Yeah, that's the one.  The only people who have gotten it seems to be people that went rivalry or didn't have 100% either way at that point. I still haven't had anyone who went friendship romance say they got it, which is why I had asked the question in the first place.

Odd.

That said I don't recall getting it on the friendship path either. But Anders is so easy to max out that I've never had him in the middle by Act 3.

Though I kind of understand why it would trigger with full rivalry seeing as the emotional whirlwind Hawke constantly bombards him with.

Although, now I don't know what to make of Ms. Hepler's explanation on the matter. Maybe it's a bug?

Most likely.

Though it oddly fit with how the last convo I had with him occured (well before The Last Straw). At least on the rivalry path.

Just a heads up for those who want to bang Fenris and Isabela and Anders, I found that flirting with/sleeping with Isabela before doing Fenris' personal quests will ruin your chances with Fenris.

Also, I would recommend telling him to go the first time, so he shows up later all angsty. No glowy kiss, but I like the animation better and he's pretty damn sexy when he's "I've been thinking about you. In fact, I've been able to think of little else."

@Miri and Sebastian is ALWAYS at the estate after sex with Isabela. I think he's secretly hoping for an invite, or a quick peek (since the door is more than likely wide open).

CHASTE MY ARSE!!!

He just goes back to the Chantry afterwards for a bit of self-flagellation.

You only get the manic dialogue post-"Justice" if you're not yet eligible for the end-stage approval dialogue. So, you need to not be at 100% friend or rival and talk to him after "Justice," to get to see him go crazy-manic.
hmm weird I was at 100% rivalry in act 1 lol. But I got the crazy manic dialogue in Act 3. This thread moves sooo fast, I know this was pages ago, but while I was asleep this thread has grown about 20 pages.
What is crazy manic dialogue?

Is it when Justice bursts out?

If so I too got that at full rivalry.
It's the one, post-"Justice" quest where he gets all excited/crazy/happy about having placed the bomb. He talks about feeling a happiness greater than mortals feel or something equally crazy sounding. I never got it in the friendship path, but a few people have since posted that they got it despite being 100% rival.
Is this what you're talking about?

I had a 100% rivalry at this point.
Ach it really disturbs me that you seem to witness different fragments of Anders'character depending on gender and class and approach but never in the same game. So I have to wonder - are they all true about him or is it like every different version of your character exists in an alternate universe where anders is also different depending on who you are?

Hello my name is Melca and my character let Anders go and ran off with him.

I figured being an apostate all her life and losing everyone, it was time to fight the good fight!

Hello Melca! I'm Gail and i let anders go and follwed him to fight the good fight too

lol, does this now make this the place for our AA meetings?

Yes, I guess this is the place. :D

I just saw no point in my character remaining in Kirkwall when she sided with mages. While she will always consider Varric and Isabela friends, she lost so much and all the years of being an apostate and hiding her abilities took their toll on her.

People need to stop using mages for healing, etc if they fear them so much.

And the Grand Cleric is not innoccent. She KNEW what would happen to Patrice.

So my character ran off with him. That doesn't mean I will do all my characters that way, I just know for this character, it was the **RIGHT** thing to do.

Yeah, it made sense in the rivalmance to me, but now I wonder if it's a bug? I dunno. I suppose I'll just stick to the theory of under 100% either way or rivalry. Because my husband told me he got that speech and he wasn't at 100% friendship.

I used the save generator for my queen cousland import and got "ball and chain" which may be cute for a political marriage but rather sucks for a romance. If it's actually intended then  I get it, it's "locker room humor" ha. ha. friggin ha.

I personally liked the "ball and chain" quote; I thought it was kinda cute.  But as I've said before, I played Social Distortion's "Ball and Chain" at my own wedding reception, so I guess I have a weird sense of humor about these things.    It's slight vengeance for Anders and Cousland giggling together and calling Alistair a "ball and chain" in Awakening, at least.

Was this an extra conversation in the romance? Did you refuse to help him with the Chantry or does the Rivalmance have an extra scene or is there a scene that plays different for friendly.

ahem, what I'm trying to say here is what instigates this cut scene, lol

Does anyone know what happens if you choose the 'can't you see Donnic isn't right for you' option when Donnic's standing right there?

You mean what does Donnic say? Or what does romanced Anders say?

If I recall correctly, Donnic's reaction is the same as with other choices, him asking what's going on.

I helped him and it just triggeredon its on.

Apparenty if your friend meter is maxed out it doesn't trigger.

I don't think it's supposed to trigger for maxed out rivalry eiher. Still does though.

YUKI YOU WIN THE INTERNET.

RE: the crazy convo - this reinforces my opinion that he needs your support in order to not be completely bonkers. *shudders*. It would make sense for it not to trigger on the 100% paths for both sides, although I do think the rivalry path makes him more crazy. Or seem more crazy. Crazypants aren't so crazypants when there's more than one person wearing them.

According to Ms. Hepler, it is supposed to trigger post-"Justice" quest if he is not at 100% friendship or rivalry. However, it seems to still show up for people who have 100% rivalry and are romancing him, but not people at 100% friendship and are romancing him.

It is either a bug, or it's supposed to happen this way. Although, I love extra dialogue, it makes me unhappy, so I was glad not to get it in the friendship romance.

I'm pretty sure rivalmancing him makes him go crazier. If you've seen what happens in a rivalmance, you'd understand why. It's all pretty awful.

Not exactly. Rivalmancing doesn't make him crazier.

It's supposed to trigger on both paths (and not when either path is maxed) so it can't just be rivalry.

Probably is tied to you helping him with Justice quest.

This I'm not sure about. That's why I figured it was rivalry specific because it seemed to fit that route more.

Anyhoo, I am off to bed. I'm sure I'll wake up to a million new pages. Have fun you wonderful, crazy people.

Anders is really the worst secret keeper in the world. "The clock is ticking! It will strike midnight soon! Or 00...if you know what I mean! Itotallyplantedabomb." I bet he leaves little memos around the house like "Remember: Red vial is to disarm the bomb, blue vial is to make it seem like the bomb is disarmed. Green vial is pine scent, to mask that crumbled masonry and death stench."
