I'm just curious, how many of you Ander's fans think the most appropriate sort of "ending" to DA2 is playing a Mage who romanced Anders?
what perfect timing por moi
there's obviously no canon outside of what bioware sets in the sequel, certainly not to romance or class, but that said, i tend to believe that since anders is the most dynamic character in terms of choice and the love interest most tied to the overarching plot, romancing him on a first runthrough is, to me, the ideal way to experience the game.
before anyone jumps on my ****, let me explain:
i spent a few hours in a general thread arguing with people about the choice-consequence of da2 vs dao, because my position is that there is
more in da2, just that it is largely companion-based and more nuanced. the greatest example of this is anders friend/rivalry path dichotomy -- he essentially becomes a different person depending on a series of consistent player choices. if romanced, you spend more time with him, probably become much more emotionally invested in him.
furthermore, the entirety of act 3 is a deconstruction of the traditional bioware rpg chosen-hero-makes-decisions-saves-world narrative, but that escapes a lot of people, and romancing anders, where there is a simultaneous deconstruction (this time of sappy romances) sort of nails the point home.
so yeah, i think anders' emotional arc and hawke's narrative arc flow brilliantly together and sort of feel made for each other. it's my preferred ending and i think, story-wise, it's the most appropriate.
as far as mage goes, well, promo hawke is mage hawke, but it doesn't really make a difference in-game so w/e
