Well, I couldn't find any of our original threadwide vows, but here was my original codex for the Andersthread relationship from about a month ago:

"Conviced they were no better than abominations, the Anders Thread was determined to gain mastery over the madness inside themselves... or die trying. It is increasingly apparent that they are losing this struggle. Prone to wild mood swings between deep melancholy and manic determination, the Anders Thread has again taken up the mantle of freeing Anders from his pants- though it is unclear whether this decision came from Anders or the Anders Thread.

In private, the Anders Thread remains a tender and devoted lover to the Anders Thread; the Anders Thread has repeatedly declared that the Anders Thread is the only reason they have retained any sanity at all."

Yeeeeeeees! That. Is. Awesome. I love you. <3

Awesome. <3

Now I sorely regret coming so late to the Anders Thread party. But it was only because I struggled with myself - I didn't want to break your hearts, you see. Now I want you right here until the day we die.

I've always felt like I should be able to point out that although that comment was well-intended, it kind of defeats it's own purpose since drowning in anything is not generally considered "safe."

Yes, I know, literal-minded. I'll go back to my corner now.

Agreed. funny Hawke should've said "I wouldn't be save then Anders. I'd be drowning in blood. I doubt that's very sanitary." :innocent:

Considering how sincere Anders is when he says it, it would be yet another in a long list of instances where Snark!Hawke deserves a slap across the nose  Gotta give the boy some credit for trying, at least.

I'm aware that the convo has moved on, but if I don't remark on this at least briefly, it's going to continue to nag at me.

(SNIP OF JUSTICE)
I think part of the confusion is that Anders deliberately "anthropomorphizes" Justice to absolve himself of responsibility for some of his thoughts and actions.

This raises a very intriguing possibility. What if Justice's autonomy is mostly psychosomatic on Ander's part? The REAL Justice is fused so deeply with him that he practically doesn't exist anymore except as a driving urge to Do Right, and yet Anders, maybe unable to forget whatever it felt like to fuse with a spirit, keeps imagining him as a seperate thing as a way of coping with his new personality. Heck, even GLOWY!Janders doesn't really act different, he just acts ANGRY. Which is usually understandable.

.....so we go from Justice being the one with commanding powers to Justice being basically a figment of Ander's imagination. I really wish they'd given us enough information to rule at least one possibility out, just one...

Either of them separated would have believable reasons for bombing the Chantry beyond cheap insanity, so I'm not sure why it's a problem if they're doing it together.

I will never understand why a possessed Abomination needed to plant a bomb. Or why a person would need to be possessed to plant a bomb, since in the Real World, unpossessed people plant bombs all the time.

I will always be of the opinion that Janders should have had something way more spectacular then a church-bombing up his sleeve. What, exactly? No idea. Just...something really worthy of both characters, Anders AND Justice.

And to balance out inflicting my humble opinions on you very patient people, here's a quick sketch I just did.

EDIT: I tried posting it directly but it didn't work...

I don't think he's a figment of his imagination. The thing is separating the concept of "Anders" from "Janders"; while Janders may want to identify more strongly with Anders, he is a fundamentally different entity and composed as much of Justice as he is Anders. The dichotomy comes with his internal perceptions and external explanations, where he has assigned his perceived negative aspects to Justice and his perceived positive aspects to Anders and has built an autonomous "Justice" as a convenient excuse for the thoughts and actions he, the collective entity of Janders, does not want to truly deal with. By anthropomorphizing this concept of "Justice", Janders is making "Anders", and by extension himself, an innocent, because he wants to believe that he is "Anders" and that "Justice" is an uncontrollable, outside force that he cannot be faulted for.

He doesn't have to be and the I don't think the narrative ever gives any indication that he did. His nature as an abomination was pretty incidental to that one act of destroying the chantry. His abomination status is about as relevant to the chantry as his hair color; he could have gotten to that point with a different catalyst, sure, but it doesn't really matter to that action so I don't see the point in changing it. It's more central to himself as a character and the thematic elements of the narrative.

Also, it's a fantasy story.  The elves don't have to have to be pointy-eared to be different enough to stand in for our world's oppressed minorities either.  It's a device that fantasy and sci-fi stories use all the time, setting up characters, races, worlds, and universes that do not and cannot possibly exist as metaphors of our reality.  It's kind of the point.  Sometimes people need the abstraction in order to see things without the added burden of culture -- which with us is pretty potent when it comes to blowing up major buildings, no?
