I missed Anders from awakening and looked around for a model that resembled that, but in the end this thread actually convinced me that anders' original model is perfect in itself. I experimented with models for all companions but in the end the only one I kept was a merrill one. I'm not so attracted to Anders physically, but he is one whose appearance grows on you because it is so him. Also, you lose a lot of the subtle facial animatons when you mess with it. Im now more of a purist except for alistair, teagan, and zevran... omg what did they do! I had to mod those at least >.<

In a lot of ways I like Awakenings Anders, I'm not sure which I prefer, but we can't have exactly that face anymore no matter what, so I said out with the old in with the new. On a related note, When I read Anders' voice, I hear this weird hybrid between the two voices in my head... some of the snark of Ellis and the wibble of Howden.

Edit for close enough to top:

Re bolded - I'm totally with you. When I saw the screen shots, and then started playing I really didn't think much of him looks wise. But then his character totally won me over, and now I think he's hotter than cheese on toast.

I very much support the way the artists made the characters. They made them unique, even though I did lament the fact that I could only change around Hawke's armor for awesome stat goodness. Regardless, those are now the faces and outfits I associate with all of the characters, not just Anders, and it would just be weird to significantly change them for a reason as selfish as "I think this looks better." Really, you can't do that in real life anyway apart from plastic surgery, and certainly not just on a whim unless you're doing it to yourself and you're made of money. And we have the mirror to do that to Hawke, anyway. The idea that they wear what they want to supports the fact that they're unique characters and not necessarily what you want them to be, rather than just wearing whatever thing Hawke tells them to wear. At least weapons are a bit more impersonal.

All that being said, I'm also in support of more costume customization, kinda like we had in ME2 where we could choose.

Thank goodness those companion mods don't do anything to the voices, though. Some of those voices are just gorgeous (and I'm a sucker for English accents, what can I say?). Anders' voice is just yummy, even though Fenris' made me melt more than a little when I first heard it (and most times afterwards).

I agree with liking the companions the way they are. I don't find any of them to be ugly. I honestly loved Anders change. The scruffy look is so hot ^_^

Also I am in the boat with their armor, It was nice that my companions had their own skeletons. Mostly because I really don't see Anders being as buffed out as Alistair or Hawke. I mean granted man spent time with the Wardens and was always on the run, so I am sure he has some muscle tone, but he isn't ripped. Also man doesn't exactly eat well >_>

Sorry at work and can't edit from phone so will add top pic when I get home from work.

I love the companion armors in da2. I really don't miss all that micromanaging of stats and armor sets on my party. Plus the armors are unique and really fit each character.

I eventually said out with the old in with the new esp for isabela. Anders just sort of grew on me. I had a mod for a while but couldn't accept it after a while. Plus I missed the facial expressions.

I also liked the unique body models. Enough to consider not screaming madly for shirtless Anders ;)

Stupid Facebook. How can you have an honest poll when you make people register first when they don't want to >:0

This is very beautifully put and I totally agree.

But just gotta say, that's gonna make for some awkward sexytimes with Anders, what with your sister glued to your hip and all...

Just sayin'. Posted Image

Oh, that's not a problem. All she has to do is look the other way and keep her eyes shut. And stuff her fingers in her ears, because judging from the kissing scene, Anders is the type to make a lot of noise

I'm very opposed to any mods that change the companions' appearance (especially White Isabela, boohiss), not only because the models is a part of who the characters are, but also because it seems so... I don't know, nitpicky? The companions are good-looking in my eyes and by any sane standard above average looking, so isn't that good enough?

I suppose I should also count myself in the loyalist group. Then again, Anders ticks a lot of the right boxes with me - he's tall, stubbly, and had longish hair and his ears flare a little from the sides of his head. Also, his face is very expressive, and sometimes when he smiles he reminds me a little of a fox. Uhm. Not that I'm obsessed or anything.

Count another in for people who prefer un-modded Anders. I wouldn't change a thing about him. I don't even like it when his stubble/eyebrow color have been changed. Whenever I see modded pictures or videos, I'm just like, "Who is that guy?"

As we've seen numerous times in this thread through comparisons, his new model and his Awakening model are actually pretty close. They really did a pretty good job not only creating a look that perfectly fit who he was in DA2, but also one that transitioned fairly well from his old model.

