What is with the three of you today? I was first going to start a singy "kromify and KoP sitting in a tree"-post but now I have to mention so many it's getting convoluted.
4 actually. Heidenreich as well.
And we may have room for one or two more. It is a big spaceous tree.
I totally gave you cookies before Komify!

EDIT: My God, Heidenreich, we are of the same mind. I knew my mother lied to me when she said I had no secret twin sister!

Well they are modelled to be extremily jealous and possessive in their master's image, so chances are they'll try to kill each other over you.
Anyways, I gtg to an important meeting. See you all and sorry for the derailement

I personally don't really see the appeal of the Anders romance in general outside metagaming and for the RPing experience. But that's something we already covered.
So you don't see the appeal of the Anders romance aside from... playing the game? Unless there's a way to experience a cRPG that isn't either in-character roleplaying or metagaming that I haven't been introduced to. Self-insert?
As in I don't see the appeal of the romance were it in real life.
I'm going to do it again, I'm going to be the crazy person who is completely honest and says "YES this is legitimately appealling to me!"
Feel free to pre-adjust your estimations of me downward.
First: I've never been in love, so being in love with someone who is unrestrainedly in love with me also is appealing. I know that the "being unrestrainedly in love" thing pretty much applies to every Bioware romance, but it's the keystone upon which my entire argument sits. If I had the chance to be in love with someone as smart and funny and passionate as Anders who was NOT crazy at the same time, of course I'd pick that instead. Come on, people. It's just sense. (This is one of the reasons I'm pro DA:A Anders, and yes I'd let him have his mistress if I could have one too). The problem is that you rarely find people like that: all the smartest and funniest people I've met have usually either been ridiculoulsy taken or had deep-seated emotional or self-esteem issues of some kind. I've rarely met anyone with an IQ over 130 who wasn't diagnosable.
Secondly: I like having experiences. I just do things sometimes, things you might think are inadvisable, like going on a cruise for Jonathan Coulton fans with two strange men who I met on a Jonathan Coulton message board as my roomates. And you know what? It was awesome and I totally didn't get murdered or anything! I've never had any significant heartbreak or a bad relationship, so I'm totally due. Also, I'm completely confident in my ability to walk away if things get so bad that I can't cope with them, or that I actually fear for my own safety. Nothing we see in DA2 goes that far for me (in the context of DA2, that is. To me, there is no functional equivalent to the stuff that goes down in Thedas when compared to the real world). Basically, I weigh risk vs. how fascinating and fun something is, and I'm willing to put up with a 2% chance of getting my head ripped off by an abomination as a tradeoff for all the good and interesting things Anders provides. Those numbers are fine... in Thedas, especially, where your chances of getting offed by an abomination are pretty high to start with.
Thirdly: This whole spirit posession thing? That's fascinating. I want to figure that out. I want to write about it and study it and make out with it. It's something that has never been before, as far as we know. It may be an entirely new thing under the sun. I don't see how or why people aren't more excited about this! The fact that your boyfriend might be an entirely new kind of being? How is that not unbelievably sexy to everyone? This is... one of those things that only appeals to me, probably, right?
Fourthly: I do think I'm pretty good at helping people. There is a satisfaction that comes from knowing that a guy is demonstrably better off with you than without you, I'm not going to lie. And my top five problems in life... Anders would be a pretty good fix for, honestly. Some of them are health problems (I could use someone with healing hands right the heck now, for instances), and some of them are problems of not knowing where to direct myself sometimes and yeah, I got the standard geek girl poor-self-esteem-about-my-appearance jive.
So yeah, while Awakening Anders is vastly more appealing for dozens and dozens of reasons, if I were in Thedas and in Hawke's position, I can't say that I wouldn't be attracted to DA2 Anders. He loves you, he's fascinating, he's a truly unique entity, you can help him and he can help you. Now, if he's "stuck" in his mental state at the end of DA2, and there's no helping him get better, then I'd probably end up leaving. But I don't see the harm in trying.
I'm not sure if this even answers the original question. But yeah. I'd hit that. I'd at least hit that in most realities.

Me neither and I doubt many would find him appealing.
If I was Hawke I'd be more liable to go for the nice cute guy down the lane than anyone in the party. Someone who I don't have to worry about adding to my piles of headaches and grief. They're all crazy in ways. If I was feeling adventurous I might go for Fenris or Merrill. Anyone else though...no way. And even those two are a stretch.
Then again I'm the type to love stability and the LIs in DA2 are anything but stable.

That nice cute guy down the lane would probably run away. Trouble is attracted to Hawke the same way I'm attracted to pastries and anyone with any sense wouldn't go near that with a ten-foot pole:lol:
Did you romance anyone in Origins?

Hey! My Hawke's pretty enough to draw him in.
Alistair mostly. Leliana for my more adventerous (and crazy) wardens, Morrigan and Zevran just to see what happened. I romanced everyone at least once just to see the subplot. I don't really consider that canon for said character though.

I once was trying to explain my personality to a friend of mine (the fact that I was doing that... should tell you enough about me really), and I said "I'm probably the craziest person you know who you aren't actually afraid of." He thought about it for about half a minute and said. "Yes, I suppose that's true."
Alistair is the sane option, but if you're not a Cousland you have to make the choice between putting a compassionate man in partial control of a hugely important nation or maintaining an exclusive relationship with him. And while I'm generally OK with the mistress idea, I'm not sure that Alistair would be able to sustain something like that long term, especially if he produced an heir with someone else. If you're a Cousland though, yeah that's pretty freaking sane.
Also, both Anders and Alistair fit the "you have a british accent, +80 sexypoints" rule. Most American girls have this rule.
The Bioware romances that are the most realistically tempting to me are Garrus and Kaidan. I'd definitely pick Garrus if you could ensure that we'd be sexually compatible and nobody would go into anaphylactic shock. (Fun fact: Firefox's spell check does not recognize anaphylactic as a word.) Otherwise, out of all the Bioware romances, I might have to pick a nice, stable Kaidan. Oh Kaidan, you come in third, or possibly fourth, but are less likely to kill me.

Yeah, me too. I feel sorry for Alistair in my canon run, though, because there it is my Warden who is the sort of person who should never date anyone, ever. He is such a pleasant fellow, but going back to romancing him now feels a bit like going back to drinking cider after being used to whiskey, which is an incredibly weird metaphor.
