Do you ever wonder if some of the BW people have fake accounts on here? That way they can totally geek out about their awesome creations without getting in trouble. Like maybe HighCastle is REALLY Gaider and Yami is ACTUALLY Hepler!
*Edit* Maybe Howden is SurelyForth!
I get to be Gaider?!?!

And about working for Bioware... well, seeing how I am once again unemployed... *sigh*
Not that I would move to the other side of the world. Not even for the best job in the world
Writing without a degree hardly gets you anywhere here though. Of course, I could go and write the next Twilight, but I do have half a brain and don't go weak at the knees all that easily (uh... forget about some exceptions

If I'm really Hepler, then judging by my posts recently, Varranders is canon.

You want a DLC I will run, not walk, to buy? (Metaphorically speaking, of course.)
A buddy adventure with Anders and Varric. Maybe it starts with a bar fight, then a quest, then they end up dungeon crawling together while discussing Bianca, staves, drinking, travel, Hawke, and sex. Oh, and there's phat lewtz at the end.
It should be -just them- too. And maybe Dog.
Edited to add: And there totally should be a conversation chain where Varric asks Anders about his origins, and should involve Anders, at first, refusing to admit if he knows any Ander at all. Then, randomly, he drops a phrase here and there, something silly, like, "I put the cheese in your sock." And then, there should be a random song.
Because Adam Howden needs a paycheck, and whoever Varric's VO is.
Morning all. *coffee*

To my knowledge, Bioware Austin is still currently hiring and require no previous game writing experience, just an understanding of Bioware-style storytelling and a kick-ass sample.
If you guys ever end up with a studio or sub-studio in northeast Florida, I would think I'd died and gone to heaven. I'd apply with a writing portfolio in a heartbeat, but with a family and house we plan to live out our lives in, moving to Edmonton or Austin just isn't an option.
But writing for a game development company would be a dream, for sure. Don't suppose there's ever any options for folks to contribute remotely or a work-from-home (due to living out-of-state) basis? Or freelance?

Hah! This thread is a monument to narcissism, then!
And I'm pretending like I didn't see that post from Jennifer about BW Austin hiring. I'm at a crossroads right now, I covet Austin and one of my good e-friends is moving there later this month. It feels like a sign even though I believe that's more the KotOR branch, and I certainly cannot write sci-fi.

If you're still reading this, I hope baby Hepler is happy and healthy, congratulations.
And yes! Any Anders dialogue makes me warm and fuzzy, and terribly excited. Roll on the 26th!!!

Can't is a dirty word, and Sci-Fi is just fantasy with a different set of boots on. Star Wars, especially. If you've at least seen all the movies and played KotOR (and if you haven't done either of those things, how are you on the internet?), it's pretty easy to adapt stories into the world. You've already got swords and "magic" in the form of jedi powers. All you have to do is replace ships with spaceships and give some people some guns. *dusts hands*
And now that I'm all caught up with the thread, I noticed you guys had a nice JAnders conversation while I was incapacitated... one that I definitely have things to say about. So maybe I'll do some of that this morning. Heh.

Erm. I haven't played KotOR. 9-9 Sniff. But I only got the 360 in March, and Dragon Age has devoured my soul.
But yes, really. And BioWare has a strong bent towards the characters themselves. An adventure is an adventure, and if you're just writing, well, it's not like you necessarily have to come up with the environments and technological details. Although I guess I don't know too much about it myself, maybe you would.
Which JAnders conversation would that be? The one that started with the question of whether Anders is possessed or not? Cuz you know we'll wanna hear that stuff from you.

This is exactly what I mean! I am sure many, many people at BioWare want to express their perverse love for Anders, Nanders, Mermanders, Varranders, and so on, but they cant for fear of screwing up the DA canon. So they have to create fake personas so they can squee and write about Anders doing crazy, crazy things without making the DA universe implode!
