Random comment: Anders's haircut is my favorite haircut on a guy. <3 The half-ponytail. Though maybe a little longer than they have it on him. :3

Like Xanatos'?

Well Xanatos has a full ponytail. I mean when just the top half of the hair is bound. Like, I like this character:
Posted Image Except I like other pictures of him better, but I can't find any I want to post. :B And the bangs can be there or not.

If Anders didn't cut his hair for a couple months it'd be about perfect.

I've noticed that most fanart of him has his hair longer than it is in-game, which is totally cool with me.

I also still don't know what Flemeth is. Some have suggested she's an abomination like Anders, but I don't see it. She seems... to much one thing. There's also the theory that she's the Dread Wolf, but the Wolf was not a friend to the Dalish, and Flemeth seems to like and trust them. Maybe she softened over the centuries. She could also be just a dragon, but one uncorrupted by the taint somehow. At this point, I don't even bother to kill her in DA:O playthroughs. Things are more interesting if she looks kindly upon my Warden, too.

I've read one suggestion saying that she is Dumat/Dumat-reborn-as-Andraste. Mostly because Andraste with her amazing superpowers came exactly 26 years after Dumat was slain. Which... I don't know. As likely an explanation as any, I suppose.

Prior to Witch Hunt, my opinion was that Flemeth was a symbiotic mage/spirit hybrid like Wynne, mostly because she was described by Morrigan as an abomination, but didn't act like any sort of demon we had encountered.  But in Witch Hunt, Morrigan tells us she's not even human, so I'm leaning to something otherworldly now.  Of course, Morrigan may be wrong or lying...

It just occurred to me that she says that Flemeth isn't human--she could have been elven originally (perhaps fused with one of the elven gods?) or even simply be an ancient elf.  Remember that the elves are said to have been immortal at one time.  It would explain why Morrigan is able to work with the Eluvian.

However. I'm a little curious about the underground city that Tamlen mentioned - at first I thought it was part of the Deep Roads, since the caves become filled with darkspawn, but now I wonder. Arlathan was sunken into the ground, wasn't it? Could that be it? And why are the Mirrors filled with the Taint once they break? Perhaps there is a connection there. Between Arlathan and its Mirror and the creation of darkspawn, since it was in the Deep Roads they were first encountered.

I was wondering about the thaig that you investigate in Witch Hunt where the elves went to stay with the dwarves.  It makes sense to me that they would have taken one of the eluvians down with them.  But the one that Merrill has filled with taint before it was broken--Duncan broke it after Tamlen got sucked into it, after all.  I wonder if Morrigan figured out how to cleanse the one she used or if they are not all interconnected but certain mirrors connect to each other and other share a separate network.

Duncan said that, over time the Mirrors simply break and become filled with the same taint that the darkspawn carry. So I assumed that the Mirror was "broken" the same way a mechanism is broken - meaning, it stopped working correctly. And not as in the glass of the Mirror itself being cracked to pieces. Which makes me wonder - do the eluvians simply spread the taint that is in the Deep Roads already, or was it an eluvian itself that was the original source of the taint inside the Deep Roads? Perhaps the original "broken" mirror accessed some kind of crazy hell-dimension where the darkspawn live and let them loose into the Deep Roads.

Ah. I understand what you meant, now. I do find it strange that Morrigan would know how to cleanse one, though, and get it to work again. Maxernst makes an interesting suggestion about Flemeth that would explain that one pretty neatly. Of course, if they ARE linked to the Black City it would make sense that they eventually fill with the taint as the magic/mechanism that keeps them linked wears out or simply falls apart.

And thus the Witcher was rendered 100,000 times as interesting, and voiced in one swoop.

You know, I love me some Anders, but I'm not sure if I want to read nearly 2000 pages to catch up on all this. XD I avoided this thread for awhile because I've heard that it got a bit scary in here~ Though, I've decided that I am okay with this.

It depends on your definition of scary. There is sometimes some... sparklebutt, yes. But that's just to break the tension created by pages and pages of passionate debate over moral relativism and pie. I didn't read all the archives before jumping in and you don't need to either. The arguments here come in waves.

Now, back to the subjects at hand, which are actually a pretty good sample of the kind of stuff we usually get up to.
For me the ideal haircut is actually Fenris's. It's what we call 'floppy boy hair' in my neck of the woods, though Anders' haircut is also very attractive. I don't think he could rock the Fenris 'do either; it's too boyish for him, Anders' face is more suited for the long, clean lines of longer hair or of the ponytail.

As for Flemeth, if she ends up being associated with the elves I will explode with glee. I don't think it's likely, because it would totally justify my horibly skewed elveselveselves! perspective. Right now I'm assuming she's just a Baba Yaga type, simply an immensely powerful and old witch who, with her lifespan and power, has become something more or greater than human. I think she may be related to whatever old gods became the Archdemons... but whether those are the Elven Dark Pantheon, or some new third set of gods of which we were previously unaware, I cannot guess.

I still wonder whether Vengeance being one of the key gods of the elven pantheon is just a horrible coincidence or not. I'd prefer it to be actually significant and not just a clever excuse to have my Dalish wardens not be terrified of him, but that would be a mighty obscure bit of lore to reference.

I didn't bother going through it either. ;3 Though I was lurking for a month or so before I even made a BSN account. lulz. Mostly because I was googling questions about DA2 characters and kept getting links to the forum. XD

So if you had any particular type of subject to discuss, you could go that route.

Hoooooowever... Don't be afraid to bring something up just because it may have been discussed already. I think some of the regulars forget that newcomers don't know everyone's opinions yet. And sometimes you'll get the "oh crap not this again", but they're all a cool bunch here. ;) Since I became active I can hardly stay away. @___@ I actually hope I haven't become too annoying sometimes hahaha

@Fluffenstein: I wouldn't call this place scary. Silly? By all means (at times). But not scary. We tend to be a pretty tolerant bunch most of the time (except if I happen to be jetlagging from a trans-Atlantic flight, but that's neither here nor there). If you're interested in catching up on the general consensus and some popular memes, you should consider checking out the awesome FAQ linked on the very first post in the thread. Welcome to the jungle baby!

lol I dislike this, Anders is no where near as badass. But still well done.

And I've been watching my brother playing for the first time, and something came to my attention. Anders says that "Justice and Vengeance are too intertwined" and he can't tell one from the other.

That makes it even more confusing. I am starting to think that JAnders is very similar to Warcraft's Lich King. The latter is a merger of Arthas and Nerzhul, and that merger created a third entity, the Lich King, that suppressed both Arthas and Nerzhul. So I am thinking that Vengeance as a third independent entity was formed out of Anders and Justice merging, and by Act 3, he's assuming control.

Awww I am shamed by your praise because that is actually... a lazy job. I could have fiddled with the shape/angle of his face a little more. And I could have adjusted the color balance to match the rest of the image better. But hey. XD If it doesn't look at least a LITTLE goofy/slipshod... Where's the fun?

assuming direct control?

but, no, i disagree, at least with the last bit. on the rivalry path i could easily buy this, but on the friend path anders is very much sure of himself and has no blackouts. his act 3 speeches are given from a position of unity. that's kind of the point of friend vs rivalry path with anders anyway.
