@Sable: Kaya's the same way, caring about Anders much more than the wealth. Kane, on the other hand... is glad he's in Origins and not DA2. Even though watching Justice yell at him for being lazy and apathetic would be hilarious.

Solomon Hawke is a bit of a dastardly fellow. One of those people who are so subtle about their sarcasm that you eventually forget how to tell whether or not he's sincere. I don't think Justice likes him too much.

The sad thing is that Anders DID yell at Natale for being lazy and apathetic about the mages when she called him out on Justice.  She didn't give a damn about anyone outside her very narrow circle of family and friends.  Not until Anders started to show her that the mages in Kirkwall needed people to protect and defend them as her father protected her and Bethany since she was a little girl.  Her life would've been so much simpler and happier had she never met Anders.

I'm curious, does anyone else go a bit  with the Bethany and Anders banter where she states that he reminds her of Daddy Hawke? I recall getting it on my canon run after Hawke and Anders had participated in some fairly heavy flirting, and I can just imagine her giving Bethany the most horrified look imaginable.

At least it makes it sound as if Malcolm was pretty cool. Leandra should have had more to say about it.

YES! I was like "oh, ew, shut up. thanks bethany GO TO HELL." Luckily, I romanced Anders on my mage, so she wasn't around, but my next playthrough, I was like ... "way to make me feel creepy."

My Hawke was fairly displeased; "Shut up Bethany, SHUT UP BETHANY." But you're right, at least it gives you an idea about what daddy Hawke was like. I wonder what the game would have been like if it was mama Hawke who died...

Probably a lot shorter.  Malcolm Hawke sounds like a badass.  Especially if he could keep himself, his wife, and his children safe from the templars for so many years.

It would have been interesting though, to see how differently things would have panned out. You wouldn't even have the estate, would you? Or a crazy psycho mage looking to kidnap your father to turn him into a zombie-bride.

Augh, so many pages! I'm glad I missed out on the latest friendmance vs rivalmance argument. I have strong feelings about that but I was able to come to peace with it the first time it came up. Never changed my mind, but I came to peace with why other people choose what they do.

As for Bethany's comment... is it weird that it didn't weird me out? I think I thought of it more as, "Aw, she thinks of Anders as family already." Plus, it does make papa Hawke seem even more cool than I already assumed he was if he was like Anders.

Yeah, I thought it was cute, too. I can see why others were weirded out, however. ^_^

At first I thought it was evil of her (payback for Hawke pretending like she was going to take Jethann up on his offer right in front of her, I assumed), but now I think it's cute. Anders being nice to Bethany, and saving her life, pretty much cements him as The One in my Hawke's eyes, so that Bethany would compare him to someone she and Hawke both looked up to reinforces Hawke's impression that he's kinda awesome.

So we've mentioned songs that remind us of Anders/the romance, and this one jumped out at me this morning. Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but "Undisclosed Desires" by Muse seems super fitting.

So, erm... *clears throat* my name is Magda and I'm an Andersoholic

I'm not really a BioWare community type and I do feel a bit awkward posting on forums but this thread is so hillarious (despite having those serious and depressing disscusions) and full of awesome I just couldn't resist. You people are just great. It's nice seeing so many Anders fans and lovers ^_^

Keep up the good work! I'm going back to lurker mode now

PS. To whoever wrote about gagball: I'm still having a disturbing and kinky mental image in front of my eyes, thankyouverymuch.

I think people named Malcolm are inherently cooler than the rest of us.

Malcolm Hawke = Malcolm Reynolds

"We are not gonna stay in the Circle. You know why? Because we are so... very... pretty.
We are just too pretty for God to let us live in the Circle. Huh? Look at that
chiseled jaw!"

Oh... oh

Excuse me, I'm just going to go play with the character creator for a while.

Since I was asleep at the time, I didn't get a chance to add my hell to the yes about wanting to go back to Ferelden. Seriously, once I got all that Deep Roads money, I would have rather dragged my family and Anders back there. I felt more strongly about this when King Alistair was defending mages.

However, once the bomb went off, I finally abandoned that dream. I would never openly flee to Ferelden with Anders and risk the world turning against it because of us. Hawke and Anders on the run seem like they would have to constantly stay on the move. Although, I would probably shuttle Bethany off that way.

Hi, Magda!

Ahem. I can't believe I missed the conversation about being ruined for all other DA2 romances because...yes. I love Isabela, but I'm ok with how her friendship plays out even if you just have the one-off fling. As for Fenris, nothing I've seen in Act 3 impresses me enough to want to put off Anders for an entire game. I had big plans to romance all the companions in varying combinations of sexes and classes (well, Merrill would only ever get a female Hawke from me), but now I think about Anders going crazy on his own and, at the most, it will be a very long time before I can go for anyone else.

Even worse is that I love my first Hawke so much, I don't even want to play another PC. I'm hoping that eventually I'll get tired of being a smart-mouthed, soul-eating, holy-smiting cyclone with a sword, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Does anyone else think that Anders's life would probably make for an awesome novel?

The childhood in the desolate Anderfels, the being taken to the circle, all the trysts and escape attempts, the Awakening stuff, Justice, Karl, the mage underground...

I think I'm more tempted to write a Malcolm Hawke fic than anything else.  He just seems like he'd be so cool.  One day I'd love to write about how he manages to sweep a noblewoman off her feet and convince her to elope with him.  XD  He'd have to be a troublemaker; how else could he have met Leandra?  He must've been sneaking out of the Circle to party or explore or simply for the lulz.

I would love it if David or Jennifer wrote a book about Anders' life up until he joins the Wardens. After that, his life is in the hands of players, but I'm a sucker for pre-game Anders stuff and having something official would be awesome.

@leggywillow I'm doing a playthrough fic (because I am laaaaaaame) and 4,000 words in I got completely sidetracked by Malcolm Hawke, The Most Awesome Dad. We know so little about him, but he really does sort of loom in the background way more than he should, considering.

This is gold. Although, it makes me love Malcolm Hawke in ways that makes me feel creepy from a child Hawke perspective.

My goal at the moment: Fanart or fanfic of Karl/Anders. Stay tuned.

Also, good morning Fanders.

@Surely: same here. Chapter one of my fic might as well be called "the unparalleled awesomeness of Malcolm Hawke." It was supposed to establish the sibling relationships and explain why Hawke is how she is... but nope. It's become All About Dad.

I suspect he was vocal on the mage rights thing, too, given Carver's comment to Anders that he's heard it all before.

Let me ask the Anders-experts here: is it possible to screw up his romance if you sleep with someone else, like in the case of Fenris?

Sooooo What do yall think may happen after Hawke leaves Kirkwall? I'm interested on your thoughts.
