No problem, cmessaz.

And HO, we've been discovered. We just can't let go of cute, cuddly Awakenings-Anders.

Top! Kind of appropriate:

Is the convo different in Act 3? I've never waited!

As far as I recall, it's the same. It would be kind of funny if he asked why you've been carrying it in your pocket for three years before deciding to give it to him as a gift, but alas.

Why would that be so strange? I quit smoking two years ago, but I've still got a pack of cigarettes floating around the bottom of my handbag. I keep meaning to toss them, but I never quite get around to it.

Keeping something just lying around isn't strange, but randomly deciding that 'hey, maybe my boyfriend whom I've lived with for the past three years would like to have this' is a bit strange, though. Or maybe I'm the strange one.

I'll just stand over here now.

Well, hanging onto a gift for someone is a bit different than cigarettes (and I too still have a pack in my car despite having quit almost four years ago now; glad to see I'm not the only one). But I think the explanation would be that Anders doesn't know where Hawke got it. For all he knows, Hawke picked it up on the street somewhere.

LOL. Kinda like the key I give him after 3 years >.< I remember thinking wait...shouldn't I have given this to him like...as soon as he moved in? XD

I know, this one bugged me. Plus I remember having the strategy guide out right then, and I interpreted it to say you should give Anders a key so he'll move in before Act 3. I just kept clicking on him in the clinic and refusing to do the final questline in Act 2, certain my game had bugged out. That convo really should have closed out Act 2.

I would have still rather given Anders a basket of kittens as a "lets shack up" proposition. In fact, if I had any control over Hawke's living arrangement, that mansion would be swarming with cats, and instead of the Champion, Hawke would be known as The Krazy Kat Lady of Kirkwall.

Yeah it should have. That is part of the reason the 3 year between acts thing didn't work right for me because it seemed like some of the beginning Act 3 conversations were just weird. Like Anders to dog about the bed...you'd think that would have taken place a while back too O_o. I guess Act 1 into 2 didn't bother me as much, but Act 2 into 3 was jarring for me to begin with. Maybe I'm nuts.

It's scary out there. Stay here, instead. Besides, Anders lives here. And we have cookies.

Seriously, though, most of the topics you'll see elswhere appear in here eventually, but the debate will be much more respectful (and far better informed).

LOL where are you people going?! Now I'm curious. I rarely branch out into other threads it becomes silly to the point of silly in some places.

As for the Amulet. I think I've given it to him in Act 3 before and I don't think the dialogue is different for non-romanced people. He still says the same ole same ole. It was one of those "oh crap forgot to give this to you!" things that I had in my inventory after act 2 finished. Was like "DOH!" I didn't really need it for the friend/rival points but I wanted to give it to him anyways.

Ugh pretty much anywhere that isn't a gush thread is insane. And it seemed to have died down for a while but now it's going on again. Gonna just stay in here for the most part I think and in private groups. Seems the only safe place on BSN unless you want a huge headache.

Also, I'm pretty sure clothing is optional in here, if it's not then... oops? I guess I've been breaking the rules this entire time.

Blerg, yeah. I hardly ever branch out, but I do read random threads just to get a short lulz out of them if at all possible. I was in the Joker Romance thread for awhile, but they wernt quite as amusing as you guys are. So here I am, back in my Anders loving thread with all you Anders loving wierdos. (Don't worry, I say that lovingly, as I am a wierdo as well.)

And hold the phone, there's a Grand Cleric Elthina thread? Do I even want to lurk over there to see what's going on? |:

I was trying to read that thread to see what all the fuss was about but it made me want to slam my head into something hard. But enough of that. Let's talk about Anders you lovely, crazy people!

The general consensus seems to be that it would have been nice (and probably made more sense) to give Anders the key earlier. Even my Hawkes that weren't romancing him wouldn't have minded giving him somewhere other than Darktown to hang his boots after a long day at the clinic. But what I'm getting to is this... If that was moved earlier to Act 2, what sort of scene would you all have like in Act 3?

I'm not actually sure what else I would have liked to see, but I was curious what any of you thought.

Yes. I just caught up on reading it....I liked being accused of fangirling Awakening Anders (this coming from a devout Sebastian follower that has no time for any sort of character analysis that was attempted in the Sebastian thread at one point because she was right about absolutely everything. Sebastian is a Godly specimen of man that always weighs his decisions and is always rational.) This is quite funny since I never played Awakening, so the first & only Anders I came to love was the damn crazy one. Then there was more BS about 9/11 (that doesn't even remotely relate) blah blah, terrorist, blah blah...I think the world is rainbows and people never have to do bad things for freedom apparently. (and especially not in Thedas! oh my!)

Edit- Here is Anders...pointing the finger at idiots.

Well

I actually do like the convo if you just skip the key thing, but it feels wrong to not give him the key so I always wind up reloading.

...I've never actually not given him the key. What is this bizarro alternate conversation you speak of?

As for an additional scene, getting him a kitten. For sure.

As for other thread...sometimes I try. I really do. Then I just get all frazzled and come back in here where it's safe.

You've never... what?

OK, let's take the question at face value. There are other dialogue options in that scene, and at least one of them is really, really fun. And not everbody plays through all the dialogue options before deciding which one they like the best.

In the first Anders conversation of Act 3 (if you let him move in with you, that is), it starts with Anders and Merrill talking by a window. During the course of that conversation, you can give Anders the key to your basement, the one you explored during Birthright, that later turns out to be the Den of Evil... but that's another story. Anyway, the other choices during that conversation are to duck back into the bedroom for some spontaneous together time or something else. I never picked it.

Oh, I forgot about the non-key convo! I do like that a lot. It's one of those instances where I'm mad doing one thing completely closes off another branch of conversation. The problem is, I never have a save that keeps that conversation because I always give him the key and then flirt. I just cannot resist that smirk and not giving him the key seems mean.

So I suppose it would have been nice to be able to give him the key in Act 2 and then have that other conversation in Act 3. Actually, this could have cleared up some other Act 2 weirdness. Instead of having Anders ask to move in immediately following your first night together, that could have been worked into the key scene. So, romance scene and later, moving in/key scene. It might have felt a little less rushed that way. I mean, I understand that it actually works with Anders' personality to ask to move in then, but it would have given Hawke a bit more breathing space if desired.
