I've heard that Shale isn't very interesting.

But Awakenings is good :D for Anders cuteness. Aaannnddeerrrssssss~

You can pull Ser Pounce-a-Lot out randomly and he'll go MEOW! and Anders will go DAWW SER POUNCE A LOT I LURVE U. (or some such ridiculousness... you don't actually ever SEE the cat again after you first find him)

Ser Pounce is also good for several amusing banters. :)

I really liked Awakenings better than most, I think. I was disappointed that some companions didn't carry through (Oghren isn't my favorite...), but Nate, Sigrun, and Anders went a long way towards redeeming that decision for me. (The interplay among those 3 is hilarious too. :) )

ETA: I assume you guys have a ToP rule - so I'll link to Aimo's Varric/Anders Chest-Off (Tankgirly posted this link in the Fenris thread along with one of Aimo's Fen works, and. *I* found it amusing, anyway! :)

What does Ser Pounce A Lot look like? I want to see a screenshot of him haha.

This made me laugh:
* Anders: You know, mages created mabari hounds. Maybe I could make you just as smart as those stupid dogs.
* Ser Pounce-a-lot: (Meow!)

Make you just as smart as those stupid dogs. lmao.

I was always confused why Warden!Alistair wasn't with you. Apart from trying to be fair for King Alistair having to sit at Denerim. Plus exiled Alistair. And dead Alistair too I suppose. /scorn

The fact that Ser Pounce becomes a useable item to revive your people is the best thing ever.

Don't you actually see the kitten once though? Like the animation? Says you find it in a courtyard and can interact with it on the wiki before it becomes an inventory item.

Hah, description says it's a tabby. I thought it would be, since when Merrill tells him about kittens in Lowtown he asks if there are any tabbies.

Poor Anders. I love cats too. My Hawke and Anders would definitely be adopting little lost kittens.

@Addai Er, I dun remember. :| I'm not advocating the opinion, mind you. But I don't have her and don't feel like I'm missing anything.

And I didn't know Pounce could revive party members! Whaaaaat? <3

Wait, what? Ser Pounce-a-lot revived party members? That could have come in pretty useful. I'm still upset that the kitty wasn't in DA2, I was looking forward to some of my dog/ Anders cat interactions.

Yup, use him in combat when someone's down and they revive.  I think Anders has to be in your party at the time, though, cuz canonically he's riding around in Anders' pack or robes or something.

Who's the pretty kitty?  *meow!*

I loved Shale personally, the best DLC if you ask me.

I love glowing Anders, but that might be because I am a Justice fangirl, and in thruth liked him more then Anders in Awakening.

I SHALL HEAR NOTHING AGAINST SHALE. Seriously she's awesome. Also, the DLC mission is way better than Soldiers Peak IMO.

Awakenings is the best expansion. You get pretty good fleshed out characters, a new storyline and it is very entertaining and engaging. I loved it. Besides that's where you first meet Anders and Nate and Justice. Such great characters.

As far as Shale is awesome. Yeah, she totally IS! Who spreads these lies of Shale not being worth it?! I felt like the quests and such you did with her made the character really excellent. The banter and conversations as well are hilarious and well done. I feel closer to her than I ever did with Sebastian. One of the memorable characters for sure either way you slice it.

As for the vote.. are we voting? Glowy Anders vs Normal Anders... I can't choose. I love his glowy badass self, but he is way more lovable in normal Anders form, and makes me miss awakening Anders that much more. I think one without the other would feel.. incomplete in DA2.

I'm a total A!Anders fangirl so non-glowy for me, comes with more jokes and sarcasm.

Speaking of which I was just playing Awakening for the second time and got up to the conversation with Wynne about the Libertarians wanting to pull away from the Chantry entirely. Anders responce?

"Pull away entirely? That's madness, I hate Chantry oversight as much as the next mage, but they can't just decide to leave! This is a recipe for disaster.”

I had forgotten he said that. I think my jaw landed somewhere in the deep roads.