Of course, I am in part biased by the fact that I think he looks hot. As others have said, he really grew on me. Aside from a certain trio of assassins, he is the videogame character I find most attractive. So any mod just ends up with him looking uglier to me.

Does anyone know what causes the "love" bugs? I've had both Alistair and Zev bug out on me in imports. I don't mind Zev so much, because honestly I don't expect to keep him leashed, but Ali breaks the heart.

My Brosca just got more into the wahoo! no one's spitting on me! thing as it went along - and not sure what causes the bugs, iirc they said they'd fixed the Zevran ones in the latest patch, not sure about the Alistair related one. I hope for the devs sake there's nothing similar in the DLC if Anders is involved or we may see virtual pitchforks.

Zevran has been fixed? Really? Because last time I read the patch thread they said the issue started with the import in Awakenings, so it wasn't likely to get fixed. I tried after 1.03 to do Zev quest (not on a new playthrough though) and nothing changed. If you assure me is has beeen fixed...I might start a new game just for that. The codex entry is so worth it (it is the same codes entry even if Zev thinks the warden is dead, I saw it with the mod, but it is just sad >.>).

Dragon Age's facebook page has a poll asking who your fav DA2 char is.... and ANDERS IS NOT WINNING.  FIX THIS PEOPLE!

http://www.facebook....44367&qa_ref=qd

Voted!
Anyway Varric is clearly the winner, and I noticed that from the previous poll Anders has gained some votes...maybe people is going over the "omg crazy terrorist betrayed me!" attitude.

Say, about Anders here is a question that im sure comes up a lot but does anyone prefer to change anders' model? Or is it mostly loyalists who would burn someone in oil for changing his appearance? Just curious.

I just like, now and then, to load a mod to give him the ponytail. But in the end I always come back to the normal model. I absolutely cannot see him with other hair/stubble colors or, even worse, with a modded face. I was never a fan of mods that changed drastically a character appearance anyway.
I honestly cannot see that pout or the smirk on another face. It just doesn't feel right.

I'm a total Anders Face Enthusiast. I've always loved that he wasn't classically handsome and in Awakening he was so...foxlike is a good word. DA2 took all the little quirks I loved about his face (his ears, his close upper lip, his beautiful nose, his jaw) and refined it enough to get him away from the more generic Alistair-esque design from Awakening. I wouldn't say I think he's the best looking NPC in the games (Origins Alistair...so handsome), but he's easily the most compelling. I look at him and I want to know.

Did somebody say three way?

Heh...I don't think The Golden Rule can mitigate blood relations.

I think there's some kind of sub-clause about this situation, though.  "Hot twin sisters in a three-way" is the most easily excusable kind, but I think we could submit a motion to broaden this to "hot siblings in general".

speaking as someone who has a twin sister...

I like to change the color of his stubble to match his hair. I know, dark beard/pale hair occurs in nature, but I just don't like it. But yeah, mods that change his face or clothing? Just say no.

as we know from mass effect the good looking blokes aren't always the most popular to romance. i like it better in real life when a guy appears average to you and then gets cuter as you get to know them and appreciate them. cute guys tend to get uglier when you get used to their face.
yay anders for being the former!

My issue with the blonde facial hair, aside from it looking a little weird to me, is that it gets kind of lost. You can't really see it quite as well so he loses some of his scruffy quality.

I didn't think it looked that differently coloured... Just... you know, what short dark/strawberry blonde hair would look like. In beard form.

Random thought for the day...
So Anders went to Kirkwall largely because there was no Warden outpost... well... why isn't there? Is that ever addressed?

I thought it was because Kirkwall was such a large hub for the Templars and it was kind of like they weren't wanted or needed there because the Templars were the powerhouse in Kirkwall. *shrug*

Also, they don't exactly have a lot of outposts do they? Or am I thinking of keeps? They definitely don't have a lot of keeps, LOL.

Okay, so I was bored and in the middle of working on an Ezio & Anders picture when this happened:

Assassin Anders says, "Death to all Templars!"... It makes sense. Just don't question it.

Oooh, I love this. May have to make it my desktop.

As for mods, I don't do them because I play on console (I'd play on PC if I had the money to get a super nice one *sigh*), but I'm not really a fan. I love the characters just the way they are, flaws and all.

Ok I'm gonna spend the next ten minutes trying to catch my breath, I'm laughing so hard. I picture Anders with ME2-style shiny-eye tears while saying this.
