I felt it was appropriate :P

It's very appropriate for my poor Hawke.

Yeah, me too. I feel sorry for Alistair in my canon run, though, because there it is my Warden who is the sort of person who should never date anyone, ever. He is such a pleasant fellow, but going back to romancing him now feels a bit like going back to drinking cider after being used to whiskey, which is an incredibly weird metaphor.

LOL. I tend to make my Wardens way too sane for all the things they go through. That said I adore the Only Sane Man trope I could picture my Wardens all like:  to all the companions. XD. Just have a few crazies. I love some cider. Weird metaphor but it works which is the important part.

Me neither and I doubt many would find him appealing.

If I was Hawke I'd be more liable to go for the nice cute guy down the lane than anyone in the party. They're all crazy in ways. If I was feeling adventurous I might go for Fenris or Merrill. Anyone else though...no way. And even those two are a stretch.

Then again I'm the type to love stability and the LIs in DA2 are anything but stable.

That nice cute guy down the lane would probably run away. Trouble is attracted to Hawke the same way I'm attracted to pastries and anyone with any sense wouldn't go near that with a ten-foot pole:lol:

Did you romance anyone in Origins?

I have to say if I were to meet either Fenris or Anders in real life, I can imagine telling a friend the next day something like:  "I meet somebody who was kind of hot last night, but I'm really not interested.  Way too much negative energy.  You know the type--bitter and angry over stuff that happened to them years ago.  Some people just can't let go.  And they wouldn't shut up about mages!"

Lmao. Fenris and My Husband are actually quite alike in additude and personality. Both have harsh pasts that scarred them, both are willing to put up with A LOT of weird ****, both brood, endlessly. Both do deadpan humor exquisetly.

If I could only get my husband to actualy PLAY. But, alas, I'm being forced to resort to no talking about dragon age at the dinner table.. because me TALKING AND TALKING about it has him completely turned off ;p

I was looking for something I haven't seen posted before, and I know this one has, but arg the expression on the kitty's face is absolutely the best thing in all of human history. Fact: cats cause hyperbole.

It's funny... I usually don't romance characters I like with my sociopath PCs, who are all named Crow, after my first sociopath tabletop character. Garrus, Kaidan, Alistair, Zevran... all safe from Crow.

Crow ends up with Liara in Mass Effect, and Leliana in DA:O (only because Morrigan is straight... I actually think she'd LIKE a nice sociopath), but in DA2... Crow still ends up with Anders. Because I don't feel bad for subjecting him to her. I don't know why this is.

The only Bioware LIs I would sane, legit do would be Isabela and Zevran, preferably at the same time, because what's the point of living life if you don't have every STD on the planet and also a pirate ship.

though if i'm being completely honest with myself i would probably date anders for like 6 months and then attempt to absolve myself by pretending it never happened later because oh wow i have terrible judgment

I would date Garrus.

I would pine for Alistair and probably be his best friend in the world until some prettier version of me came along, and they'd start dating. Then, one night he and I'd get drunk together and he'd look at me all warmly and be like "Why did we never date?" and I'd say "Because the world couldn't handle our collective awesome." Afterwards, I'd cry myself to sleep, and again two years later when I received an invitation to Alistair and Pretty!Me's wonderful wedding.

I'd hero worship Isabela, but never be able to hook up with her because I'd feel not worthy, and asking her for sex advice would be weird afterward.

I'd date Awakening Anders in a hot minute. DA2 Anders? I could see him clinging to me, because I'm exactly the sort of person who'd treat him well and I have that "Give me your poor, your tired, your handsome hobos yearning to be free" look about me. And...Maker. I would date him. I would adore him and maybe admire him, but I would be driven mad with frustration and probably blame myself for his not getting better. It would be a disaster...

I wouldn't characterize any of the DA:O love interests as insane, although Leliana is a little strange.  Whereas Isabela's the only one in DA2 who isn't completely nuts.

A cute nice guy down the lane in Kirkwall??  He'd surely turn out to be serial-murdering blood mage.

Crow Hawke totally stabbed the last ten people who pointed that out.
Your face though, she likes.

Actually, now I'm picturing how she got that name in the DA2 universe (since it can't be the name her parents actually gave her.)

"Hey, aren't you that girl with the bird name? Crow right?" The Merc laughed at her, stinking of sour beer and bad decisions. Hawke's dagger flashed, straight through the Merc's esophagus, leaving him gurgling in the dust.
"Right. My name is Crow, now, I guess." She turned to face the other man, still wet with his friend's blood.
"What's my name?"
"C...crow?"
"Good answer." She smiled "If anyone ever calls me anything else, I'm going to take it out on you."

