Haha, really? Nah this person is pretty young, and simply isn't smart enough to write even half as well as you do. *cough* Not to be making disparaging comments about people I barely know, mind you. I'm sure she's a... lovely girl.

I've become so in love with DA2...or...Anders.. I almost want to write fanfiction. My writing always seems quite terrible to me though, but I'm generally pretty critical of my work.

I can't really imagine Anders driving. Seems strange to me. I can, however, imagine him seducing poor unsuspecting women under false pretenses to drive him to Hawke's home.

And here I thought the radio would be his HAM radio so he can listen to the static for propoganda from "the man" while Hawke's trying to get him out of the house to go to concerts and stuff.  He'd totally be a conspiracy theorist like Mel Gibson.  Someone needs to photoshop Anders in a tinfoil hat.

That is seriously not funny.

I wonder if sales will tank or increase from morons buying it for sh*ts and sniggers.

...That just pisses me off. Seriously. If he twisted a video game, it was no one's fault but his own. That is such a bull**** article.

Also, I hate journalists that ALWAYS bring up video games as a source of "violence". It's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Having played all those games myself... It's just shoddy journalism to me. The correlation is so weak. I mean, sure I can see it. Big whoop, he played a Mage in WoW.

Sad thing is, they will more than likely increase if the game gets publicity. People will want to play it. Our society is sort of effed up like that. Not that the game is bad, but some reasons for buying it if this is publicized more highly will be lol.

I have a mage in WoW! And I shoot and knife people in Call of Duty /at the same time/. I also stick aliens with pulsing blue grenades and laugh as they fly away screaming :3

The irony is that video game Anders and the "real" Anders, only share superficial similarities, in both their act and what they believe in.

I might think video game Anders is a fool, but he is not that much of a murdering scum.

Definitely superficial, and I'm sure it didn't inspire him at all. Kind of burns anyway. Like the feeling I get from knowing a person I really hate liking DA2. Like, how dare you soil this thing I love with your attention. >.<*

Adam Howden tweeted a few hours ago that if it turned out this guy played DA2 that he'd be mortified. :B

Yeah I know it doesn't mean much but. XP Bleh.

ETA::
The "video games make people violent" is so obnoxious, and this is going to just fuel that. It's just an easy outlet for people who have violent tendencies to live out fantasies and desires. I know I like violent movies (eg: the last fight scene in V for Vendetta I find very appealing), and I love God of War for the bloody splooshing, but I am not a violent person. Sometimes if I'm manic or if something really upsets me I wanna break things, but I'd never ever hurt someone.

Our Anders was filled with great compassion and a drive to set mages free, not impose beliefs on anyone. (Aside from the belief that mages should not be locked up and abused.)

I feel the same way. I'm not trying to justify the actions that Anders took in DA2, but there is such a difference. He did kill some innocents, yes, though we'll never really know the exact amount but I never thought it looked like that many people were in the church...not sure if there were any killed from the blast though. But regardless, it just makes no sense. Their world is entirely different than ours, and we aren't actively enslaving people for being born a certain way.

And regardless of all that, like I said before, it's just bull**** journalism. I was a shadow priest in WoW, I don't get to melt people's faces off in real life.

In the end its A WORK OF FICTION.

Elthina was only a collection of pixels, texture maps, lines of code, and sound files.
The Chantry was only an area in game, with textures for walls, and NPCs in it.

IRL what happened in Oslo was about REAL PEOPLE.

There is no comparing the two.

I'm sure he was all like, "Hey this guy shares my name, and he wants to blow **** up too! Cool! What a coincidence!"

Ugh speaking of manic I am definitely not in the state to be communicating on an open online forum right now. This has made me irrational. And it's 1am so I'm going to leave you folks and go to bed.

I'm a little late to the vehicle conversation, but I just have to add that I think Anders would ride a baby blue Vespa, with a top speed of 39mph, and with gas mileage of like, 70 miles to the gallon, I think Justice would approve. Justice to the environment and Anders wallet! |:

Edit: I don't follow the news very often, but from what I've seen you guys posting in here and such I could most definitely see someone thinking they're smart to connect the two Anders even though they're nothing alike, one isn't even really alive blowing pixels up doesn't make any sort of excuse for blowing up real people. DA2 is just a game, and it's a game that I love, but it's not making me want to step outside with some homemade bombs and plant them in some church.

As said before by beckaliz, I'd have to agree. I also get so angry that I want to break things, but there is no way for me to even justifying hurting someone. In my eyes everyone is a sibling, child, parent, grandparent, friend, so on so forth, and even thinking about the pain their deaths would cause to other people makes me feel like a steaming pile of poo. I can't even give my cat a whack without feeling bad if they did something wrong. :|

That is a known Right Wing Conservative newspaper trying to detract from the fact that this terrorist was a Right WING Fundamentalist Christian much like the people that dominate Congress now

What that misses is that the Chantry is not an elected representative government.
Its a theocracy.

One that controls the land through force of arms, and terror.
Its embarked on wars of genocide over and over again.

It cracks down on innocent people who did NOTHING.

The Chantry is not an overly nice institution.

Not like it matters.
The Right Wing nutters are going to run around saying VIDEO GAMES MADE HIM BAD! NOT OUR BS!

I am not sure it's fair at all to compare a certain brand of what can be loosely called a far-right extremist ideology specific more or less to Europe (though not confined there), with a legitimate right wing political party.

They're not legitimate. They're rigging elections left and right. They've proved it. They're pulling so much illegal crap in Wisconsin right now, among other places. Goddamn teabaggers.

(Ok I lied about bed but I'm too angry to sleep. I'm just gonna get off the computer and draw angry pictures.)

That still does not make them that comparable, any more than the Anders are comparable.

Ugh I just looked at that link and now I'm all kinds of upset, I really, really hate when people try to pawn this crap off on video games and violent media. Have they even considered that maybe this guy was just all kinds of messed up in the head?

I seriously don't know what to say anymore, things like this make me worry for humanity it just reminds me of exactly this.

I listen to Marilyn Manson, but I'm not violent, and I love Anders and Dragon age, but I'm not about to go out and blow up some building.

Not to bring this even more off-topic, but I personally think that dismissing it as simply him being messed up in the head, is as shallow an explanation as the video game thing (no offense).

Regardless of his mental condition and video game preferences, he is a symptom of a transnational problem / phenomenon that is especially present in Europe and is on the rise. A probem that should be accorded more attention.

And I'll leave it at that, too much off-topic and I feel that this is no place to discuss something of that tragic a magnitude.

I could only imagine if I committed some sort of violent crime. The journalists would have to like, make a bullet point list of all the violent video games I've played. It wouldn't be pretty.

No offense taken :P It's not meant to be a complete explanation for what he did, just something that could have added to the situation.

All of my <3

Btw, as far as the Anders from DA inspires Anders bomber IRL, that'd be like saying David Gaider was totally into killing giants just because of one sunday school when they talked about David and Goliath.  The "omg they have the same name so they must be the same person" argument is childish and completely idiotic.  It saddens me that any halfway reputable news source would even attempt such a lame connection, but I guess there's a bandwagon to jump on.
