I'm currently on a playthrough rivalling everybody except Fenris. Usually it's the otherway around so this is going to be...interesting. Also, painful. All the hurt/disapproving looks are starting to get to me!

That's why I loved this guy   C'mon narcisstic, sarcastic, girl-look-alike with a bone-chewing mother, speaking like she missed her destiny with the Planescape - you know you want to!  

Casavir was a bore, but at least he had his aura of calm around him, and a big stick in the butt called "honor".
He was your standard paladin companion - but he lacked preachiness, and I don't remember him ever going: "DEMON! UN-RIGHTEUS! YOU SHALL BURN IN THE FLAMES OF JUSTICE, AND SO HELP ME TYR!" - so he seemed stable for me. He won't be running around naked, fist-fighting orcs and dragons with the burning hands of Justice in my game.
I loved Sand - not in the "squee" way, but I wouldn't say no  
And yeah... Bishop. Damm sexy. And he can go die in the fire.

Also few words on girls. Neeshka had a lot of Annah in her - and I still don't get the lack of romance. 
Sandra was boring. Cute, reasonable, but she outrunned Casavir. 
And Elanee... ok, I have a thing for "crazy". But she rang the Jehaira bell.

Edit: I never had a "rival everyone" playthrought. Which is strange, because my current Hawke is clearly a douche.
 It's probably about being agressive(Varric) templar-siding (Anders) guy with "moral code" tattoed on his face(Isabela) - but having no qualms about killing everyone for the slightest insult(Aveline). And slaver-supportive (metagaming Fenris).
So, If you won't play the big, ruthless, mindless hypocrite, someone will like you, whatever you want it or not.

I think I'm going to rival Varric again, he is to much fun to rival. Such an ass.

I absolutely hate rivaling Anders. It's just too sad for me, honestly. I can take tragic, but to sit there and be sideline Hawke just watching Anders descend further and further. I hate doing it. Of course this inevitably means I have only like one siding with the Templars playthrough because I also don't like killing Anders.

I got the achievement Arcane Defender a while back for siding with the mages 5 times... I think I have problems, LOL.

My current Hawke totally supports him starting the war so she can break her sister out of the Circle XD She kind of thought he sucked in Act 1 but in Act 2 she starts pushing him to do something about the crap mage situation...even if it means war.  But she slowly developed an understanding for his goals, even though she's no mage.

But now I kinda want to rival Varric XD

So you're rivaling Anders? Are you picking all the aggressive lines or just sending everybody off to the Circle? Feynriel was the only mage I didn't ship off there.

In my mind, Cassavir = Alistair who is older, more worldly wise, and has zero sense of humor. The KC that I beat that game and MotB with romanced Cassavir because frankly, the guy seemed like he needed a huge hug. He had issues.

Sand, on the other hand, was made of awesome and win. I used to use the console commands to get his approval up to 100% just so that he would call my KC 'my dear'. :wub:I wonder if he survived the death of his god a few years later when 4ed started and Neverwinter got levelled. Now, there's fanfiction fodder for ya.

I'd like to think that he and Safia met up in some high class tea room somewhere, had a few arguements about Thay politics, then ended up shacking up together. I loved Safia.

Okay. Ahem. In my playthrough, I have been mean. Calpurnia Hawke mentions at every opportunity that she could do some 'real good' for Kirkwall. As in, her bum in the Vicount's seat. She's best buds forever with Fenris, driving Sebastian right back to his own throne (and to her bed, heh), and yes, she let Anders kill Ella. And she tranquilled Fenreyel, who I actually think is an intriguing character.
I was kind of channelling Evita when I came up with the concept with this character. Don't cry for me, Kirkwall...

I've never played NWN2 (wondering now if it's maybe worth looking into?), but all this rock-crushing business got me curious, so I snooped around a bit. Turns out there's actually a Sand romance mod currently in the works (actually nearing completion, from the looks of it), since I see him mentioned here a couple of times. So don't lose hope!

The mod is co-authored by Domi and myself and until she is done with the Neeshka romance, I can't alter any files besides gl_sand.dlg. I'm having trouble accessing the Gibberlings 3 forums from my work computer, but there's a forum for it there.

I had another dream with him in it.. WTF... He was my lawyer... don't ask. The glasses were hip though, the feather pauldrons, mage robes, and staff didn't scream lawyer though. *facepalm* Something is seriously wrong with me. I'm not making this up.

Oh, lol, I can't believe my brain didn't make the connection that you were the same berelinde as on the Gibberlings forums  That's where I went snooping. Whoops! Been exploring the place lately for the purposes of my first foray into BG. But hey, my encouragements for the mod! Can't be easy to do.

Anders as a lawyer...hmm...Maybe if he shaved? I'm sure Justice would give him an advantage in that field though. Or not. Don't think he'd be much inclined to strategise a speech.

He gets very "in" the speech - but at the same time he has a ******-poor arguments and tends to over-dramatise stuff - so yeah, he could work - just give him some backup.

Let us know when it gets finished, Ber. I'll be more than happy to reinstall NWN2 on my harddrive and do a replay with a Moon Elf Wizard character I made back when the game was new.

This whole conversation made me crave a crossover piece where Sand and Anders have a discussion about how to cure him of Vengeance. I think Sand would soundly call Anders an idiot, and then be intrigued by the challenge.

Actually, for some weird reason, I'd love to see Hermione from Harry Potter in that mix, too.

Are there any DA-something else crossover fics out there that involve Anders and aren't something I've written? I sort of want to read one now.

I've done several playthroughs of NWN2. My canon "romanced" (since offically in game, he can't really be) Bishop. I would say he's my favorite romance, because I have a fondness for psychopathic, mentally unstable homicidal sex fiend gate-crashing love interests. Never been much for kngiht in shining armor types. That said, I did like Casavir as an LI. Normally, I hate paladins, but Casavir was an exception. Though he isn't exactly fun at parties, his lacks the self righteous Lawful Stpuid tendancies that seem typical and common for Paladins. And of course, he was a little neurotic himself, which was rather endearing in its own way. He certainly deserved a better, more imaginative fate than getting squashed by rocks.

But yeah, i was highly disappointed that Sand wasn't offically doable. I mean, during the trial, with Sand and Torio taking potshots at each other, i suddenly stop caring whether or not I'd be innocent or guilty, and just wanted to rip his robes of and take him right there on the courtroom floor in front of Nasher and everyone. Get Grobnart to whip out his lute and play some funky porn music to accompany the scene.

Anders as a lawyer? Lol, that would be the trial of the century. Everytime he objects, Justice comes about and fries everyone in the courtroom with blue death rays. Awesome.

Nope, nothing like that. He's quite mellow and non preachy. He only really ever pipes in when you're about to do something really evil, mean, or pointlessly selfish and cruel. He even objects to the PC attacking a tribe of goblins who are generally neutral and peaceable. He also objects to killing wounded, defenseless orcs, or even trying to kill Ammon Jerro, a pretty ruthless evil warlock. Like I said, he was the first paladin in the D&D game that i didn't want to boot stomp or b*tch slap everytime he opened his mouth.

Anders: "As I was saying..."

Judge: Council for the defense will stop hitting the prosecution with crushing prison, or I will fine you for contempt of court.

Prosecution: What? But...the defendant pleaded guilty and just confessed to the crime on the stand! And like, we haven't even gotten to closing arguements.
Jury: *looks at blue glowey anders getting ready to cast corrosive walking bomb* We definitely find the defendant not guilty. Court is ajourned. *jury runs for life*
