My Morrigan romancing Warden was bothered by Morrigan's offer.

He felt betrayed and used and "broke up" with her.

But then he was a romantic who thought he had truly changed her. The fact Morrigan's offer was "do this ritual now or I leave" (as well as "do this ritual now and I'll still leave") proved to him that she had not. The offer, framed as a demand and presented with an actual Option B (Alistair) crushed him personally.

Oh, and he was so embittered by the offer that when he confronted her at the Eluvian, he stabbed her.

Edit: I hate the top picture thing in all threads that do it so none from me!

Anders has. Justice hasn't.

He might also be praying that Justice doesn't pop up at the wrong moment.

I bow to your word choice there.

As for the DR discussion, love and sex may not be the same thing to an Amell or a Surana (or any other Warden really...besides maybe Mahariel), but consider how Alistair has been raised (Chantry + promiscuity = cannot compute). And now think just how confusing the situation must be for him, whether you've romanced him or not.

I thought the Alistair remaining a Warden ending was alright. Dark ritual? Yeah, lame, but better (for the PC) than losing the man you love to the Blight.

My rationalization for not making Alistair king was that all of this horrible s*** had happened to my PC, and after everything I was doing for the sodding world they could at least let me keep my boyfriend, thank you very much.

Sorry to interrupt whatever current discussion is underway.

I'm not sure "having sex one time with a woman you hate to save the lives of both yourself and your girlfriend, with said girlfriend's knowledge and permission" constitutes promiscuity  Plus, well, Alistair is... male.

I guess promiscuity was the wrong term (although the Chantry might very well perceived it as such, "evil blood magic ritual" aside). Sex without love in general, then, if you prefer.

And Alistair may be male, but he does a pretty good job of keeping it in his pants, so to speak. Barring the infamous "Fereldan dogs" banter, and even that's awfully mild.

Not seeing bashful there. More of a "On the bed, woman. Bottom up. And don't make me repeat myself..."

See, that's closer to how I imagine it going.

But Varric couldn't bring himself to repeat the tawdry details to Cassandra...and he was hoping she's Chantry enough to not wonder how a man could go from face-grabbing-pants-kiss to chastely being led to the bed like a wide-eyed virgin.

So... am I the only one who's Warden wasn't bothered by Morrigan's offer?

Never bothered mine, but I have creative and unpopular opinions of monogamy.

For most of us, I think the issue is not sex but the outcome.  Bringing an old god into the world seems just a teensy bit risky to save one life, even that of a loved one. My canon Warden (in non-canonically modded game to allow him to romance Alistair!) did it, but in admitting it to Alistair five years later, he remarked that Wynne was right, that love was selfish.

I'm just saying his trouser inventory makes it significantly less likely that he'd be losing sleep specifically over having to have sex with another person, especially considering all of the other much larger things that come along with the DR he has to worry about (plus the fact he's perfectly willing to take a mistress if you harden him and marry him to Anora, so if he can't deal with schtupping Morrigan...). Religious doctrine primarily concerns itself with policing womens' sexual agency, aside; until like the 1960s, monogamy was essentially something only women did. And judging by dev posts, the Chantry doesn't have terribly much to say about sexuality at all compared to some real world religions.

Totally depended on my warden.

My Dalish warden despised Morrigan and thought that she was trying to become another Magister.
"Why yes I want to knock up the woman who hates my races, and wants to bring back the god of a people who enslaved mine. What a grand idea since I am sure you will raise said being into a wise and good being with only concern for all people"

My dalish had a bit too much sarcasm.

Eh, fair enough. I guess I just see Alistair as being the most innocent one of all the male companions (well, barring Sebastian). He says himself that he's been raised to behave like "a gentleman". Also the fact that you have to harden him to make him take a mistress and participate in Isabela hanky-panky. If he's unhardened, he won't do it.

That being said, he'll do the ritual whatever his hardening status is (Posted Image), so I guess that defeats the point.

Think if that was the case there would be no Alistair to follow the father's lead, to speak of...

Playing DLC, I have a sudden urge to walk around in the "I support hugs for Anders" t-shirt. No, seriously, Hawke, what are you doing? Hug the man you claim to love. And tell him to never do that again to you. Ok, maybe the last one is like stabbing a pony, but still it would be nice to do something (for a change). Even my "resent emotions, pack them up and throw them through the window"Mrs.Hawke disapproves of just standing there.
Legacy provides very intresting lore, that will probably be used in the future. Damm, I look forward to it.

Also, it's doubtful Marric actually had a mistress. Katriel was before he married and Fiona was after Rowan died. From the way he was wasting away, mentally, after Rowan's death, I'm of the mind that he never cheated on her and Alistair is Fiona's child.

But...Anders. Isn't it swell how he asks Hawke how she's doing after hearing Malcolm's voice if the sibling isn't along in Legacy? He cares. :3

Elves. I meant elves.

It's not gay if it's an elf, anyway.

I thought there were a lot of really nice moments with Anders in the DLC. I felt that the developers really took their time with this one.

Did anyone else feel like at times they went out of their way to acknowledge your romance? A statement here, a word there, some banter, etc. I thought it was a really nice touch.

With Anders, anyway. I haven't yet imported any of the characters that have romanced anyone else, so don't know if the other companions got as much attention.

I wasn't entirely pleased with any of Hawke's dialogue during Anders' breakdown.  Okay, the snarky option was hilariously tactless as usual (an unperturbed "I can't take you anywhere").  The diplomatic one was forgettable, like most of the diplomatic options trololol.  The aggressive one had some actual emotions behind it that made me raise my eyebrows.  Hawke says something like "Please don't do this to me here" and actually had some desperation in her voice like the situation warrants (magically trapped in a creepy Deep Roads/Warden prison thing while her possessed, crazy boyfriend rages about the voices in his head).

The references to the romances were definitely a nice surprise. After previous DLC where no one seemed to give a Rhett Butler style damn about your PC's personal life, it was nice to hear it mentioned not just by the love interest, but also by other companions. And man did Anders win me all over again when he called Hawke "cute."

Anyone have a list of the Anders romance references?  I want to make sure I didn't miss anything. :3  Here are the ones I remember:

- Anders calls Hawke "love" several times (2 or 3 times during his breakdown scene, possibly elsewhere?)
- He says "It worries me that they can get at you" in the very first dialogue
- He will talk to Hawke after the Malcolm sidequest if the sibling isn't there
- The "cute" banter with Varric