Kirkwall is not just Silent Hill, it's also Innsmouth. And possibly Arkham. Are there any other good cursed towns?

This is especially appropriate when you stop and consider that Bethany is like a sane version of Merrill and Carver is a sane version of Fenris.

Alistair didn't dump my Warden, but she's selfish and made Anora queen and did the DR so she could keep him. She also gave him sympathies instead of hardening him.

@CGG: So we see your soft underbelly!! Watch out, they'll know where the weak spots are. *furtive glance*

And, Anders! <3

Honestly the safest bet is to lust silently after your best friend, hoping he'll come around in the sequel.

Hey, It worked perfectly for Garrus! And terribly for Anders! Clearly it's time for it to work perfectly again, with Varric!

I'm partial to Hagsgate (the Last Unicorn, Peter S. Beagle), but it's a very different sort of curse.

I'm... going to allow it, actually. Since it's basically a place that sucks because some bad local juju went down, and which is going to continue to suck until someone reverses said juju.

Also, @Surelyforth Sunnydale! Obviously! That's the town that defined hellmouth for our generation!

(love you really)  <3

I once was trying to explain my personality to a friend of mine (the fact that I was doing that... should tell you enough about me really), and I said "I'm probably the craziest person you know who you aren't actually afraid of." He thought about it for about half a minute and said. "Yes, I suppose that's true."

Alistair is the sane option, but if you're not a Cousland you have to make the choice between putting a compassionate man in partial control of a hugely important nation or maintaining an exclusive relationship with him. And while I'm generally OK with the mistress idea, I'm not sure that Alistair would be able to sustain something like that long term, especially if he produced an heir with someone else. If you're a Cousland though, yeah that's pretty freaking sane.

Also, both Anders and Alistair fit the "you have a british accent, +80 sexypoints" rule. Most American girls have this rule.

The Bioware romances that are the most realistically tempting to me are Garrus and Kaidan. I'd definitely pick Garrus if you could ensure that we'd be sexually compatible and nobody would go into anaphylactic shock. (Fun fact: Firefox's spell check does not recognize anaphylactic as a word.) Otherwise, out of all the Bioware romances, I might have to pick a nice, stable Kaidan. Oh Kaidan, you come in third, or possibly fourth, but are less likely to kill me.

*raises hand* Total sucker for British accents.

Kaidan! <3 But what about Carth? He was great. I could call him a hairless wookie to his face.

I can't bring myself to do the mistress ending because, even if Alistair doesn't marry Anora right then, he'll have to marry somebody eventually and then it'll just all go pear-shaped and sad. But being Queen Cousland is nice.

I did all the romance options in Origins and liked them all, even with my mage and city elf who ended up with Morrigan and Leliana, respectively. I actually got choked up at Ariadne's ring conversation in Witch Hunt, which surprised me. Romanced Alistair the most, though. That voice.

Edit: And Awakening Anders was funny because he was hitting on all the women and getting shot down repeatedly. =]

Those boots. <3
If Anders was a real life LI, I'd give him a chance purely on the basis of those boots.

Then, I'd probably run away screaming, because I'm not my Hawke.

It would just be a political marriage; it's not like putting on a piece of metal obligates you to even like that person. Geeez, monogamy queens :wizard:

... And, let's be honest, getting married is pretty much the easiest way to ensure you'll never have sex with that person again. Mistress!Warden probably has it good.

Plus, he apparently hasn't gotten married by Act 3 of DA2. He probably got wind that Anora didn't see the need to when she's made queen on her own, so...*shrug*.

I'm a sucker for any accent, Russians in particular.

I liked the LIs in Origins, only went through the Zevran one with my Brosca. My Cousland was too busy trying to get **** done to pursue anything, especially after Iona. Everyone sort of left afterwards, her best bud left in a fit and she sort of fell into the warden duty rut.

Was originally going do comics about her and Howe getting together but with the Anders' end text about him coming back because it was "where he belonged" and the "love" glitch things sort of took off on their own. With DA2, I imagine the warden spent most of her time at Amaranthine taking care of the keep, Ser Pounce-a-lot and getting drunk with Oghren kvetching about their SOs going off and crazy. Until Alistair gets dragged back by Teagan and the two have it out.

I liked Fenris as a LI in DA2, he's kind of easy to understand once you start treating him like Sten. Liked Sten, Sten was cool.

My Amell!Warden is gonna be a sweetheart hook up with Alistair and make him marry Anora and stay his mistress, and her cousin f!mage!Hawke is going to date Anders and run away with him. It'll be my campy!canon. :D There's a place for that, right?
