Oh, if only in DA3 Nathaniel is a love interest, and then also either Varric or Sigrun. I'm not hoping for both, because Bioware keeps saying they're a little uncertain about Dwarf romances... but give me one of them! This whole "put 'em in one game to see if people want to romance 'em, then make them full-fledged romances" thing has worked so well for Tali, Garrus, and Anders... keep doing it!.

This. This. This. THIS.

I've always played female dwarves in rpgs/MMOs, so I have a real soft spot for them. (I can't seem to roll one in DA:O because zomg the Origin takes a century to complete, and not currently playing one in RIFT because I rolled the wrong side, but still, love em.)

I also admit to having very recently written hot Anders/Sigrun lovins.

Edited for ToP...I'm probably gonna screw this up ten times:

Edit #10: Forget it. Use your the power of your IMAGINAAAATION! </Spongebob>

Dear Evilnor, why were you not around the day when I was using Girl Genius references to illustrate all my points? Whyyyyyyy?

I dunno, I may have been at a convention also attended by Phil and Kaja Foglio and heard Kaja's response to the question "How much scientific background do you guys have?"  It subsequently went into my signature.

Man, that laugh she did was incredibly geeky . . . reminds me of nerdgasms I get at various inappropriate times while reading this thread.  You guys are the best!

Here, have a badly rendered anders, because my computer was trying to EAT ITSELF last night when I hit that point in DAA. I can run DA2 AND ME2 at the same time and it's like "BRING IT ON, MOOOORE" like a roid'head.. Try and play DA:O/A by itself though while on a mage playthrough with all the utter SODDING GLOW and my computer starts having a CPU attack ;p

Yeah, DA:O is a CPU hog on my system, too.  Almost always maxes out the processor, whereas DA2 doesn't come close.

Ok. For science! :o Yatta!

You guys are getting more out of my current summer break than I am the last couple days, I swear.

Thanks!  Now I imagine all the males in DA2 doing this:

And I CAN'T UNSEE THAT!!!

I should stop being weirded out by ads/music videos/things from Japan. That way it doesn't haunt me for a while.

My dad keeps asking me lately what I'm laughing at. All I can tell him is "it's this thread on the website for my game". xD

I understand pacfism and all, but....this is supposed to be an ad for Japan's self defense force?

How would North Koreans or the Chinese react to that? lol

Guys, please please don't make me write an essay about the Japanese military and its role in shaping the country's international relations. I need to... do things other than write essays for this board sometimes.

To sum up: the Japanese self defense force is what it is in a large part due to post WWII treaties that they never bothered to renegotiate, because they save Japan from having to invest too substantially in military infrastructure, and they tie Japan more deeply to the USA, because part of the deal is that the USA will help if Japan is attacked. So people don't have to be afraid of the Japanese military, instead Japan just points at the US military and says "be afraid of that, jerks."

This has been East Asian Studies Oversimplification Theatre.

Of course, I was joking. It's in article 9 of their Constitution.

Still, they can try to avoid having to look ridiculous in the process.

I didn't think YOU didn't know, KoP. I meant for the edification of anyone in the thread who was legitimately curious.

Also, I argue that looking harmless and cute is now a central tenet of Japanese culture, one that is actually deeply strategic in many ways while also being a strange offshoot of their traditional aesthetic principles.

And finally, you know they do that just to tempt foreign powers into trying something, because they've got a bunch of fifty-story robots just waiting, waiting for the perfect moment. Due to a shocking omission, there is NO clause in their constitution that limits the number of military-grade giant robots they are allowed to have.

One of these days there will be an internet capable of conveying jokes properly. :P

So about that Anders... He should make a series of dorky music videos supporting mage liberation.

That actually was more or less Red Alert 3's plot <_<

I was also sort of trying to be jokey and educational at the same time, a skill I have obviously yet to master.

Back on topic: Anders is proof positive that adorable harmless cuteness is the best disguise. Also: spicy shimmies.

And now I'm checking to see if there is any Anders doujin out there somewhere oh god people what have you done to me? Sadly, it looks like they didn't get DA:O until Jan of 2011, and haven't gotten Awakenings or DA2 yet, so chances are no.

He should have tried being cuter in DA2, with actual kittens and shimmies. No one would have been able to resist his manifesto.

Oh lordy I haven't read doujin since I was 13 and that wasn't even a very long time ago. I feel young and old at the same time.

I can easily imagine the mages making that sort of commercial, with Anders as lead dancer.

...

... This is now headcanon.

See, back when I lived in Japan I had no interest in doujin. Or rather, I bought a bunch of Slayers comedy doujin, mostly yonkoma and cute illustrations and joke comics. I would have bought LinaxZelgadis but I never found any. Other than that, I pretty much ignored the stuff, but my friend was a crazy collector, so we ended up spending HOURS in those stores.

After that I thought "well, living in that kind of proximity to it for a year did nothing for me, I guess I'm immune to doujin and slash."

Now, *cough-cough* years later, I'm always looking at fan art on tumblr and in this thread, and I'd buy a doujin if it were half as well drawn as most of the stuff here. So apparently I wasn't immune, I just hadn't found my drug of choice yet. And so times makes fools of us all!

That may explain why the Templars revolted. They may not have been able to resist the cuteness.

That or they went crazy and wanted to ebat the living heck out of them for makign such a video, against chantry's orders.

Those videos were terribly heretical, what with mages being happy.

@CGG, I never read crazy amounts of doujin or anything, but once and I while  I'd see one I couldn't resist and had to read.  My friends tended to buy that kind of stuff.  I went for dorky trinkets and plushies.  And shirts, I have too many shirts.
