Wait, it could be a series...along with mage!Hawke and First Enchanter Orsino.

Oh, I'm just getting started. I've had a rotten day and stress tends to put me in a very naughty mood. Call it a defense mechanism or something. :wizard:

Your defense mechanism could become someone else's entertaining evening. ;)

Hawke and Anders and First Enchanter Orsino depicted as half-naked and posing for the camera?

That would be very entertaining, indeed

EDIT: What an incredibly silly top.

Greg Ellis works magic (hah!) with snark. Sigh. I wouldn't miss Awakenings!Anders so much if Cullen just had a bloody sense of humor. He is SO SRS all the time. Mages this and demons that and come on man, say something funny! Crack a joke and smile a little! You can't let that voice go to waste, that's what makes puppies cry.

I'm actually glad we didn't see too much of Anders in Cullen. Give or take a certain amount of romantic nievity, it's hard to think of two characters who are supposed to be less alike then Cullen and Anders.

I did jump a bit when Steve Valentine's very recognizable (different but still him!) voice turned up in one of the first guards you meet in Kirkwall.

But I miss him so much. :crying: Ah, well. I'll just have to replay Awakenings.

Huh. I never noticed Steve Valentine! Is he a generic or named guard?

By the way, our meme thread just got Woo'd

We helped create a meme - or tried to - that got DreamerM so excited she started an own thread about it. It's in the "Official Campaign Quests and Story" section of the forum. But then Stanley Woo swooped down upon us and locked it.

Lol, that thread was golden. Maybe we could continue it on Tumblr (even though I don't have an account).

As soon as something is self-referentially called a meme it becomes a forced meme and those are no fun.

I'm guessing I'm rather alone in that I prefer the DA2 voice over Awakenings voice. Both are fantastic, it just strikes me that the DA2 voice is more suitable for the person Anders has become - the one we actually get to romance and the one who can openly admit that he's fallen in love.

Maybe I'm just odd. I had only played Awakenings, like, once, and then was done with the game until DA2 came out. So I suppose I don't have such a strong disconnect between his transformation... I get to see Anders as Hawke might, unencumbered by the knowledge of what he used to be, and instead see him only as he is now.

My thoughts exactly! I was like, "dude, you barge in and poop on our party and you don't even continue the joke? Bad form, man. Bad form."

I've always gotten the impression that the majority opinion here is pro-Howden.

I prefer Howden, personally, and I did play Awakenings before ever touching DA2. I'm of the same opinion as you that his voice is befitting of who (and what) he has become, all he has been through up to that point, and his current situation.

That being said, if they ever change Alistair's voice actor, I may blow a fuse.

I like both the voices. The fact that Cullen and Anders have the same VA at one point give me the crazy idea that while at the Tower, Anders did the absolute best Cullen impression and may have gotten him into some trouble at least once, possibly with female Amell/Surana ;)

No, no, I agree with you. Howden is great as Anders in DA2. It's simply that Greg Ellis is perfect for snark, and now that he is solely playing Cullen - who is no longer a small character, and his voice has become characteristic for him - I don't get to hear Ellis snark anymore. And that makes me sad :(

I'm hoping (speculating) that Cullen will play a relatively large role in DA3, possibly even be a companion. *crosses fingers* Maybe we'll still get some more Greg Ellis snark, yet!

anders-snark best lines
*ahem*

>Not when I'm naked I don't.
>AR! Let me tell you about my life in one word!" (Belches)
>Because it sounds difficult?

and this was awesome...

Velanna: My fireballs are bigger than yours.
Anders: It's not the size that counts, Velanna.
Velanna: Did they tell you that in your Circle? They were trying not to hurt your feelings.
Anders: The Circle lied to me? Andraste's sword, my world is falling apart! I have been unmanned!

I like both voices too. At this point the voice I hear in my head when reading anything about Anders is a perfect hybrid of the two, though. Howden made me seriously fall for Anders, but I feel that if Howden had been directly slightly further toward the snark end of the spectrum, it would have been even better. I hear it in some of his lines and I'm like "Oh my god so close!"

Still, everyone is constantly complaining about Anders' lines to F!Hawke and I don't think they're inherently that bad at all. I don't think that a single one of the "warning" lines that people complain about would have struck anyone as 'bad' if they had been delivered slightly more dryly. That's not Howden's fault, though.

I didn't remember at all this one with Velanna, there again she was never in my party xD
I'd add even this one to the list:

Justice: Apathy is a weakness.
Anders: So is death. I'm just saying.

I can't say which voice I prefer, I'm thinking about from a while. Howden though was just perfect for what Anders has become. Still, I miss Ellis, but just maybe on some lines.

Cullen wasn't the SMALLEST character, but I thought he was another one who should have gotten more screen-time then he did, especially considering the very important part he plays in the Finale.

Really, we've heard almost nothing except how loyal he is to Meredith, but when she called for Hawke's execution, he turned on her. I really think we should have gotten at least one Hawke/Cullen scene where those two hammer out some sort of report. Maybe he joins as a temporary companion for some mission or other? Something to at least show that these two have some sort of bond before Cullen turns on the boss he's devoted to and puts his life on the line to protect him/her.

Cullen facinates me, actually, because now he's seen both mages AND Templars at their worst. The poor guy will either go crazy or become one heck of a peacekeper.

He did it to Stand For What Is Right, not protect Hawke. Giving them more of a personal connection wouldn't really help with that.
