You know damn well which one of your assistants I'd prefer. Though really, I honestly don't care what kind of powers he has.
He's too busy babysitting my kid.
BTW, don't you find it fascinating that David, when given the chance to wish for anything he wants, chose Owen instead of anything else?
I personally don't interpret it as Xanatos loving Owen or necessarily caring about him that much instrinsically (though I do think he does care deeply). I think that Xanatos as a person sees the value in someone being useful / reliable / dependable and hates waste (he says that many times). That's why I think he valued Owen and not anything else.
Aaaand I can swing this back around to Anders! Because that's how I work! (also kind of the rules for this thread).
This is, in a lot of ways, related to one of our fundamental differences: the value of order over chaos. Owen is order - reliable, efficient, depednable, all that stuff, but completely unmagical. The Puck is chaos incarnate, practically. No matter how precisely you word your wish to the Puck, he's going to find out a way for it to go unexpectedly for you. Even if it doesn't actively harm you, it will go counter to your expectations in some huge way. For Xanatos, chaos that he can't forsee is something he'd far prefer to avoid, so he picks order over the temptation of chaos, despite the fact that the richness of possibility offered by chaos
seems so much greater. (I agree that Xanatos cares about Owen as well, but that's another topic.)
I like that feeling of the unknown and the unknowable, and to some extent, that's why I respect both what Anders did by combining with Justice and even some of their subsequent actions. Anders basically made a fey wish, and got what he asked for... in a crazy, unpredictable, uncontrollable way.

I see you have now fully migrated your antagonist self to a new thread... [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]
Though watching you endorse silliness is almost surreal.
It was bound to happen sooner or later. I like Varric and Aveline more, but Anders ranks third and it's the most active (and has people I already like).
I'm not even sure if KoP counts as an antagonist in this thread at this point! Rival, maybe.
Maybe. Varric is everyone's favorite. I consider him my personal viewpoint character in the story, more than Hawke. He's the one whose mannerisms and decisions I most identify with, anyway. I actually once spent a year explaining how life in our college dorm was a sit-com, and I was the main character... but me being the main character meant I couldn't make any actual progress in my life, because the main character always has to stay static for the weekly plot reset, in order to give viewers a consistent perspective on new events.
