I guess I should have clarified a little better. I know he has a bit of stubble in DAA but in DA2 it is downright shag. That's what I meant with the "clean shaven look." Also, it appears lighter in DAA than it does in DA2. It's just more noticeable I guess and it bothers me more.

Also, I do agree about the beefcake thing, LOL. Anders in DAA looks like he could beat the crap outta someone with his bare hands. Not like that is a bad thing, but when your a mage why would you NEED to be that beefy? I always attributed it to the fact that he seems very tall, and taller people are usually more built like that. Of course exceptions all around. Regardless I'm glad he is more lithe looking in DA2.

And again, I see that modders can't just do one thing. It can't just be blue eyes, or pouty lips (did they really need to be poutier?) or a face tattoo...it has to be ALL OF IT and, what the hell, a couple of corndogs.

It had to be done.

Finally.

I not-so-proudly present... Corndog Anders!

Aww, I for one adore Anders stubble in DA2. It goes with his character. He's far more concerned with his mission than with his appearance at the moment. And for someone who used to be rather vain, it's another of those things that show you just how far removed he is from who he used to be. He's now concerned more with helping people than he is with his looks. He even mentions this to Varric in one of my favorite banters.

Plus...scruffy is damn sexy IMO

Guise, best Anders ever.

You are a bad person.

Wow, I'm getting some major Cailan flashbacks there. His spirit lives on, apparently.

He has just as much stubble in Awakenings, actually, but since it's light it isn't so noticable and sometimes blends in with his skin color. Here, the contrast makes all of that visible and it makes it look like he has more.

And yeah, me too. I was always under the impression that he was supposed to be lanky. His head was already thin and somewhat gaunt and looked a little silly sitting on a large, muscled body. Then again, I thought the beef was overdone in Origins anyway; the first time I stripped Alistair of his armor I started laughing, because I had not expected him to be so huge.

You know I really miss his clean shaven look. In DA2 he looks so scruffy with that 5 o'clock shadow. I mean it adds character, but I do miss washed and shaved Anders, LOL. Plus his jewelry.. I do miss his gold armbands and earring for some reason. It was so "him" back then. *sigh*

I'm so glad they changed the body model though - I really dislike that huge beefcake model for him. Well, for any mage really. I do imagine they have good upper body strength, but mostly I picture them lithe. Although I would also approve of tubby mages. Posted Image

I get a giant kick of huge-mega-bulky mage hawke. Its all "ME MAGE! ME HIT U W/ POINTY STICK!" because he's as large as a freeking quinari ;p

It makes me giddy when I pair male mage hawke and Anders, because he could LITTERALLY club anders and drag him back to the home-cave ;x

As for Alistair bulk, I always just pictured Alistair like John Cena or Randy Ortan (OMG my husband's wrestling fetish.. its becomming mine, but for COMPLETELY different reasons. ) in size. Huge, muscly... abbs.. *drool...*

Disclamer: I haven't had coffee yet and fail at spelling at almost-8am.:crying:

I agree that Anders was too buff because of the default dude model. He looked weirder than weird in massive armor because his head was small...

Posted Image

See how tiny and weird his head looks? Also...stubbly! I think the biggest difference there is that DAO facial hair was so precisely defined, it made it look groomed while DA2 makes it clear that the boy just isn't dealing with that part of himself anymore.

@DragonRacer is my new favorite poster. The corn dogs manage to distract from the rest of that monstrosity.

Also!! New prompt is up at Manifestos Welcome.

It bugs me too. Though not as much as all the corpses in Fenris' manison. Several corpses are littered all over the place, some with huge swords sticking through them, like ornament, and it makes me wonder. Fenris, what are you doing, man? Are you a collector, or what?

I NEED COFFEE, but its all the way Up Stairs, and my little boys are being rambuncious this morning and I don't WANT to walk that far..

So instead, I'll post a picture while I sit here and whine.

A Gender-Bending Angel Hawke, and his Team Awesome as they glare ever-long-and-violently at a overly-flirty Isabela. Also, glowy Anders is amusing.

Sooo...  Does that mean that he will no longer see himself as an out of control abomination that must die at all cost in order to ensure that he never again loses himself to Justice...  And happily run away with you at the end of the rivalmance if you side with mages?

Well yeah, my Hawke said they were going to be fugitives together, and Anders was happy...I suppose he is so overwhelmed with joy, fighting with the mages with Hawke, that he forgets his little Vengeance problem.  That's the only explanation I can come up with.
In my head, they will deal with the "problem" on the run later...

Well, Fenris needs them as a setting for his coreographic routines. A mansion with corpses is the perfect stage for a ballet, right?

*sigh* Modders need to stop messing with Anders' already glorious face and get to work on something of actual importance: removing the Trogdor arm from the male Mage champion armor. Still waiting guys!

