Morrigan's god baby?

I've never heard that dialogue either, interesting but creepy.

Once I'd figured how to edit classes I made my mage an archer. I figure the smugglers taught her and it makes RPGing an apostate easier.

I love Anders' face, really. His chin is so sharp he could shave people's beards with it.

I'm wondering something, do you guys think it's better to write in past tense or present tense? Sometimes I feel like it's impossible to get a scene out in present tense, or it just sounds funny to me. I tend to always notice myself reverting back to past tense. It's quite annoying, but I also hardly ever write..unless it's an essay or something. lol

Just stare at Chasind Anders for a bit :D But I sympathize. I did two Fenris romances back to back (rival and friend) and it's been hard to ignore him since then. My Hawke just wants a goddam harem

I write in both, although all of my DA2 stuff has been in present tense. I prefer the immediacy of present tense but I know some people hate reading it or think it's flat out wrong for storytelling.

Ultimately, I'd say go with what you find to be most comfortable. If you're just now starting to write fiction and you're struggling with present, I'd definitely say go with past.

I'm rusty at the whole writing thing, but I tend to write in past tense. I *do* catch myself switching to present tense in some scenes, though. Then I have to slap my hand and reconjucate my verbs (does that sound dirty to anyone else? no? just me? Forget I said anything.)

I feel like I'm doing something wrong, though. Wouldn't at least some parts of a present tense piece be in past? When I write in it though I'm like "wait, could that have been written in present?" and then start rereading it looking for errors.

Most novels are in past tense though it seems like, but a lot of fanfiction I read is in present which is interesting. It doesn't really bother me, I'm not sure I even notice unless I'm looking for it. I've actually read your pieces, SurelyForth. :P

I should probably just re-edit everything I've started to write to past though, I suppose. Bah, that's going to be fuuun.

OK, that Anders + Hawke + Mabari is hilarious. I think that's about the cutest Anders art I've ever seen save the old pencil sketch with a very happy Ser Pounce.

@ Heidenreich - *points at sig* Remember, there are no puppy eyes.

@Tidra try reading the bits you're unsure of aloud. You might feel a bit silly but it helps. :D

@Tidra When you're writing in past tense and you add bits that were... um... more in the past than that, you use "had" a lot. "Had gone", "had walked", "had thrown", etc. (I can use these tenses but I can't name them hahahaha). But if you're writing in the present tense, you can use past tense in those situations instead. It's usually in flashback settings. Are you writing about Anders? :D Writing about Anders is good. We love that Anders. Especially in that sexy "look at my nipples" getup. And here is a writer's help discussion from the fic writers and readers group.

@Surely I always write in past tense. Never had a problem with it before. Then I'm reading Maps and Legends and, when rereading something I wrote in the coffee shop the next day, I realized I wrote it in present tense. Hahaha!

it depends entirely on the context. references to past events are obviously always in past, eg, "he'd had thoughts about that before," but otherwise it's just dependent on syntax and context.

if you're writing fanfic, there are plenty of people out there who'll happily beta-read for you, myself included. i'm bored tonight.

I'm just going to edit it to all past tense, I noticed I don't even have to edit a lot haha. I reverted back QUIITEE a bit, more than I had noticed when getting it all down first. It just flows easier for me that way. And lots of people write in past tense so I suppose I shouldn't care lol.

And um...it MIGHT be about Anders. Maybe. Shh, don't tell. I was quite bored. I'm not even sure who would end up reading this. I'd have to like, make a fanfiction.net account lol. I remember I'd read some stories on there before years ago, some of them were absolutely horrendous...I'm pretty new to writing fiction but mine shouldn't be that bad.

95% of fanfiction is awful. The other 5% is so horrendously beyond just bad that they are simply amazing. Posted Image

Yes. I will admit, I found myself reading random fanfictions that were so terrible I had to KEEP reading them they were so funny without meaning to be

I hope mine is not that bad. I'd cry.

Time for some more art spamming.

A commission I did for berelinde of her Iain Hawke with Anders.

As far as fiction goes, I prefer to write in past tense. Although, I have found out over time that I tend to switch tenses without thinking about it, so it's something I have to carefully proofread for. I will also admit to switching subconsciously to solely present tense if I try to write anything after reading Maps and Legends.

I mostly write in past tense, though I have chunks that are in present tence -- like the re-living of my Tabris' backstory for Zevran around the campfire.

Again, I blame Surely ;)

I managed to romance Anders after Fenris, successfully. This PT has been rough. I remember why I more-prefer carver over bethany, I forgot how difficult it is to rival fenris with out being all "RAWR!SLAVERS!RULE!*FROTH*" , and I couldn't sit through the hot!anders kiss with out laughing thanks to you people.. becase all I saw was Adam making out with his right hand in my head.

THANKS GUYZ ;p

Also? mmmmmmmm chasined Anders..

For me, reading fanfiction is like a hybrid between reading a normal story and running roleplayers through a campaign you've played a bunch of times before. The RPG-campaign feel makes the present tense feel OK to me, but most long-form fiction is written past tense. My big problem is that there are some scenes that I feel work better present tense and others I feel work better past tense. I usually err on the side of past tense because it is 'invisible.'

I am really suprised nobody has mentioned this article yet about the correlation between Anders Behring Breivik (The horrible man who killed 70+ people in Norway) and our Dragon Age 2 Anders.

CONFIRMED: Anders Behring Breivik Was A Fan Of "Dragon Age" Games
