 2 before I go back.  The Fenris-mance bug I hit has killed Anna's game for the time being.  And since I was planning on replaying her anyway, I want to save the galaxy a time or two first.

I didn't ****block Zevran!  Anders did, in the game!  But I do think I'm slowly getting his voice.  So I will have to figure out the Rivalmance sooner than later so I can get the full "gem" that is Anders.  Margaret wants to yell at him.

I'm talking about the FMVs which *aren't* a part of gameplay. They are curbstomped in FMVs. They ignore the funnel...in FMVs. (which is why I find the suggestion that the mages might've won if Hawke wasn't there laughable. They won because Hawke carries plot shield wherever he goes and Hawke's crew is a walking 8 (or less) man army.).

What makes Anders so sure it will be succesful?
Mages were utterly pathetic at the end.

And if some mages manage to make it succesful, I'll give the credit to them.
