I understand where you're coming from, but this isn't the case in this romance.  Hawke is who you make her out to be.

Really. You can play a nice (diplomatic) female Hawke who kicks ass and takes names but is very sweet and kind. Or you could play a nice Hawke that snarks half the time or a raging **** who had issues. All of them were strong in their own ways unless you wanted to RP them as weak. (like I do some of my male Hawkes).

And where Hawke could be seen as weak was there for both genders. (from what I've seen). So she's not really any weaker or stronger than her male counterpart.

And Anders knows better than to think a female could be weaker than a male. He watched my Cousland save his ass using her 2HD more than once. If he brought up some dumb **** like that she'd beat the **** out of him. With glee. Probably while humming.

If anything his constant warnings to females could be because of the stubborn women he knows.

Also, in our society there is a great taboo against having a strong, independent personality as a woman. Being a woman, and being told that I'm intimidating because of that, and having it affect me as far as finding a decent relationship goes, that's horribly frustrating. .

For what it's worth, I think strong women independent personality are very attractive. I doubt I personally can stand anything else. I mean I was on the verge of tyring but gave up 5 minutes later several times.

And this is not an empty compliment or anything.

In a lot of writing (not BioWare's), a strong woman comes across as being overbearing or just a b*tch (or a strong woman ends up weak when relating to a man she's in love with), so since I resent that, and I can't stand weak women, I just can't usually feel any attachment with heterosexual relationships in most fiction. So, since I'm not attracted to girls, I usually like reading m/m stories more.

Well if Bioware is not guilty of that..what's the problem with f/m?

:P

I am jesting, not trying to debate or anything.

I prefer the snarky Hawke who makes jokes at inappropriate times.

And Anders can't possibly have any sort of illusions about women after my tiny elf mage beat the crap out of ogers in armor that weighed more than she did.

As I'm almost positive that I don't think I've ever brought up princess Cousland here (and my opinion on that end is definitely that vocal Princess Cousland fans have a tendency to hate on other Ali/Warden pairings and to be entitled when it comes to content that would only apply to them...plus the fact that it's overrated for something that is consistently heralded as The Best). I may have, though. I post a lot.

Huh. I have never noticed any of this. Has this been happening in the Alistair fan threads?

I don't really remember it being that way, and I tend to remember stuff like that very well. I can almost swear it was the opposite and people made fun of the princess couscous ending.

Oh good. Troll Hawke! How could I forget about troll Hawke!

He really couldn't. He had my Cousland too. Anders knows way too many strong female characters to think they're weak (he may on the other hand find them stubborn which explains why femHawke gets multiple warnings.)

That's also one conversation, and I don't see that as total inequality. The fact that he also says that it would kill him to hurt Hawke, if anything, shows me that he's projecting his own feelings onto her. It's not just an "I'm too much man for you to handle" it's a "this will be pain all around."

An eyebrow was raised when my tiny scrap of an elven mage grabbed the huge two-hander and rushed to cleave the Archdemon's throat in two. I mean, awesome, but it was an odd thing to watch

Being a little late into the DA:O game I saw more people hating on Princess Cousland rather the other way around. That said, any time I tell people that I played femCousland and made her princess consort at the end, I usually get criticism despite what reasonings I had for choosing that ending.

I don't know what it is. All of the origins had their mary sue tendencies. But whatever, haters gonna hate I guess. I'm not hating on any of the origins because they were all valid.

ANYWAY, Anders. ♥ I forgot all about Princess CousCous because of you.  Alistair, too.

My opinion of femHawke/Anders vs maleHawke/Anders?  I preferred m/m because of the dialogue, but hey, Anders likes girls too, so I'm not about to begrudge anyone for playing femHawke.  It's my own personal preference.  If I seem rather enthusiastic about talking my maleHawke getting it on with Anders and etc., it's because I am vocalizing my preference.  If you don't agree with my preference, that's fine.

A rare man indeed! lol. Guys say that a lot but when it comes down to it they can't stand up to me. And since it's established that you scare me, I don't think there'd be any risk of any opinion of mine overpowering yours. ;)

I really like Bioware's handling of their girl characters. That's why most of my characters are women. It's very refreshing to be able to play a girl who is strong and not a b-word. Though, you can MAKE her one, but that is purely by personal choice. XD And I know you don't like Hawke, but it's nice to be able to boss people around and have them follow you unquestionably. Even if they disagree with you at the end, if you've bullied them enough they'll still do what you tell them. ;)

I guess my point is that you wouldn't run away crying because your manpride was hurt. :o My ex did that. He and I are good buddies now but when it came to arguments where I had a stronger opinion than he did, he just couldn't handle it. He felt bullied. Things ended badly. It took years to get over it and be able to say, hey, we're still compatible personalities, we can be friends~

Troll Hawke is the best. It's a testament to her friends' patience that none of them slap her during all those seven years.

So, here's an opinion... I think Elthina was a big fool and extremely naive to let the Templars bully the Mages into blood magic and expect the Maker to make everything better if He willed it. Therefore, by her reasoning, it must be the Maker's will that she got blown up with her Chantry when Anders jenga'd it, and that she probably wouldn't mind. :)

Ha ha ha ha, WANT A SANDWICH??? XD Why yes, I'd like a sandwich. And since you're going to play host and offer me food, CAN I MOVE IN? Well OMG yes, I want you with me until we diiiie! .... Wait, you want me to kill you now? T_T Well you blew up the Chantry so, to be fair, and by your own justice you have to pay... ;_;

@KoP -- That's okay. I certainly don't mind at the moment. ;) Are we even allowed to flirt here? :o

No, it's not total inequality, it just annoys me personally, and that's what I thought beckaliz was referring to (apparently that wasn't the case).

And for the record, I'm female too. :) I work IRL in a male-dominated section of the newsroom (sports) and I certainly don't have a sense of inequality in my heterosexual relationship. I tried the alpha male macho firefighter thing briefly and it ended up with me going "loleffu" basically. (That said, I wouldn't want a doormat I could steamroll, either.)

EDIT: And yes, TrollHawke was my first and canon Hawke. Oh god. I would have slapped her, lol. But I find her strangely endearing as well.

If I recall correctly, the main thing that irked people about hardcore CousGirls wasn't their numbers, but the insisting that Alistair x Warden can't end well unless : 1. The Warden marries Alistair 2. He becomes king 3. (optional) they have babies, forgetting about the whole Grey Warden thing.

Everything else was deemed 'tragic' or something.

So cous means vagina? So Cousland is the female equivalent of... this?

The whole turn from "LOL SANDWICH" to creepy super-sappy was sort of hilarious. Hawke really does fit with Anders

And everyone flirts with KoP. It's like a natural law or something.
