Ser Kerras. After you complete 'Wayward Son', Thrask asks you to recover some Starkhaven mages that escaped because Kerras will likely want them dead...which he does. He's very anti-mage.

I started a romance with Anders in my first playthrough. I was seriously ticked off when he blew up the Chantry, I have to say. And I can't believe a noble Hawke would take him back, but I did just to see how it would play out. I was very dismayed that she didn't have the opportunity to send him to jail after the events at the Gallows. My Hawke was very much in tune with Anders until he became a TERRORIST. I wish I could reload and have her execute him, but I do NOT want to do that boss fight again. :/

Little do people know the small domino that was pulled out thus letting a chain of events morphing into what they did was having Anders give up his beloved cat. Sure Varric is talking about the champion all the time but he could have saved everyone time if he just told Cassandra that it was all to do with cat removal.

So, it was mentioned a little bit ago, how Anders gets all excited after he plants the bomb. I remember seeing this in a rival video, but I honestly can't remember it in my playthrough where he was a friend. I don't have a save handy, so I can't check myself. However, all I remember is Anders seeming really sad anytime I talked to him after that quest. Has anyone played more recently with a friendship path Anders who might know? Now I'm just curious.

 That part was really creepy. He seemed so fanatical there and when I picked the sarcastic option and he told me that even Justice approved of what I did...that was when I knew that I had really screwed up somehow.

Yeah, that's who I thought.  But I've been told he shouldn't be spouting that that early.  I think the people that told me that are wrong, but if so... Meredith sent the request for the Rite to Elthina quite some time ago.

I have to say, I love how amazed Anders is when he finds out that Meredith and the Divine weren't that far gone. Yet.

If you decide to take the "The Circle is needed option" after you ask if he wants to make Karl an apostate he says "How can you say that? You are a mage, I can feel the power in you" or something like that. So I think he already knows Hawke is a mage and it's not something that needs to be stated loudly.

Oh, thank you. It's just I could've sworn that you could have Bethany show him that she's a mage (I could be wrong, the memory is fuzzy) so I was wondering where that option was if you played as mage Hawke.

I may be wrong, but I think he was one of the people in Act 1 to whom Margaret did the glowy hand thingie.  I think it's a charm option, though.  (Use the smartass/humorous icons enough.)

It is Act 3, but it's early in Act 3.  Everyone keeps telling me it's not possible.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuu- now I'm tempted to make an Arcade Hawke (spirit healer, natch) and romance Anders. Too bad the voice would be so wrong. Also, no glasses.

It is Act 3, but it's early in Act 3.  Everyone keeps telling me it's not possible.

But if someone else got it too.... they're wrong. 

I think that by the time Act 3 has started, with the mages rebelling and Orsino committing what Meredith views as treason in the street, Meredith has called for the Rite. Since she sent to  Val Royeaux for it, it doesn't arrive in time before Anders to blow up the Chantry. I do wonder why she sent to Orlais since Greagoir just sent to Denerim but I guess if Elthina wouldn't agree (and I can't see her agreeing) then Meredith would need to ask the Divine. Once Elthina died, she was through waiting. Meredith already planning to annul the Circle certainly explains why she is so quick to kill everyone for what Anders did and eager to do it.

For my Hawke, the turning point was an Act 1 conversation that you get with Anders if you don't pick the early flirt options.  He basically asks if Hawke would like to be imprisoned in the Circle, if every mage didn't deserve the freedom she's had.  That got her thinking.  And by the end of Act 2, she was totally in his camp.

That's cool, I've never seen that line before. Kaya flirted with him the second chance she got. (The first was just awkward, telling him that he has a hot body right after they kill his friend. o_o I had to reload and comfort the poor guy.)

I also wonder how much of the Anders we know in DA2 is actually Justice. Because DA2 Anders exhibits a lot of restraint: something that Justice would practice not the Anders of Awakening. Also he mentions that Justice does not let him get drunk anymore. It makes me wonder, despite Anders telling you of Justice's disapproval on the romance with Hawke, does Justice also love Hawke? Showing it in a different way: telling Anders to stay away. This also forces the question: does Hawke love Anders, Justice or the composite?

I hope Justice does love Hawke, in his own way. I think he at least cares for a Hawke on the friendship path.

Kaya Hawke loves both of them. If they were separated, I don't think a romantic relationship would have worked out. She's in love with the combined personality of them. Awakening Anders would have been a good friend of hers, they'd run from the templars and joke around together, but he wasn't serious enough for her to fall in love with back then. She would have admired Awakening Justice and the way he wanted to help the mages even before he fused with Anders, but a romantic relationship would have been impossible. He was sort of... decaying. And even if he wasn't, it was still the body of another woman's husband. She would be more likely to fall in love with the personality he had, but tell herself it was impossible. The combination is perfect.

My catch-up post is longer than I thought it would be...

In mine, I helped Anders gather the elements for his "potion", but then when he started getting vague I asked him if there even was a potion, to which he admitted no and refused to tell me his real plan. So I told him I wouldn't help him because he was losing control, which interestingly didn't earn me any Rivalry points and we were still friends, unlike what happened with Isabella. (Which is good, since the High Dragon would have been impossible without him). That was the final straw, and after all the murders and blood mages and reanimations I had no choice but to help the templars, and execute Anders (with the assent of all of my party members but Merril). What followed at the Circle pretty much verified that as a correct course of action.

I'm curious how the dialogue options after the chantry blew up would have been different if I'd agreed to help him. My Hawke was horrified enough as it was. I just couldn't justify helping the mages, after every single one of them outside my party (or within it) was an abomination, a terrorist, a murderer, or just psychotic in general.

I think I'm going to have to go back to the nearest save I had or something. I really don't remember this talk in my friendship romance, but it has been over a week since I finished. Sadly, I cannot find any videos on youtube- either because no one has posted or they don't exist except for rivalry.

*sigh* My newest Hawke is still in relatively blissful Act 1. I don't want to load up Act 3 again. >_>
