 I have clearly walked in the middle of a disturbing joke. It's still waaaay too funny though! Never change Anders thread.

I'm de-lurking the DA2 section because I finally finished my next chapter to the Bethany&Carver fic! I'm posting here, because I'm now introduced everyone's favorite spirit-abomination. I tried to make Anders a decent mix of Awakening (my personal prefrence, tbh), and DA2 Anders. Please tell me if I did him any justice or not. Crap, unintentional pun.

Oh yeah, and there's going to be Anders/Bethany! ... I'm still not sure what that pairing is called.

Just go to the previous page. Surely started it with linking a great Dr. Horrible/DA2 comic

Hmm....what if I offered a sketch in return for my favorite whatever-you-get when you prompt the community? Your choice? Would that be acceptable?

We could do that! We could even do it seperately from the regular prompt. I'll let you know when I get it posted!

May I squee?? I MAY?

SQUEE!!! :o

My rock looks very nice, thank you. Just had it painted and everything.

It is a funny comic, though

Hey guys! I'm out of town but popping in quick to ask a question from my phone~

Do we know how old Anders is at the beginning of the game? I can headcanon an age but I'd rather use his real one if it's ever given.

(BTW I am in Anders-thread withdrawal. :( But time with family is important.)

It's a bit of a mystery. We can estimate an age, but nothing official has been stated.

I generally figure it as late twenties, about 28, but sadly there's no official answer.

I just finished my first playthrough with my!Hawke.

I spared Anders's life. I didn't think I was going to, but I did. I sent him away, but after a few difficult sans-healer battles getting to the Gallows, I decided to let him rejoin the group when he showed up at the Circle. Although I didn't really want to look at him.

I did break up with him then, though.

And yet, he stayed with me in the epilogue. I wonder what would be going through his mind, slogging around after a woman who said, in pretty explicit terms, that she wasn't going to be #2 in his life, wouldn't forgive him, and didn't love him anymore.

He says he couldn't be with you if you weren't going to support his Mage Freedom Weather Underground Revolution thing. I wonder...

The staying with you is a glitch. I think he stays with you sometimes even if he's dead.

Although, if it wasn't...that would make a heartbreaking story. *contemplates*

Hey... now... I have enough plot bunnies without y'all suggesting more.

I usually set him around the same age. I like the idea that he's pushing 40 at the end of DA2. Seems appropriate.

Wish we could get a bit of grey in his hair when he swaps into the revolutionary garb. :o

Blonds don't show grey all that easily, but I love this idea, too, since I place him at about the same age.  He's older than my Warden.

Considering DA2's timespan, I did wish that the companions showed some signs of aging, if only a little. Though I didn't expect any. Especially on the female LI's since wrinkles on a woman is apparently abominable and many people cried foul at Leliana for sporadically creasing her forehead during conversations.

But one can hope

Oooh, that does sound tasty.    It would be pretty subtle with his hair pulled back like that and considering how light it is.  But add some salt-and-pepper stubble...[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/love.png[/smilie]

I really do think that he's several years older than Hawke, regardless of how old default M!Hawke looks.  He's got enough in his backstory/timeline to warrant that estimate.

I think so too. He snorts and calls Hawke a "little girl/boy" if you threaten him, which wouldn't have much of a punch if he was not quite a bit older.

Is it just me or does anyone else picture their Hawke and Anders going back and forth with the "Old mans," and "Little girls/boys." :D

Quite often, but mostly in self-deprecating humor about their (potientially sizable) age differences or during flirty sexytimes.

Aggro!Hawke totally got into it with him over that one.  She's been the head of her family, gotten them out of Ferelden and into Kirkwall, and she's not taking that kind of crap from some pissy healer, glowy eyes or no.  Plus, he's kind of hot and it gives her an excuse to get right in his face.  :P

That's a shame. I like the idea of Aveline looking something to the effect of, "Yes, I'm old enough to be your mother, and I can STILL KICK YOUR BUTT." :o

Just realized that agewise, Alistair is probably younger than Anders by a few years. Never thought of it that way before. Which makes my Warden (see icon) probably the same age as Anders, given her backstory.

I'd say that Alistair is quite a bit younger than Anders. Isn't he only 20/21 in Origins?

I've said this a million times before, but I always pegged Anders as being 25/26 in Awakening. Nate is 30, Alistair is 23ish by then, and he seems definitely in between the two of them, both by his appearance and his personality. If he started escaping as an apprentice, he could have had several under his belt before he took his Harrowing (or even made multiple attempts in one year). And Gamlen calls him "boy" in the third act, which would seem strange if Anders was almost 40.

Of course, Karl makes me doubt this a little. He seems to be solidly upper 30's and I'd be more than a little squicked if there was a 10+ age difference between him and Anders considering they were together when Anders was an apprentice.
