I don't have Seb, which based on most of what I've seen (videos/dialogue/etc) I'm sort of glad about. I think he would drive me nuts. And I'd have to smack him across the face for threatening to "come back to kirkwall with my huge army" after I let Anders live. Which doesn't even make any sense...considering we all got the hell out of town.

and, spoke too soon...friendly concerns triggered! yay.

sebastian is actually a pretty interesting character. well, interesting in his boringness. he's infuriating as a person, but he's a character archetype that i've not really seen before in a videogame, a sort of 15 year-old in youth group praying for change but incredibly waffling and hypocritical. he's a little ******, but an fascinating ******. plus, his second quest is fairly important to the plot.

...it helps that the anguish and pain of attractive fictional men sustains me, and i love his little 'I'LL GET YOUR PRECIOUS ANDERS' speech.

edit: HMMMMMMMM how bout this

HAH! yes, I had already seen that part of the DLC. That is so funny. "Hawke, I didn't mean to expose to you this."

Wow, um, Seb, you REALLY wouldn't want to know what me and Anders are doing behind closed doors....

Haha, I know he was MUCH lighter in Awakenings and joked more. I guess he just flirted a lot, so it was pretty obvious he wasn't a saint?

He had to wait for Hawke, it's his true love. I suppose your Warden Amell will be a bit ticked off when she discovers her cousin stole him with relative ease :)

His flirting with Velanna, the prickly anti-human dalish elf is to die for,
Anders: you said you find most humans repulsive...
Velanna: I was being polite, I meant you
Ander: this is one of those love/hate things isn't it?
Oh awakening Anders and his trololololo

he doesn't so much flirt with Sigrun but his banters with her are hilairious, like her trying to get him to do some magic and this one:
Sigrun: We're not the Legion of Jaunty Pub Songs.
Anders: But think how much easier recruitment would be if you were!
I love that you can almost hear the grin on his face as he says it

.....by the creators I miss impish/LOL Anders

He doesn't actually "move in" until Act III.

Then he forever stands above the balcony looking at Bodahn and Sandal.

Lmao, okay I seriously have to ask how many of us Don't have a ho-hawke who romances izzy, fenris, and Anders?? Its like, everyone does it at least once >.< why are we so horrible.

Of course for me I did izzy (everyone else does) and then fenris, then when he leaves I seek solace in Anders then can't go through with it. So I totally keep fenris, lol. Still, who doesn't have that scumbag hawke who beds everyone? Its like a blonde hawke... everyone has to have at least one!

I missed the last unicorn posts a few pages back, but I absolutely adore that movie and that book. My favorite as a kid. Other good examples of sacrifice love/self for cause are hard to find indeed. Mostly people sacrifice their lives but not their love.

I had one that went for Fenris then moved on to Anders just to see what happened.

Haven't had a Hawke that plowed through all 4 yet.

LOL, WTF. I am laughing so hard. I told Merrill I wouldn't give her the arulin'holm just to see what she would say, and I gained 175 rivalry points. Wow. That is...awesome...

And what?!! You're saying my Hawke is a scumbag?! :( This is going to my "actual" playthrough, and I slept with them all! I'M NOT A HO, I PROMISE!!

I don't have a merril-mance yet. A Hawke romance inventory:

Lir - Fenris then Anders. My Hawkes have a pattern of preferring Fenris at first but moving on after he leaves.
Garret - Just Fenris. Monogamous old queen.
Crow - Izzy, Fenris, Anders. Actually chose not to do Merril - the potential for fun was outweighed by the potential for Izzy and Varic to be upset with her.
Esk - Was intended to be an Anders romance, might end up romancing Izzy while being bros with Anders.

I honestly don't think the "IFA hat trick" Hawkes are necessarily ****s. Three different people in seven years isn't that bad of a track record, and I mentally like to space them out more. Isabella is headcanon'd in as a first act romance for me if you do only her hookup, and then I mentally put Fenris at the very beginning of Act 2, with Anders nearer to the end.

I did Fenris, then Izzy, and then found love with Anders. Isabela was more like...just for fun, I feel like she is sort of my best friend in the game lol so I almost don't even count it since it's well...Isabela. I also do agree, I space it out longer in my head too (since they all have to happen during act 2 >.<) but it is over the course of many years so it's not too bad.

And then I just absolutely love the fact that I drag all 3 of them around together with me. And Anders is like HAH, you suck Fenris!

"You were an idiot to leave Hawke!" "AND YOU WERE QUICK ENOUGH TO REPLACE ME" "I love her...you don't even know what that means!" "Do not bare your heart to me, MAGE, unless you would have me rip it out."
Then good old Izzy..."Oh, would you two GET OVER yourselves...I did her too! :D" Best banter, ever.

Oh, and I'm going to be honest...I have no idea what "IFA Hat Trick" means.

It always looks to me like he's staring at the chandelier or something.  Maybe he's contemplating how Sandal could jump high enough to swing on it?  Why's such a tall guy got to look up all the time?

Hawke: Oh for the...fine. But...stay over there. You stink, and I think you're about to lose your left ear again.

Corpse!Anders: *totally plans on inching his way towards Hawke through the night for a stealth cuddle*

This is so cute - probably cuter than it should be. *snuggles Corpse!Anders*
Although this might be because if Hawkette did mardarknife Anders she'd totally lug his corpse around with her.

