I'm just not used to being around people who actually like Anders! :P

I've been lurking in this thread all day for this very reason! I'd been hearing horror stories about the other threads here, which made me very sad. Because I loved back in the DAO days, even though there was contention over Alistair vs. Zevran, there was no mass hatred about either character. I ADORE Anders. I never want to romance anyone else. Just... not interested.

Yeah in all seriousness..it's out of hand. I thought I caught crap when I spared Loghain...nothing compared to this. We Anders lovers must stick together!!

I tried to start the Fenris romance. When the hell does he sleep with you? I've done the personal quest and he just went away! Am I going to come home after the Anders' quest and find BOTH of them in my bedroom?? (not that I'd object). Oh, and I flirted with Isabela and she turned up in my living room and came onto me IN FRONT OF MY MUM. And then when I had sex with her I went downstairs and SEBASTIAN was there. PERVERT.

you either have to lock your door or tell your personell when it's an appropriate time to welcome visitors:blink:

lmao

Fen sleeps with you after you kill Hadriana in "A Bitter Pill."

Basically after he runs off go home and if you activated is romance he should be waiting for you. You can then choose to either pick the "don't go." which should initate the love scene or let him leave again (and go back home and he'll run up to youand you can initate the love scene then) slight differences.

He was there, but he didn't have sex with me. He just left. I didn't even get a "don't go" option, despite clicking on all the hearts I could. So if I go back home again now (I'm in the middle of Anders' personal quest now) he should be there? That'll be great timing. Go home, sleep with Fenris, go to the clinic, comfort distraught Anders over the almost killing thing with Fenris smell all over me, then initiate his love scene. Gorgeous.

How do I dump Fenris after he sleeps with me? (Totally only doing this to get the Fenris/Anders party banter BTW)

See, the thing is that romances like Anders are usually so NOT my thing in video games.  I like (relatively) functional romances whose issues are fixable or nonexistent.  I like Alistair, Garrus, Miranda--more dramatic romances like Thane or Bishop don't usually do it for me.  They usually make me feel like I'm hitting my head against a wall.

But Anders...Anders stole my heart with his adorable sad abomination eyes.  I know he's dangerous.  I know Hawke will never be first in his priorities, no matter how much he loves her.  And I don't care.

This is me too. I romanced Alistair and Garrus as well and thus was confused by my obsession with Anders. I have since given up trying to understand it and decided to just embrace the madness.

The tortured thing is usually not my cup of tea either, but it depends on the character. With Anders, it's the woobie face. And THE KISS. And the soulful, tortured eyes. And the way he's so tender and loving and honest about his feelings for you. And of all the love interests, he's the only one who's dedicated throughout to a cause greater than himself. Sure, he's a little crazy, but who in this party isn't? Besides Varric, who is the exception to all things :)

LOL you might've flirted with Andersa bit too much or didn't flirt with Fen at the right time.

You don't have to dump Fen. He dumps you. Just initate the romance scene with Anders and tell Anders that Fen dumped you. That's how I got the banter.

Varric would have been a relief amongst a group full of gits.

And Garrus was kinda tortured. He blamed himself for a lot of things. He just didn't whine about it all...the...damn...time.

I support the idea of Justice doing the techno turian dance. :D And blood mage Hawke/Warden controlling others to do the same.

I'm the opposite, except for Garrus being my favorite romance. xD All of my favorite characters have at least a little crazy in them. There's even a pattern in BioWare games that I don't like the romances in the first game but like them in the sequel. Garrus, Anders, Fenris, and Thane are the romances I like best (in that order).

It doesn't surprise me at all that my Dragon Age favorite is a possessed well-intentioned extremist with a blue glow who becomes a bit suicidal at the end of the game. *points to sig banners* Posted Image

See, I saw Garrus as pretty stable. He gets his vengeance on (har har) in his loyalty mission, but otherwise, he's good old Garrus in ME2. Still cracking jokes and such. Obviously hiding pain but not tortured in an unhinged way like Anders.

