Journalists always do the "video game correlation to violence" bandwagon which is so ridiculously weak. It's stupid. Anders in DA2 had a completely different agenda than the crazy guy in Norway, and is also a fictional character.

Edit because I'm under the impression it's customary to post a picture at the top of new page? Not sure, everyone else does it. lol

Having watched his video, I can see similarities with Anders, though they are shared by extremists of all kinds (fools that they are), so the video game causation is bs. But it's too early to post my interpretation on the matter.

I wonder how many mages would be able to pull off what Anders did? (Provided they had the right plans and whatnot). Most of your magical companions in DAO-DA2 seem to be as powerful as he is, if not more-so, so they might be able to do it. But maybe there was something unique about Anders (his tie to Justice for example) that allowed him to do what he did?

Just some random thoughts...

Is it bad that my first thought after reading that he played WoW was "I bet he was a frost mage, ****ing casual"

Oh to jump on the car bandwagon. I found THE perfect car that Anders would drive.

It runs on love, magic, and cat food. LMAO

I knew someone would make the comparison between the two sooner or later. Sigh. I was kind of worried about coming to the forums. I don't recall anyone in our news saying he was inspired by Anders, and it would be silly if they did - he has been planning this attack for nine years. Anders as a character didn't even exist back then.

Unreal. I live here, and Oslo is normally quiet and peaceful. Now, so many young people have been brutally slaughtered, the central city looking like a warzone and heavily armed soldiers standing guard everywhere. Fortunately for me, none of mine have been hit by it.

Having read his manifesto (skimmed the technical parts and all the so called tactics and strategies. Yea long read), I think it's safe to say that mage Anders would not be that delusional. Attempting to compare the two however, could be an interesting case study, but I think it's clear he was not inspired by mage Anders.

Glad your safe Queen, and my deepest condolences.

Wasn't his manifesto 1500 or so pages? That's impressive.

And thank you kindly. i would never have imagined that something like that could happen here, but there it is.

At the risk of sounding offensive, the manifesto was entertaining enough, in that it was ridiculous, that I managed, though of course I did not sleep. I skimmed a lot of pages though (and it does get very repetitive).

He did confirm what I said here long ago, when he quoted John Stuart Mill and Thomas Jefferson to justify what he did. Taking quotes out of context, even of great minds, can be used dangerously like that.

What he did, while tragic, is also a wake up call that Europe should not ignore this rising trend and brand of extremism any longer, imo.

And I won't get into that further, OT.

My favorite part was the thing about cutting off penises as a litmus test.

Dammit I accidentally deleted my status update, where I had his "Justicar Knights would have to surgically remove their penis and testicles for potential al Qaeda allies to trust that they are not CIA" thing quoted.

Justiciar Knight Commander for Knights Templar Europe and one of several leaders of the National and pan-European Patriotic Resistance Movement

:\\ and people wonder where they get the connection from. -sigh-

I'm sorry for your loss Queen, it must be pretty  macabre in Norway right now.

This is it:

Now what kind of sacrifice would be great enough to remove all doubt that the candidate is not a EU/US agent? A Justiciar Knight is willing to martyr himself for the cause while a EU/US agent will not be willing to sacrifice much. The entity should demand that the alleged Justiciar Knight in question surgically remove his penis and testicles and/or execute a fixed number of civilian children. While this requirement seems morbid, absurd and unreasonable, it is perhaps the most effective method of confirming the intentions of an individual. Because why would one of the sides part with a powerful weapon which worth exceeds perhaps 100 million Euros? The party would need to make 100% sure that the proxy is trustworthy. A government agent could and would never accept these terms to maintain his cover, but a true Justiciar Knight would willingly sacrifice everything for the cause, including committing smaller atrocities as long as it served the greater good of our cause. He would also be willing to part with these body parts in order to confirm his intent in this validation process. In any case, the entity would have to provide a surgical team to safely complete the operation without risk of loss of life for the Justiciar Knight.

Whaaaat.

That's... wow. You can't make sh*t like that up.

@ Ayanko Thank you. Yes, the country is in shock and grieving, and the news about this tragedy run pretty much non-stop. Also, journalists keep asking the severely traumatized survivors and their next of kin the dumbest question ever, which is "how are you feeling right now". I mean, honestly.

Media is crap. Immediately after the attack, Russian media jumped and said it could be in connection with Norwegian involvement in Libya, while American media jumped and said there could be an Al Qaeda link. Essentially both wanted to say "told you so".

So who's getting the DLC? I'm excited. Grey Wardens! I wonder if Alistair or Nate will show up.

Did anybody else notice that Stroud only gives his "But if I do this, we are even" line when Bethany becomes a Grey Warden, but not when Carver does? Weird.
