Hah. Idk, Anders is possessive over Hawke which I sort of like. That, and, while Zevran kept trying to charm me in DA:O I was like NO! Zevran! Must marry Alistair! But he seriously made me want to change my mind, he is too witty and charming in a different way than Alistair.

I'd rather get it on with Isabela as my LI and Zevran, it just fits more. That, and I played DA2 first so I kind of prefer Anders personality in that game more, though I definitely wouldn't be opposed to him lightening up a lot more like he was in Awakenings. Yeah, idk. It's hard to say. Awakenings Anders is really funny. Kind of sad to see how different he is now.

It's interesting how the majority of people seemed to have Cousland as their first Origins character, with Amell running a close second. I did Mahariel first, and my friend started with Tabris (and later did a Mahariel for her non-evil playthrough), so I never realized how common the Alistair marriage was.

I didn't harden Alistair on my first playthrough because I didn't know anything, so Zevran consoled me after he left me. I stll prefer Alistair, but because in my canon play through he's king and my Warden is just his occasional mistress (I did a half-replay where I hardened him, just to see, and my headcanon is somewhere in between), Zevran is the one who's "available" to leave and go on adventures.

I agree that possessive!Anders is cute, and I can totally understand him not wanting Hawke to have a random hookup with some antivan assassin who hands out sex like handshakes. I didn't even think of the possibility of Zevran + Anders until I was in this thread talking about how, in my ideal world Hawke, Anders, the Warden and Zevran meet up together after DA2, and someone responded with "and that's what they call the big bang." I had just been thinking of them in terms of a pair of couples, but after that I couldn't unthink it. Similarly, when my friend sent me a copy of a fic she was working on where DA and DA2 character met, the last line was just "And then they all had sex, lol."

I just can't remember if he made some cranky comment about the Architect thing like Justice did. Justice was like "WHAAAT DO NOT WANT". Then Reyonii said, "Psh, we're gonna try this thing, ok? Jeeze you guys. I just want to kill this damn brood mother and get back to Alistair for the Maker's sake. I'll deal with this Architect later. What, you didn't like the clones? They were hilarious."

Considering the possibility that the architect may be one of those magisters that became the first darkspawn, dude's never gonna die now. Posted Image

After reading The Calling you'd have to be pretty damn crazy to give the Architect a second thought, but a world with him in it is more interesting so I keep him alive. Hey, he may want to turn every living person in Thedas into a ghoul, but watching it happen would be entertaining !! ! !!! !! ! !!! ! ! !! ! !!!

Hahaha yeah, well, that's why I guess I love a sort of cavalier virgin PT. I didn't know wtf I was doing with Reyonii. If I could go back (which I WON'T because then I'd have to play my canon Hawke over again for the third time), I'd harden Alistair (though I didn't make him king anyway), I would get friendship up on all the others that I missed and do their quests, and I'd actually recruit Velanna and Sigrun. (*gasp!!*) It's all being in the same boat as the PC, not knowing what the eff is going on. It's exciting and spontaneous, and that's how I want my canon PTs to be.

My reason for wanting to know what Anders thought about the Architect is for fic writing purposes.

Edit: I haven't read The Calling, because I haven't finished Stolen Throne. I haven't finished THAT one because I've been caught up in fanfics. Ha ha ha...

I'm a lurker and former poster. Thought I'd contribute, if that's okay. :)

Until this DLC, I was quite pleased with myself for keeping the Archetect alive during my cannon play through. "You're so smart," I congratulated myself smugly as I watched him walk away. "Sure, he's no paragon of light and goodness like you, but I think he's honorable in his own way, and trustworthy. In time, the Wardens will thank you for being so farsighted."

Toward the end of the DLC, I'd say my feelings had changed some. ":?<_<:pinched::unsure::crying:" I lamented in my computer chair, remembering the Archetect wandering off into the Deep Roads, perhaps never to be seen again.

Wow, the author of this "article" is mental.

"Is it possible that
he even tailored his looks to resemble the character Anders from Dragon
Age II? Or is it still merely a coincidence? His hair is even extremely
similar to the "Anders" video game character. RPGs are role-playing
games where people assume the role of a character. [...] Breivik has
been planning an attack for allegedly 9 years way before DA: 2. However,
is it possible that after playing 'Dragon Age 2,' he decided to go
through with it or was inspired in some way?"

And, man, he OBVIOUSLY tailored his looks to resemble Anders.... because pale blond men are so RARE in Norway....

Found it: YouTube... Anders re: allying with Architect

Not much feedback from him there. He's just like, "eeeehhhh.... I dunno... is this the right thing? :( Don't know. What if bad things happen?"

He doesn't go all RAAAAAAGE about it like Justice does.

Guess that'll be fun to write about.

Oh looky that! I'm back on this amazingly awesome and now long thread about my favorite mage.

It took Legacy to bring me back.

[Spoiler]

Anyway did all of you have to fight Anders in the middle of the DLC? Because I really did not want to kick his ass. I used my mage Hawke that was barely romancing him, so the LI wasn't acknowledged but does it make a difference if you are in a full relationship with him?

