I just finished DA2, I bought it, pre ordered for the signature edition and everything and put the game down around act 3 and it's been sitting there forever, unfinished. (Couldn't beat that stupid high dragon with my mage and I remember getting frustrated and putting it down) So I had time and decided to start fresh and try again.

Man I just hated Anders in DA2 :( My first playthrough I tried to romance him first because I LOVED him in awakening. I almost wished Alistair wasn't so swoony so my grey warden could swipe Anders up in that one. So I was super excited he was in DA2 but I feel they ruined him. I started to hate him! I couldn't stand him. He was still in my party for heals but ugh I absolutely hate what they did with his character. He was sooooo loveable in awakening :( I'll just try to keep his memory as the ser pounce-a-lot lovable guy rather than the whiny blow things up guy.

I'm really not happy with what they did with his character. Don't do it again Bioware >:{

I'm sorry?

It's not exactly a shocker: he was a creep in Awakening (never going to get over "Oh, don't get me wrong, Biff made the funniest little gurgle when he died" and "and now they're dead") as well.

Funny thing: I didn't liked Anders when I first played Awakening. He seemed shady, and with a lot of stuff going on. I though I regret later, keeping him alive and in the party, and he'll stab me in the back, or have some great nasty mystery in him. He was the one of these non-transparent characters that didn't screamed "BETRAYAL", so I was extremely suspicious.
But he eventually landed in the 'harmless" category.
Yeah, 'harmless'. At least he got so horrendously bad at lying.

****... I'm so lucky..

To be fair, deflection via humor is such a rarely used trope that we can't expect people to realize it when it starts beating them senseless and teabagging them with its obviousness.  Characters should always be taken at face value, after all.

Duh.

i find that the literary equivalent of testicles in my mouth is generally pretty hard to ignore, even for idiots, but i guess some people really dig happy anders and his pristine butthole

In far less related topics, why is the word "taint" not in our title? I'm very sad.

It's about shallow perception, so let's not dwell on it.

I liked Anders in Awakening. I like characters that are so fundamentally screwed up that there's nothing that can fix them and they have to grow, twisted, around their giant ouchies just to survive while still ending up "good". Anders, after all, is a good guy. An angry, miserable, selfish guy, but he still wants to do good. Sometimes. And even in Awakening. Even in DA2, too.

He's always been bad at lying. He just stopped being able to deflect. And wear robes that show off his nipples. I really think that's what did it.

Not so sure about his lying abilities... after all, he had to learn how to run, survive and stay hidden. How good he was in staying hidden was another thing... I suspect he eventually learned that they'll find him anyway so he stopped trying his best to keep the low profile, and have as much fun, as possible.
And he could keep the robes

The greatest name to ever be named.

I would like to submit "Anders' Taint Brigade" as the next thread title.

Taint, taint, taint, taint, taint.

I'm almost certain BW did that on purpose. I mean, srsly. It's called the goddamned "taint", for chrissakes.

Taint isn't in the title because we don't talk about his the taint very much.

But...now we are, so...

We don't talk about his taint very often?

I feel -- frankly, I feel like I've been lied to. Next you'll tell me the Maker isn't real.

Yes, we are now the Taint Brigade!  So glorious.  I would definitely wear that on a t-shirt.

Now I know what my Warden-Commanders spent the rest of their lives doing: attempting to convince the Grey Wardens to change their slogans.

It might make recruitment easier, at least.

Join the Wardens. In the end you'll need nothing but taint to sustain you!

He does it well, though.

Am I a sick and twisted creature for thinking that the funniest part of that entire clip was Isabela's raspberry?
