@Kim that just makes you awesome.

That my favorite characters are all crazy, or that I seem to be BioWare's target customer? xD

Gonna go with the crazy thing! :P

U MAD GUYS

Found this on DeviantArt!

Troll!Anders is the best Anders.

Pretty much my response to the whole affair.

Ahahahah, oh my, I go go to sleep laughing :°D

I was more "WTH, and NOW?!"

Today I just happened, completely casually, to watch some Awakening Anders videos on youtube. I didn't remember he was locked up in confinement for one whole year in the tower :( And it is sad to hear that he was lucky not to be raped in a banter with Sebastian.
The more I think about it, the more I believe you can't just blame him for what he did. It has been...like 15 years on the run, looking at mages in Ferelden and Kirkwall being abused. Not to mention his personal trauma. We don't see after all everything he has seen in Kirkwall helping mages escape with his "underground movement of freedom" ... Suppressing mages is clearly not a solution, it just increases the chances someone will use blood magic and deamons

I find that the best way to look at characters in this game is try to avoid assigning blame. It doesn't do any good.

Everything is like a disease, a metaphor I was happy to see the Arishok use. Obviously, everyone has choices, but if your world view is skewed and dragged down by awful events, those choices start feeling a lot less like choices.

Anders has seen an awful lot. As you pointed out, there's the solitary confinement. There's circle life in general. There's the loss of Karl, a possible loved one. There's the threat of being made tranquil hanging over his head. There's all the blood and death and disease of working with refugees, with apostates.

He did what he did. But no one acts alone. And no one acts in a vacuum.

Yeah in all seriousness..it's out of hand. I thought I caught crap when I spared Loghain...nothing compared to this. We Anders lovers must stick together!!

Wasn't that relatively not all that long ago? I think the Anders hatred will die down the more time passes.

I caught quite a bit of crap for sparing Loggy while in a romance with Alistair a few months ago..but it was nothing like this. Being called a terrorist supporter among other things, is a bit much. I think my biggest issue is most people I know were Alistair fangirls (as was I) and most of them have gone with Fenris..only a handful like Anders. So that probably has alot to do with it.
I hope the hate dies down...but frankly I don't care. People can hate him all they want, but insulting those that don't hate him is a bit much. I just like having a place full of people who like him as I do, where I don't have to be afraid to squee over him for fear of starting a fight.

You forgot about the battered wife syndrome! :wizard:

I tried to start the Fenris romance. When the hell does he sleep with you? I've done the personal quest and he just went away! Am I going to come home after the Anders' quest and find BOTH of them in my bedroom?? (not that I'd object). Oh, and I flirted with Isabela and she turned up in my living room and came onto me IN FRONT OF MY MUM. And then when I had sex with her I went downstairs and SEBASTIAN was there. PERVERT.

Hahaha, lol at Sebastian. "WHY HELLO THERE"

My Shepards go the Renegade route. >:D Vengeance all the way.

And I wasn't saying Garrus is unstable. Anders is, but Garrus isn't. They don't always have to be unstable if they have a little crazy in them though. Look at Saren before Sovereign. Perfectly calm and collected when he's doing awesome things that could be considered crazy.

Yeah, I was responding to something else I think, not something you said when I was talking about Garrus being stable. But yes, Garrus has a bit of crazy in him in his own special way, more so if you Renegade him. I was just more puzzled because my Paragon Garrus and Anders don't seem to quite mesh in my mind.

I love them both..I just wasn't on the forums much for my first playthrough which was when I romanced Anders. Now I'm on my 3rd, and it's Fenris rival, next is Anders Rival. Then I am done until they fix the import issues with the LI's by patch or by mod. Because I'm no way importing any of my Wardens that I really enjoyed just to have the import messed up.

@Miri:  For Fenris to show up and have sex with you, you have to finish his "Questioning Beliefs" thing in Act 2.  That was giving me hella trouble, too.  If you do Questioning Beliefs BEFORE A Bitter Pill, then you get the "Don't Go" option and the glowy wall kiss when he shows up at the mansion after the mission.  If you do Questioning Beliefs afterwards, he'll just randomly pop up at the estate.  You probably haven't messed it up; it can just be a little weird to figure out.

Even the glowy wall kiss had NOTHING on Anders's clinic kiss-attack, though.  IMHO, of course.

@cmessaz:  That depends what you're importing.  My Queen Cousland imported perfectly fine.  Alistair and the Codexes acknowledge their marriage.  (Although Nathaniel seems to think the Architect is still around, but whatever.)  None of my other imports have worked quite right, though.  I think.  I didn't get any Alistair romance nods for my human mistress (if he's king) or my city elf who stayed with him in the Wardens.

I was an Alistair girl in DAO. Totally. And I fell for Anders hardcore. I'm not even interested in Fenris.

I think the hatred will die down eventually, too, although it's sad that it's extending to supporters. I'm enjoying this thread totally for the squee, I'm skimming the moral arguments, or ignoring them completely. I find my experience is better that way :)

Me toooo. I loved at the end of one of the quests (in Act 3?) she kisses you. Not a kiss kiss, but still ! I had to stop and replay that scene again.

And also, I wish I'd saved at this point somewhere because I can't remember where it was... but when I flirted with Aveline and had Anders in the party, he made a snarky/jealous comment. Something like he shouldn't be there, or he was in the way. <3 Wish I could remember the exact wording & place!

You only get the manic dialogue post-"Justice" if you're not yet eligible for the end-stage approval dialogue. So, you need to not be at 100% friend or rival and talk to him after "Justice," to get to see him go crazy-manic.

hmm weird I was at 100% rivalry in act 1 lol. But I got the crazy manic dialogue in Act 3. This thread moves sooo fast, I know this was pages ago, but while I was asleep this thread has grown about 20 pages.

Aww, that's awesome!  I always thought it was weird that your LI would never comment when you flirted with other people like crazy.  Yes, Anders stepped in to snark at Zevran once Zev propositioned me, but he didn't seem to mind Hawke calling Zev handsome and being quite forward herself.

They do both have a strong sense of justice and want to change people's lives for the better. But Anders' character in DA2 is much darker than Garrus.

Ah ok, I've only imported my human mage who was Redeemer and Alistair obviously left, so no romance, and myQueen Cousland. I just imported my Amell US, so we'll see how that goes.

Would you believe I still haven't gotten to see Nate?

I think I'm one of the only fangirls who was never into Alistair. I was so utterly, completely meh about the whole thing. I thought Zevran was fantastic, though. And then, of course, I dropped him in the blink of an eye for Anders when Awakening came out.
In the Aveline quest where you try and get her together with the guardsman I think my Hawke could have killed Anders. He makes a comment about life being too short and Aveline needing to get him alone in a room... All Malina could think was "and you won't even KISS me yet WHY?"

Poor Garrus. I really like him but ... dude doesn't have lips. And those teeth scare me. So he's stuck in the Friend Zone. He should totally go hang out with Friend Zone Turian.

I figured being an apostate all her life and losing everyone, it was time to fight the good fight!

What is crazy manic dialogue?

Is it when Justice bursts out?

If so I too got that at full rivalry.

And then he tells Donnic to "just kiss her already!".   He later takes his own advice, apparently.