I thought bringing Anders to the DLC gave a lot more insights to the whole "..were mages really responsible for the Blights?" That seems to be the case, as given by Anders puppy face at finding the medallion at the end. But there seems to be more to the Chantry being right about everything.

DLC SPOILERS AHOY!

Eeeeeee! The DLC was awesome.  It made me ridiculously happy whenever Anders mentioned the Warden Commander. Although I don't remember him what he said at the final conversation with the Architect, Justice was definitely "Rargh, kill it." Stabbity stabbity stabbity.

Play it at least once after Leandra dies. :crying:

I must see Carver's jig. And play through with my Anders-romancing Hawkes! This run was with my Hawke that flirted with Sebastian, who of course I couldn't take since apparently the DLC takes place both before and after the Last Straw since he's not showing up in my party selection.

Does romancing Anders give you an option to avoid the fight after he freaks out?

The first time he started freaking out about the voice, I thought it was Larius talking instead of him. And then I heard him correctly the second time and felt really bad for him.

[SPOILERS]

I imported my post game save with Anders fully romanced, and I still had to fight him. And by "fight" I mean I killed the shades and waited for him to stop on his own. Pathetic, I know.

I'm curious about the magisters/darkspawn as well. I can't imagine Bioware would make this amazing story/setting/characters and then answer one of its fundamental questions that blatantly. They tend to leave a lot of things up to interpretation. I assume the magisters/darkspawn thing has more to it that the player(s) don't know yet.

If not, sigh. Another something to pin on mages. <_<

If you bring Anders, you fight him in the middle of it and the dialogue is different if you are in a romance with him

His "I wonder what else the chantry knows that we don't" line really got my Dragon Age lore gears working going again

Would you kindly not kill the Architect?

Are a lot of people's first characters Couslands? So weird. I've only ever played and finished the game as a Surana. The idea of the elven mage, a second class citizen twice over, just always interested me most. So I've always be pretty pro-mage since my PC's are always mages.

And my Surana kept the Architect alive. Mostly because of curiosity. A lot of curiosity.

My canon character is an Amell, so I'm pretty militantly pro-mage as well. I always play a mage first, but I've got finished saves of all six Origins, plus the Orlesian one from Awakening.

And funnily, my husband also kept the Archetect alive because of curiosity. I think we're all pretty darn curious about him, at this point. ^_^

Haha~ well you should've seen my face when Anders went Justice crazy, I was like "OMG nuuu.....what do I do???! Stupid Justice I hate you!!" So yeah I felt so bad beating him down. The only reassurance that I wouldn't kill him was because well he needed to be in the end so yeah but still~

I don't mind Bioware leaving a lot of things up to the player but I felt this DLC had a lot of quality in terms of the DA lore so I hope they keep doing this.

I kept telling myself that logically he had to be fine, but that didn't stop me from having a mini fangirl break-down of sorts. ;)

I am ashamed.

Alright, I finished the DLC. First of all, holy carp, that end fight was tough. I cheated worse than Isabela, using runscript healplayer every 5 seconds, and I still got ful party wiped four times! To give folks some perspective, I usually play on "hard" but I knocked it back to "normal" for the last batte. How are you supposed to beat that thing? OK, I was playing in Act 1, but really! How are you folks doing it? Also, I never found the chest piece or the helm of the armor.

As for the story, doing it while Leandra is alive is pretty much optional. It didn't hit me in any sensitive spots. Doing it with an active Anders romance is a must. I can see how much more poignant it would be that way.

@Berelinde I had a lot of the Lifeward and Mythral's Favor potions. Ha ha ha. (My first time through I kept hearing Aveline ****ing about, "That broody mage is down!" Like, watch how you talk about my boyfriend, woman!) Also, I kept everybody completely in the alcoves until the fire blasts pass by.

My first completed file was a Cousland, though I started with a Tabris.  I read that only Cousland could marry Alistair, and for once in my life I wanted my PC to end up being the freaking queen of a country rather than just getting a "Good job, noble hero!" and a pat on the head.   So I metagamed a bit.  I completed a Tabris with my second playthrough, because city elves are so much fun.

Other than that, though, I have one of every origin, except Aeducan.  I never could make an Aeducan PC that I could get into.  Not sure why, since I dearly love my Brosca.

Of the 4 Wardens who went through Awakening, only one of them spared the Architect and that was my Brosca.

Due to lots of pausing and moving my derpy people around I didn't have much trouble.. but there's a boss or three in the MMO I play that does the fire around the room thing so I'm used to racing it* . But I only play on normal so there is that..

*the trick is to stay as close to the leading edge as possible so the other bits are far behind.. hiding in the alcoves til it's at a good place to jump in also helps tons

Now I want more DLCs. :/ Like one that has Malcolm actually in it, and one that takes after Act 3. I wanna see my Hawke and Anders running away together after the mess they caused.