Also now I have JAnders being glowy in my head yelling "MADNESS? THIS! IS! KIRKWALL!"

Yeah, he's worried that the Chantry is going to swoop down upon them, as is Wynne. I played through Awakenings recently, and for the first time I picked the "it's about time mages freed themselves" option for giggles. Wynne, of course, was horrified and stated change must come peacefully, whereas I had the chance to say "then it will never come" and wow does this game beat you with the foreshadowing stick. I never really noticed before, though I did cough a little uncomfortably when Nathaniel convinced Justice that taking a living host if the host was willing wasn't all that bad.

Now I want "Damn it Nathaniel!" GIF (also JusticexNathaniel is totally my crack OTP and I wonder what would have happened if Justice had joined with Nate instead of Anders, I don't think Nate had a personal cause by the end of Awakening, just redeeming the Howe name and being a good Warden.)

I don't think Nate would have gone for it to be honest. In fact I'm still unsure why Anders was so willing to merge. Plus it was Justice wanting to help Anders as well. I just don't think either of them could predict what was going to happen after they merged.

A dead host with no soul and no mind is one thing, but didn't they consider that it would be BOTH of them in there? How did that not seem like it would be a problem? I mean Anders' story explains a bit but there are still so many questions that form out of that merger. I guess we will just never truly know, LOL.

That is amazing. It also kinda of makes it look like Anders is wearing thigh high stockings under his robes which is lol worthy. ^_^

I like the one where somebody asks Anders if he always wears robes, and he responds in a sexy voice, "Not when I'm naked I don't." *giggle*

Nate, who gets to be the only sane man in the entire party.

I demand they drag Adam in to re-shoot the lines for Awakening Anders. Then no one can use the voice over thing as their reasoning for why they dont like him ;p

Sure he's the sanest men amongst insane people. That doesn't make him "sane", though.
Ontopic: Anders is always insane @.@ My wardens aren't much better. Why my chaotic street thug, shem hater and murderer couldn't just ditch the whole "save world from the blight" quest is beyond me.

LoL I love how in DA2 you can be like "Maybe we should go somewhere else besides Kirkwall." When you first get there.

Everyone gives you the "look." Like, yeah.. right.. are you freakin insane!? Still, it is funny to even have the option to bring it up. Like in DA:O if you could have the option to be like "screw you guys I'm going HOME!" and they all turn and go .. "nope, sorry.. not how the game is played. Your stuck being our only hope and all that." I mean you can make references to "why should I care," and such, but there never is a "forget this!" option that I remember.

As for Nate -- he was nice enough but I don't know if he was quite sane. Him and Anders got along well, LOL. I always picked up mage revolution undertones from Anders in Awakenings. It does kind of beat you over the head with "EPIC FORESHADOWING," but really it is easy to miss unless you are looking for it.

Yep, in Awakening, Anders is passionate about freedom, but it's his own freedom. By natural extension he talks about how it's bad for ALL mages, but he's also somewhat lazy and unwilling to do anything about it. He'd be happy if the mage revolution bringing freedom happened, but he'd rather be sipping Antivan brandy with his nubile mistresses somewhere far away when it did.

By the end of Awakening, he's found support and people who agree with him, Justice in particular. That's gotta be something particularly lacking in a mage-unfriendly world like Thedas. With all the action going on, you can't really accuse him of being lazy anymore, so maybe he got motivated to try something. He's smart enough to realize he can't do it on his own, doesn't know where to start, and needs the continued support of someone pushing him along, so he agrees to help Justice stick around.

Anyway, that's my interpretation. As for glowy vs. non-glowy, I thought A!Anders was awesome, loved the character, etc. but didn't really pick up on his seriousness at all. In DA2, he really came to life and made me take a second look at Justice, too. I'd never taken Justice around on my initial playthrough of DA:A because you didn't really need 2 tanks in the group and my warden was an arcane warrior. When I replayed it after DA2, after I recruited them, Justice and Anders never left my party (and my god, Justice is unstoppable when specced for dual-wield!).