And what's wrong with blonde Hawkes? - My canon Hawkette is blonde, and she's awesome. Posted Image
And what's wrong with Hawkes that have multiple relationships (that always end up with Anders Posted Image)?  I get a bit uncomfortable with the language that surrounds sexually active people. (And four possible "relationships" in 7 years plus possible excursions to the Blooming Rose hardly strikes me as terribly active). It's almost always worded negatively and that makes me terribly sad. I really liked that it was possible to explore the different physical relationships, and then decide whether or not you wanted to pursue a romantic one. It struck me as far more realistic (which is a word I keep using for elements of this game - BW, I salute you) than having to pin a ribbon on your favourite character and then pursue them and only them as you have to do in other games.

EDIT - And I kind of love Sebastian because he infuriates me. He pushes all of my buttons, he's so sincere whilst being such a sanctimonious prat. And if a character can wind me up that much, that's got to be some good writing there. I can't wait to see what they do with his story post game - although I do wish there was an option to pre-emptively strike him down.

I meant no offense at all by my words. For me, the promiscuous people in da are isabela and zevran. The feeling about hawke sleeping with everyone just reads to me like the soap opera effect. Your dealing with a group of people who are constant companions. No matter how you space it out you still end up having sex with all your companions. That just seems a little scumbagish. You sleep with one, still hang out with them then move onto another, then move on to another. You hurt fenris, you hurt Anders, hell you hurt everyone except isabela. That is where scumbag came from, honestly. Its like being the town heartbreaker but then your all smiles let's be friends like nothing happened.

Don't care to fling insults at all. I don't care how people choose to play their hawkes. Blonde hawkes are awesome that's why everyone should have one :P.

Seriously though. If you bed 4 of your companions you can only choose one. That leaves a lot of hurt people in hawke's wake. People hawke still has to be around quite often.

I've just kinda got to wonder what Sebastian does if you never recruit him at all?  Canonically, sure, he can be there when the chantry goes boom, but does he know who did it?  Without his connection to Hawke, does he really even know who to pursue?

I sorta imagine he lays the blame at Hawke's feet because to him Anders would be more of a nobody (probably the view of most of the people who hear the story, judging by Cassandra).  He would then go back to Starkhaven, dodging assassins along the way and either get himself killed or snatch back his crown to officially make Starkhaven pro-templar.  Since its Circle burned down, it's probably been leaning that way for years.  If successful, he would then start searching for hints and clues about Hawke's whereabouts and hunt him/her mercilessly with an army behind him, irresponsibly leaving his city with minimal protection in the event of a hostile invasion (Qunari, Nevarra, etc.)

Anyway, that strikes me as plausible, considering what limited knowledge of his character I have.

Well. I did Fenris and Isabela. Isabela didn't have any problems
with it, heck we are probably closer now since that's just Isabela's style of saying heeey! Fenris just sort of happened out of nowhere, and the guy DID leave me...so really the only tension it would be causing is between Hawke/Fenris & Anders since that's ultimately who I ended up with. Bedding Merrill or Anders after they tell you they really have feelings for you and then just ditching them is the douche move IMO, vs getting with Isabela for fun and then moving on after Fenris completely ditches you (extremely cryptically by the way. He's just like oh...I can't then later tells Anders in party banter that it's over lol) the reason I didn't really want to do it is bc I feel the same, it's like getting involved with all these people who, yes, are your friends but who you sort of.."work" with. Whether on odd jobs or saving the world! So yah it's not something I really would ever usually do, even in a game...but I like the dynamic of the whole Hawke/Fenris/Anders thing...and well Isabela..I just wanted her new clothes haha.

So, no offense, but your characters are scumbags. And no insult flinging. Got it.

Not for nothing, but I've had the same group of friends for over 20 years. During that time, I've dated 5 or 6 of them (one was kind of just a fling that kind of happened by accident and neither of us ever wanted it to turn into an actual relationship, so I'm not sure if it counts). And nobody gets terribly upset about it because, except for the couple who has been married the entire time, everyone else has done the same thing. It could be that my friends are all amoral scumbags, but I think it's far more likely that they're mature people who value an ongoing friendship more than they are hurt by the temporary sting of a break-up. I'm not saying that there were never any parties where one of us didn't avoid another because of hurt feelings, but if everyone was open and honest for the reasons for the break-up (usually, it just wasn't working out, which both parties usually know, even if they don't want it to be that way), everything passes in time. As one of my "bros" said while introducing his ex-wife and her new husband to a stranger. "This is So-and-so, my ex, and her husband WhosIt, my best friend." The stranger thought he was joking, at first, but no, he was completely serious.

TL;DR: People are friends and companions because they care about each other. When all is said and done, that friendship is worth preserving, even if it means a few days or weeks of awkwardness.

Oh, and regarding Isabela, I always assumed that if your Hawke was interested in accepting her invitation to go up to her room after Fools Rush In, it totally happened. It just happened off screen. Or if it didn't happen, Hawke just smiled awkwardly and pretended not to hear anything.

There are plenty of people who do this. As I said, isabela is the only one you don't hurt. Fenris leaves you, but he still cares about hawke for a long time... well, until act 3 when he gets over it and moves on with izzy. Anderstians move onto Anders and often do fenris and isabela too from what I've seen. It is a common triad.

For me I go to Anders, but chicken out and so fall back to fenris. That's me though. I have waaaay different views of the Anders romance than other Anders fans. I like Anders but I keep him at arms length. I also will hurt him, but he has his cause so he doesn't miss me much.