Or they could go all the way and just make Hawke look completely like Trogdor when he puts on that armor. Oh, hey, then he'd finally know the dragon trick, hahaha.

But yes, in all seriousness, modders need to stop messing with Anders poor face. And they definitely need to stop with the crazy tattoos.

Also, to the folks talking about the recycled peeps in Anders clinic... need I bring up the body underneath the sheet in that back corner? You'd think someone might want to, oh, I dunno, dispose of that at some point? I mean, I understand it's a little dirty, backwater clinic hidden in Darktown, but... still, it's a clinic.

Tranquility... what are the different theories out there on how it's done? I was thinking about it, and thinking about the Arcane Warrior specialty and the "Fade Shroud" ability (caster is mostly in the Fade). Since the Arcane Warrior specialty was implied to have died out, aside from finding it in the elven ruins, I doubt it would be in Kirkwall. It makes one wonder, though, how it might affect the Rite of Tranquility. I know the Templars can negate magic, so this is just some musings.

I'm thinking about Anders having a conversation with Hawke about my Warden. Reyonii is an Arcane Warrior, and by the end of Awakenings she was nigh on UNTOUCHABLE with all the shielding buffs, and she ran around looking like some kind of... I can't rightly describe it. Fade Shroud + Arcane Shield + Fade Shield made her look like a supernova. Seriously, I'd be terrified to see THAT coming at me. Let the Templars try to Tranquil THAT. XD

my!Hawke's reaction to Anders and Bodahn making references to the Warden, along with the quest about ferretting out the conspirators trying to oust her from the arling is something along the lines of either being jealous of her being spoken of in awe (I have no doubts Anders was impressed with her) by this man he loves, or being really interested in meeting her, just because of outlandish stories.

Just in case we get to see/play our Warden in DA3, I'm going to keep a "Anders alive" save so they can have a "yay we're buddies" reunion. It would be great. :D As long as they acknowledge the friendship from DAA... Because if you did his companion quest and got all the buddy points, it should have good mention.

Yeah, they can make changes to ALL of Kirkwall throughout the Acts, but they can't change the Companions' home bases? :(

At least at Anders' clinic you can imagine it's a new body with every act. Even the best doctors lose patients after all. The ones that drive me nuts are the corpses in Fenris' mansion. Unless he keeps killing would-be burglars, those bodies have been there for 6 years. How have they not decomposed? Is he preserving them? For what possible purpose?

I'm not sure how to explain my theories on what is actually done in the process of tranquility beyond the whole "severing the connection to the fade" thing. I have several thoughts about the nature of the connection to the Fade, and the nature of the Fade itself, though.

My theories are currently largely based around Karl. He doesn't say it's like Anders has opened the door back to the fade again, rather he says it's like he's brought a piece of the Fade into this world. It makes me think that a person for the most part "lives" in the waking world, but gets the fuel for creativity and free will from the Fade. Dreams are what motivate us to do everything... there's a line from the sandman I'm going to horribly miquote... "Hell wouldn't be hell without the dream of heaven." Now, our spirits can "go" to the fade to dream or to travel (if we're a mage) but they "live" in our bodies.

I used to think that the souls of the tranquil were living in the fade, like the mage you meet there in DA:O. Now I realize it's probably much worse... the soul is trapped inside the body, but it doesn't have the 'fuel' of dreaming to give it free will or creativity or emotion.

I don't think Anders can be tranquilled, because I think that Justice's presence would provide the same source of power that is usually siphoned in through a person's connection to the fade. Justice is a physical part of the fade that is completely in this world, I think you'd have to find some way to rip him out of Anders before Anders could be tranquilled. I'd honestly like to see him gain voluntary control over his glowworm and go all blue around a few tranquil, especially ones who 'volunteered' for tranquility. It'd be interesting to see what they think of it now... we know that Karl hated it, but he was tranquilled against his will... others purport that those who chose it might be less 'kill me now.'

I'm also curious if a non-mage could be made tranquil. Nobody's ever tried, but could you create a slave just as will-less by tranquiling someone ordinary?

I'm very curious as to how Justice outside the fade differs from the Demons we see outside the fade in places where the veil is very thin. Are they unable to actually merge with humans, or simply uninterested or unwilling to do so? If we go into the Fade with Justice seeking another good Fade spirit, will the good spirit be able to explain the nature of Vengeance to us?

And my thoughts on Anders meeting the Warden again are well known. (I'm FOR it)

YES. Though I should say the same for all the companions. Most mods I have seen of Merrill blow up her lips so much it looks like she's just been through a round of fisticuffs. Don't even get me started on Isabela.

The only issue I have with Anders is that his tongue sometimes clip through his lower lip and it's a little distracting.

On further reflection, I think Fenris is just as much a fan of necroboners as the rest of this thread. He must be reading our posts. I wonder if that means he secretly likes Anders too...