Yeah, but it was possible to HELP Garrus get over his problems.  There really is no fixing anybody in DA2.  You don't have the magical "I am the protagonist here to rescue you" powers that you do in most video games.  Like in real life, you have to accept these people, warts and all, and you can't just do a quest and make it go away.  It makes for a nice change of pace from SuperShepard and her super fixing powers.

I seriously think it's the eyes.  That's why Anders does it for me.  And the sweet--I'm a sucker for sweet, even if it's all crazy and tragic.

I'm going to try to do this too. The Fenris & Isabela thing, not the flirting too much. Actually, I'll probably do the exact same thing and end up flirting too much. Those hearts are just too hard to resist.

Pretty much my response to the whole affair.

Ahahahah, oh my, I go go to sleep laughing :°D

I was more "WTH, and NOW?!"

Today I just happened, completely casually, to watch some Awakening Anders videos on youtube. I didn't remember he was locked up in confinement for one whole year in the tower :( And it is sad to hear that he was lucky not to be raped in a banter with Sebastian.
The more I think about it, the more I believe you can't just blame him for what he did. It has been...like 15 years on the run, looking at mages in Ferelden and Kirkwall being abused. Not to mention his personal trauma. We don't see after all everything he has seen in Kirkwall helping mages escape with his "underground movement of freedom" ... Suppressing mages is clearly not a solution, it just increases the chances someone will use blood magic and deamons

I caught quite a bit of crap for sparing Loggy while in a romance with Alistair a few months ago..but it was nothing like this. Being called a terrorist supporter among other things, is a bit much. I think my biggest issue is most people I know were Alistair fangirls (as was I) and most of them have gone with Fenris..only a handful like Anders. So that probably has alot to do with it.
I hope the hate dies down...but frankly I don't care. People can hate him all they want, but insulting those that don't hate him is a bit much. I just like having a place full of people who like him as I do, where I don't have to be afraid to squee over him for fear of starting a fight.

I have no issues blaming mages for resorting to blood magic. I'm totally with Fenris (and Anders, really) on that particular subject, a lot of mages will use basically any excuse to do it, and that's unacceptable, and only further proves Mages Can't Have Nice Things. I am one of those people who draws a line in the sand, that there are things you Don't Do, no matter how screwed up stuff gets, and blood magic is one of those things. S'why I always give Merril such a hard time, even though she is adorable.

I'm not perfect, of course, blowing up a Chantry is also one of those things you Don't Do, but I have yet to murderknife Anders for it (I probably will on my current playthrough and be traumatized). First time, I just couldn't bring myself to make my LadyHawke knife her boyfriend after all she had already lost. Second time, my DudeHawke was more like "You are going to help me save these mages from YOUR stupid-ass decision making. We'll see what happens AFTER." I wish I had a dialogue option to reflect that, though.

you don't think there's any situation that you would sacrifice your own soul to keep from happening? Granted, turning to blood magic is like one of those Genies that end up twisting all your wishes into your own personal hell, but i can't help but wonder how much it takes before you would find yourself there willing to risk/trade it.

EDIT: lol, though maybe i just like to brood over extreme situations and what i would do in their place

I like to think that no, I wouldn't, for a couple of wanky philosophical reasons. But if I did, I think people would be perfectly justified in killing me for it and saying "THAT IS WHY YOU CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS." I don't like police states, but becoming exactly what said police state has been fussing about does not come anywhere near helping your cause.

Basically, apostate mages that leap immediately to blood magic the second they see a stranger come near them, stop helping the mage freedom cause. Because you aren't helping. That was the attitude my mage Hawke took, and I think it worked really well for him.

The sad part is that the Ferelden Circle is relatively liberal and reasonable compared to Kirkwall's.  Wynne turned out ok, as did my Amell Warden.  If even Greagior was cruel enough to lock up Anders in solitary for an entire year, imagine the things Meredith must be doing in Kirkwall's Circle of Magi.

My Shepards go the Renegade route. >:D Vengeance all the way.

And I wasn't saying Garrus is unstable. Anders is, but Garrus isn't. They don't always have to be unstable if they have a little crazy in them though. Look at Saren before Sovereign. Perfectly calm and collected when he's doing awesome things that could be considered crazy.
