Anyone else chuggin' along the bipolar express? OMG now I've got images of Anders in talk-therapy. Ha ha ha!
I've got really severe ADD, which can manifest as mild bipolar when I'm not on ADD medication. You can tell when that happens on this thread sometimes... it also causes insomnia, which is great.
I want Anders in talk therapy so badly. The fact that you can't get him some sodding HELP is what frustrates me more than anything else in the game. I have a degree in psychology, but the reason I got out of that business was that I find troubled men too attractive. Ok, that wasn't the only reason, but it was a significant factor in my decision-making process. I should have gone with the English degree instead. Ah well, curse me for trying to be practical.
/cough
I want to see a good post-game fic with the Warden as Pscyotherapist.
Ohhhhh I used to have really bad insomnia. I fortunately haven't had to take anything to help me sleep in the last few months, to my grateful surprise. Sometimes it takes a while to fall asleep though. I can imagine Anders lying awake trying to sleep, his mind running in dizzy circles that are like that pic posted here in the last couple days... Thinking, "Hawke Hawke Hawke Hawke @_@". Unable to get her/im out of his mind. Thought static. Lying awake dizzy no matter how tired you are and just wanting to cry or yell at things.
Yeah, I like Hawke, but if you take the story at face-value, it seems like ANY Hawke is rather completely incapable of handling anything like getting Anders any real "help". But, being able to put myself in Anders's position, a lot of people simply do not know how to react. He doesn't want sympathy, but he wants understanding. He also makes it clear that things with him aren't going to be easy, and I think that he knows it's not just because of the possession thing or the cause for mages. He doesn't make excuses for what he does, but he lets Hawke know how helpless he feels sometimes.
And at the end, he tells Hawke that anything Hawke would have to say to him to condemn him, he's already said to himself. He did it anyway. He'll take responsibility for it, and he knows it was a horrible thing to do, but he doesn't regret it. He has his reasons for why he did it. Maybe that's why I ran crying for Fenris on my second PT... That particular bit hit really close to home subconsciously.
What kind of Warden would BE a psychotherapist? XD I know mine wouldn't! She's like, "Dude. Not very subtle, but I'm not exactly subtle either. It worked though! Now, ok, can you help me find MY phylactery?" (Or does the Warden Taint thing negate a phylactery's usefulness?)
