Is Carver such a delicate flower that he can't help but resort to "WAH! You're a Mage! I'll turn you in!" I mean, come on. This point is just stupid to talk about, because they both could have handled it differently.
We only talk about it because you've made a fuss over how Carver threatens Anders and how that shows what a meanie Carver is
Personally i don't see any real problem with this sequence -- Anders is being the usual ass, Carver is being ass in response.
Uh, okay? Where did I even "make a fuss" about this? The only thing I even said in relation to that situation was that Carver threatened Anders implying he would turn him in. The only reason "we" are even talking about anything is because
you apparently took offense to me saying I would kill Carver if he joined the Templars based on my own opinion that Malcolm didn't agree with the Circle system...and because
my Hawke would be pretty offended by this. Nothing to do with the fact that he had a friend that was a Templar and named Carver after said Templar. I never said Malcolm had a chip on his shoulder about Templars, all I was saying is he didn't agree with the institution as a whole.
Nor did I ever say Carver was a "meanie". I went on to say that I felt like his reasons for joining the Templars were not in hopes of doing any good, to me it was a spiteful decision and that is why I brought up the fact that he threatened Anders, and then brought up all his actions in the end game of Last Straw. Not because I think it's some huge deal that he threatened Anders when Anders was being a jerk to him, but because it was still something worth noting when you suggested the only reason Anders was able to remain free was because of Carver sticking his neck out for him or something which I disagree with. Carver might not have ratted out Hawke's friends, but like I said in yet another post of mine, he wouldn't hesitate to pick them all up for being apostates if he was ordered to do so. He only stood up for Hawke in the Last Straw when he realized Meredith was going to kill them, other than that he was a perfect lap dog.
I've acted this way in response to the implication that Carver becoming a templar was somehow grave offense to the memory of the Father, and one you'd want to kill him for. To put it differently, the idea of wanting to kill a guy because he become someone he got named after struck me as acting hollier than the pope, so to speak -- if Malcolm Hawke felt similarly about the thought of his child becoming associated with the templars, he wouldn't have named said child after one, imo.
Lol. Okay, really? It's a figure of speech, and I even stated afterwards that I was just ranting. If I had the actual story choice in game to kill my brother or not after he became a Templar I would
not take it. So, lighten up. And like I said before, I don't view Carver joining the Templars as being in hopes to bring about change or anything of the sort - and that is my own opinion because the decision itself was spiteful to me. So I don't see how he "became like the Carver" he was named after besides the fact that he took up the same job. This conversation also happened like 8 pages ago, I thought we were done with this but apparently not.
But yes, I am much more "HOLIER THAN THOU" THAN THE POPE. Carver MUST DIE! Geez, give me a break.
